You didn't consult the original 10 commandments closely enough, did you?^^
But seriously the differences are really subtle.

About the chinese stuff, it should be something around the lines of 这是一个英文网。 but maybe there's a way to pimp it up a little.
这是一个英文的网站。 would be more fluid imo, but yeah, it's basically the same thing

Here at 'the Rock,' we have two basic rules. Memorize them so you can say them in your sleep. Rule One: Obey all rules! Second, do not write on the walls...as it takes a lot of work...to erase writing...off of walls.
Now if only people would actually follow these rules...
Also, the time of reckoning for SCIENCE is rapidly approaching! Either the SC2 Beta comes out (or is at least announced) in the next few days, or all SCIENCE will have been conclusively proven wrong (including the existence of gravity, the Theory of Relativity, etc). This would, of course, be a major catastrophe, since without gravity our world would immediately spin out into deep space, leading to the extinction of all life on Earth.
The fate of the the world rests in your hands, Blizzard! Give us beta!

The main difference I noticed is that coarse language is now restricted.
Edit: I know double-posting is frowned upon, but should we formally say "no except _____" to it as a sub-point to one of the commandments, say, spamming?

Just to be german:
I'd change "Diese Seite ist offiziell in Englisch gehalten." to "Die offizielle Sprache dieser Webseite ist Englisch" on the 7th commandment.
That line just makes more sense if you want to express that English is the language to be used while posting otherwise you just refer to the fact that this page is officially in English.
And sorry for being german about it .

TL needs to actually live up to their reputation of being strict, because I think the moderation around here is quite lax. I'm pretty sure they mean meme in the 4chan sense, rather than the Richard Dawkins/Biological sense lol. I don't think you'll get yo' collective ass whooped if, for example, you use colloquialisms... Although that being said, I'd have to agree that spreading 'bad/unthoughtful' meme's is also pretty damn annoying...

"gratuitous swearing is a no-no"
But, can i swear in my blog? Cause i was thinking to write a blog about my ISP and that's impossible without swearing.

I will try to respect these rules. However, I would like to see forum veterans put under better check. I often see some of these veterans causing the worst offenses.

Well, most of the veterans who cause offenses more than make up for it with an equal amount of quality posts and/or big contributions. They all know when they can screw around and when to respond seriously. And people with 5000+ posts DO get banned so it's not like you can do whatever you want when you hit X posts.

I love most of the veterans, especially the staff.

I always liked the commandments. Many people on the outside told me "TL is so elitist" but the commandments just make sense. I'm a forum vet on another site (not the little newbie I am here) and I just think it makes sense to treat the old contributors with a little more leeway than others. They really have earned it.
As TL newbie, love the commandments, thanks mani!
