Report from Waxangel, but he can't access the site so i get the honor to post it

With the finals between Hanbitsoft & Suma GO scheduled for October 10th, MBCGame decided to fill the remaining weeks until then with special matches. Their first session was to be an exhibition match between POS, an experienced team, and Toona SG, a newly formed team.

POS
POS lost a close series against Hanbitsoft 3-4 to be knocked from the 2nd KPGA Team League. In the league before that, they had proved their worth by going toe to toe with the more famous teams, winning or just barely losing. While Lee has recently left POS, POS is still left with an assortment of promising players. Joyo as the old, experienced player, Terato, JulyZerg, and Junitoss as the newcomers with a little experience, and young players like Shark and Pro.nt Fantasy who have barely been tested. Oh, and they have everyone's favorite Aussie, Peter Neate

Toona SG
The newest team around. They picked up some free agents, and they got a few that are pretty good. T.3)Friend (GoodFriend), Ogogo[Inca], and s.s.m~silver are their top players, who are all causing quite a stir in the progaming world at the moment. Less known progamers like Salmosa and KyO[3.33] fill the rest of their ranks. Teams with less impressive rosters have faired well, it will be interesting to see where this team goes.

Rar, and I'll go through an explanation of the format yet again! The two teams select their starting players, and they play a game. After that, the winning player continues to play until he loses, then the player who defeated him replaces him. The team that lost the last game gets to pick which player will challenge the current winner. First team to rack up 4 wins is victorious!

Pirates of Space(yes, that's what POS means) vs Toona SG

While Toona sent out s.s.m~silver, the man famous for defeating Boxer 2-0 in the MBCGame preliminaries, POS opted to try and catch th

e other team off guard. POS_Legion, TL.net's beloved Australian, came out as the first player.

Game 1: POS_Legion vs [s.s.m]~silver on Enter the Dragon

Legion started at the bottom right start position, while Silver started across the map at top left. Silver took advantage of the long distance between the mains, putting down his 2nd hatchery at his natural expansion. Legion started with a 2 gate build, but skipped zealots and teched quickly.

Rather than adding a 3rd hatchery and powering, Silver went for a Lair and Hydralisk Den off 2 hatcheries. Making some speedlings for defense, he produced some drones and started making a 3rd hatchery while he teched to lurkers. Legion teched to citadel and forge, while producing enough zealots to fend off a possible ling attack.

After getting leg upgrades, Legion moved out with a small group of Zealots. Silver's lurkers finished morphing at a similar time, and he put them on hold to await the zealots' attack. Legion poked at entrance to Silver's base, quickly running back as a throng of lings and lurker spines came out to greet him.

It looked like Legion had made a mistake coming out to attack at all, as the lurkers and zergling started to chase his zealots all the way back. Fearing for the safety of his zealots, Legion ran them around the top side of map to the narrow position of the bridge leading to his natural. Unfortunately for Legion, Silver didn't follow him. He took his army and went straight to Legion's poorly protected front door.

Had there been 2 zealots at Legion's ramp, he would have been spared a LOT of trouble. Only a lone templar without storm and 2 cannons defended the Protoss ramp. 30+ lings made their way up the ramp with ease, taking down the two cannons in no time. Legion was going to die, or so it seemed, but he saved himself with divine intervention. Silver was a bit late in trying to pick up his lurkers and force them to the Protoss mineral line. Legion's zealots arrived in time prevent any blind run in attempt. In the meanwhile, some of the lings met their ends after being left unmanaged against a photon cannon deep in the mineral line, while others were dispatched by zealots. Silver tried to press the attack with reinforcing lings, but he didn't have the lurkers to progress up Legion's ramp, and was stopped.

If only that had been the end of story! Silver had been in a good position despite having traded badly with Legion in his attack. With 3 hatches, drones, and tech, he was in position to start starving Legion. But that's not how it went, because God (and Peter Neate) works in mysterious ways.

It just so happened to be that Silver was having so much fun attacking, he had forgotten to place an overlord in his main. And apparently he didn't appreciate his drones enough to take a look at them once in a while. During the attack, Legion slipped a single Dark Templar into Silver's main. There, it silently dispatched every single drone, bring its kill count up to 14. After Silver bored of impaling his lings against Legion's defenses, he finally took a look at his main. It was a long and painful wait while the nearest overlord crawled its way back to the Zerg main. Silver was able to barely save his lair, but the damage had already been done.

Legion knew exactly where the game was going from there on, and started on his devious plans. There isn't much to say about what Silver was doing from this point :O

Legion took the southern island with his newly created shuttle, as Silver had no way of reaching him from the air. The shuttle hurried back for some new passengers, picking up a high templar and some bodyguards. Silver was mining from his main again, trying to get back into the game. The HT drop was quite cute, killing many drones despite Silver's quick reactions. Some lings sent to 'easily' stop the attack also bursted into ketchup with a pretty storm and shuttle micro. Silver scrambled to defend his main, but Legion was already getting ready to attack it again. Zealots had arrived by foot, and were waiting for their shuttle lift up into the Zerg main. Caught off-guard yet again, Silver barely saved his main using lurkers.

And there was still much fun to be had! Templar drop on the Zerg natural, another DT sneak attack on the main, a DT attack on the natural, and who knows how many drops I'm forgetting. It was bloody and.... bloody! Nary a drone could be seen, the ones that were still alive on strike for safer working conditions. I'll refrain from mentioning Silver's mutalisk counter attack which died horribly to a zillion storms, the game was humiliating enough as it was. Whoops :O

I'm not quite sure if Legion was just refusing to finish Silver, or if he was just using every single unit he had in a drone attack, but he did take his time in finishing him in off. Finally, the evil Protoss army swept over the Zerg natural (the main long gone), putting Silver in his grave.

Game 2: POS_Legion vs Ogogo[Inca] on Dark Sauron

Disclaimer: This report is NO WAY near doing the game justice

Pestering Pete started off at 5:00, while Ogogo started relatively close by at 8:00. Ogogo mirrored his teammate's build, going for a fast expansion into quick lurker tech. Legion's probe saw the lair, but not the den. Legion started with a similar 2 gate fast tech build, but went for a stargate before citadel this time.

Ogogo was prepared for the corsair, having hydralisks out in time to prevent any severe overlord damage. Legion teched up to templar archives at his main, while placing photon cannons to defend against lurkers. The first templar tech units to come out were two dark templars.

MBCGame had run out of ways to open games that day, so they decided to use the same scenario for game 2. 1 DT went into the main to kill off many drones. A lurker and an overlord were placed there, but the DT killed many drones before the single lurker could finish it off. The other DT tried to attack the natural, but found it well defended. Instead, it took swipes at lings as they went around unprotected.

Legion tried to use this advantage to expand, but Ogogo was not such an easy opponent. He had lost some drones, but his lurkers gave him superiority on the ground. He soon had 2 lurkers attacking the warping nexus, forcing Legion to cancel. The other lurkers and lings set themselves up at strategic points, becoming the foundations for full containment. Legion was not one to take blows without striking back, he had his starting corsair and DTs patrol the upper side of the map for expansions.

Legion tried an attack using zealots and dark templars, and he found ramp into Ogogo's main surprisingly undefended. However, his lack of detection forced him to run when lurkers arrived. He took the small force back to block one of the important ramps to the middle of the map from Ogogo's main. But it only served to give Ogogo the chance to attack the zeals from two sides to finish them off. It was not a complete loss for Legion, it provided a slight distraction for an "expansion" at the southern isle. Yes, the one with just 4 minerals -_-.

Having gotten rid of a fair amount of zealots without taking many losses himself, Ogogo took a poke at Legion's main. Templars and cannons prevented a direct attack, so Ogogo simply advanced his lurker line into Legion's natural. He would certainly win if he could continue to deny Legion an expand, despite the fact that DTs and sairs were preventing Ogogo from expanding any further.

The situation was getting grim for Legion, Ogogo's lurkers and lings were more than enough to take him if he tried an attack, and his main was running low. He needed expansions so he could drag out the game. Necessity is indeed the mother of invention, as Legion's plan was one of the oddest.

With his nexus finishing up at the island, he plopped down some cannons there to defend himself from mutas. Also, a probe went to the top side of the map to start a naked expansion at the 2:00 natural. And in the meanwhile, a DT cleared out the lurkers at his own natural, giving him room to warp in a nexus.

It must have cost a lot of minerals, the island and cannons fell easily to mass mutas while the 2:00 natural expand had to be cancelled when lings came in to prevent it's completion. But Legion had his natural and Ogogo was still confined to his main and nat. Expanding 3 times so one can live, maybe Pete is taking lessons from Elky -_-. It assured at least 15 more minutes of headaches for Ogogo

Legion was not interested in massing a large game finishing army, small forces to keep the enemy distracted was his plan. A small group of zealots and an archon left to take a swipe at Ogogo, and were met by some mutas and lings in the middle. With some good micro, Ogogo took care of the attack.

As his expansion attempts had been prevented for the entire game, Ogogo got impatient. He took his superior muta, ling, and lurker force and tried to attack Legion's natural. It only worked to patient Pete's advantage, as he gave Ogogo a nice beating before the Zerg forces retreated. Ogogo did gain a little from the attack, a hatchery at the southern central expansion. As he still had the superior ground force, it could have been considered a worthwhile trade.

Legion sent out another small force of units, some zealots and an archon. As they went out through the middle, they discovered the newly built hatchery. Legion was almost able to kill the hatchery and keep Ogogo down on resources, but Zerg reinforcements hastily arrived to chase off the Protoss attackers.

Having taken the initiative, Legion put on the pressure again. A large force of zealots and a few temps went through the bottom of the map to attack the Zerg natural and main. Unfortunately for Legion, Ogogo's overlords saw, and scourge were sent to tag the observers. Sensing an opportunity to get rid of the main enemy force, Ogogo sent some of his troops around through the high ground encircling the center. As the Protoss forces were retreating after seeing lurkers defending the Zerg natural, they met Ogogo's formidable force of lurkers and lings.

Ogogo had underestimated Legion's army, sending small force that relied on the lack of protoss detection. Legion used the micro card he had been saving for so long. While his storms had been good for most of the game, this time his zeal micro was up to par as well! Winning the battle, Legion made a hasty retreat before reinforcements came.

Setting a trend for the rest of battles in the game, there was something going on elsewhere. A DT had killed off some lings that had been loitering around at the 11:00 main, opening the way for an expansion at a most unexpected position. Also, Legion tried a HT drop on the Zerg main, but Ogogo deftly pulled out his drones to prevent any damage. Ogogo had teched up to hive and cracklings, having to increase the efficiency of his units since he lacked the money to overwhelm Legion with numbers.

Legion added some dragoons to his force and sent another small force to attack Ogogo. Instead of a direct attack, this time he used his dragoons to cover the minerals above the southern central expand. While Ogogo used his troops to chase those units away, Legion was placing gateways and cannons around the nexus at the 11:00 main. Ogogo discovered the 11:00 expand only after the defenses were in place.

Legion took his units out on another excursion. Again, the Protoss units went through the bottom of the map and towards the Zerg natural. Ogogo sent many cracklings around to surround these units, but Legion put on another show of micro to take down lings. Satisfied with thinning Ogogo's forces, Legion pulled back. While this was going on, zealots and DTemps made at the 11:00 main were busy tearing down a new hatchery at the 11:00 natural. Ogogo's main and natural were starting to run low.

Sensing the game rapidly slipping from his grasp, Ogogo tried to maximize his utilization of limited resources. Cracklings made their way to the 11:00 main, while an ultralisk cavern was built at his main. However, both attempts did not work out effectively at all. The cracklings blindly ran into cannons and high templars, and were killed off in record time. While ultralisks would surely help Ogogo, he was already strapped for cash, and the upgrades would take forever. If he had anything going for him, it was the fact that he had 2/1 upgrades for cracklings on the ground.

Legion sent out yet another group of troops, whether Ogogo had learned his lesson about throwing his units into losing fights was a point of interest. Ogogo dumped units on Legion again, but this time he had ultralisks. Though the fight was harder than when it was just against lings, accurate storm usage and good micro was enough to finish off the ultras and cracks with units to spare. And back at the 11:00 main, Ogogo had sent another attack in the form of lurkers. With the cannons and templars being too much for a head on attack, Ogogo settled for killing the gates at the edge of the cannon line.

Having killed the ultras and ling with surprising efficiency, Legion tacked on some reinforcements and attacked the southern central expansion. For having lost quite a few units moments before, Ogogo had an impressive amount of ultralisks and lings. The battle looked as if was going to be like many of the battles Legion had been through up to now, ones where the Zerg forces were cut down with efficiency, but where the toss were eventually repelled.

Legion defied logic, using his templars and storm oh so very well. The end result was the toss army standing victorious, though nearly dead. Legion put his troops to the job of killing the hatchery, a well earned reward after a tough fight. Masses of cracklings arrived to end their task prematurely -.-;; Not to be stopped so easily, Legion sent in a commando force of 6 zealots a bit later. The lings had been sent elsewhere, and only a few lurkers were defending the low HP hatchery. It was a simple task to kill the defenders and the hatchery, leaving Ogogo broke.

Ogogo might have surrendered, but there was still a chance at winning that was keeping him in the game. His cracklings had been absent for reason! Legion was relying on the 11:00 expansion, his main and natural having run out long ago. It was a an odd situation, the expansion looked impenetrable with the cannons and templars defending, yet it seemed like a dedicated attack might succeed with heavy losses.

The lurks that had been laying idle joined the masses of cracklings to attack the 11:00 main defenses from all sides. Occupied elsewhere, Legion reacted after many of his cannons had already been destroyed. Knowing the game was on the line, Legion laid down a fury of storms. The burst of concentration saved Legion's expand from immediate death, nearly all the lings died and only a few lurkers were left. The cannons were all gone, but reinforcements were coming fast. The expansion was saved, 1 base for toss, 0 for Zerg :O

Ogogo took his last remaining units for a final attack on 11:00. It was hardly enough, Legion finished off all of his ling with some picture perfect storm. The GG that came couldn't have been more pleasing for Legion ^^

The game ended, and the camera slowly zoomed in on Legion. He was wearing a satisfied smile, while behind him, Terato made an expression of disbelief :O

Game 3: POS_Legion vs GoodFriend(T.3)Friend) on JR's Memory

At last, Legionnaire got a map and matchup where he wasn't expected to die horribly. After watching the first two games, the announcers were reluctant to favor GoodFriend, though he was one of MBCGame's rising stars. They settled for saying it would evenly matched.

Legion started at 12:00, while Friend started at 9:00, close spots on JR's Memory. Fast forward! Friend was going for a typical 2 factory mechanical build. There was a more risky strat in Legion's mind, a proximal reaver drop! A probe had gone to the gas natural behind Friend's main to build a pylon and a robotics facility. Legion's plan worked nearly perfectly, if not for a small slip up. A brave scouting SCV assaulted the probe blocking the ramp into Legion's main, forcing his way in. A dragoon popped out of the gateway, but not before the SCV got a good look around. The buildings in the toss main didn't add up, and Friend became suspicious. He deemed it would take too much time to scour every corner of the map. Instead, he just went along with his build, but built an engineering bay and turrets in preparation for some kind of drop.

Against a DT drop, it may have been enough preparation. But against a reaver drop, being half prepared was as bad as being completely unprepared. The shuttle died, and the reaver only got two shots. Reavers only need 2 shots to earn their keep . With his economy messed up, Friend knew he had wasn't going to be winning any time soon. Trying for a victory later in the game, he set up a plan and added a starport in his main.

Legion safely took his natural, instead of trying more aggressive tactics. The resource advantage would only increase as more time passed. Some vultures came in to cause trouble, but were easily stopped by goons and obs. Friend went about his plan for reversing the game, starting with a dropship and 2 tanks.

The left side of Legion's main was chosen as the landing spot. 2 tank were dropped, while nearby vultures started to be ferried up. It was far from a perfect attack, Legion already had 2 zealots near the drop site. Friend pressed the attack anyway, giving up his tanks while his vultures tried to damage the probes. Though the ratio of units lost for probes killed didn't meet Friend's expectations, he had bought himself some time, and set up Legion for more harassment attempts.

Friend had completed a command center, and was flying it towards his gas natural. Legion spotted it with his observer, but Friend's heavy defenses deterred Legion from attacking. Friend was using some of his units on harassment, but he was also keeping many units at home to he could safely take his naturals. Also, Legion had taken the 3:00 main, and didn't seem willing to try a possibly suicidal attack while he was still ahead in resources.

Vultures sped into the 3:00 main just before an important cannon completed, causing much pain to the resident probes. Friend was also preparing a CC for his mineral natural. Combined with the moderate economical damage he had inflicted, Friend retaking the lead was a real possibility. After the early reaver drop, Friend had taken no damage at all. He had built up a solid ground force while expanding safely. However, it was too early to say he was going to make an impressive comeback.

A new expansion at the 6:00 gas natural would give Legion a workable lead in resources, and there was also the problem of 2 stargates warping in carriers at the Protoss main.

The game slipped out of Friend's hands as gradually as it he had grabbed a hold of it. Friend had put together a formidable tank and vulture mix, but one could not help but think he was taking too long to attack. Safety and patience had saved him well so far, but he was taking it too far. By moving out after the 3rd and 4th carriers warped in, he had missed his window for a reversal.

His vulture and tank force set up in the center, barring any Protoss ground movements. But it was to no avail, as the carriers were already on the prowl. Rather than tearing up the tanks in the middle, Legion went to cut off Friend's resources. Friend was left in an odd position, unable to attack or defend. Goliaths eventually joined the main tank army, but the carrier fleet had already snowballed out of control.

Friend could not make any decisive movements, and was forced to concede the game without as much as an impressive last ditch attack.

The game seems so boring because it was boring. Don't blame me T_T. It's just that Pete is very Neate. It was sort of pretty to see a billion interceptors flying around though -_-.

Game 4: POS_Legion vs Kyo[3.33] on Plains to Hill

Protoss vs Protoss! I prepared myself to be bored to death, but the game managed to be quite humorous ^_^.

Legion started at 11:00, while Kyo started at 8:00. Though neither players' scout probes found the other early, they both opted for 2 gate starts. The early game was rough for Legion, the "Lose the battle, win the war" mentality showing through . Kyo's 1st zealot killed a few of Legion's probes, while Legion's 1st zealot was easily trapped by Kyo's probes and smacked around.

The two players refrained from zealot fights after that, teching at similar times and retaining a similar amount of zealots. Now unable to scout each other, their tech trees verged slightly. Kyo went for a robotics and observer, with late range, while Legion went for range first, then robotics.

After getting range, Legion tried an attack with mostly zeals and a few goons. The defending army consisted of mostly the same, just slightly more and in much better position. Legion pulled back before he lost too many units, and mercifully, Kyo didn't follow him all the way to finish him off.

With the lead on the ground, Kyo expanded to his natural. Exploiting Kyo's passive behavior, Legion tried a daring expand to 3;00 island. Not long after, he took his natural as well. And again, the 12:00 isle a white later. Why Kyo did not try to run over Legion with his ground troops is unknown, perhaps he didn't notice the isle exps and thought Legion would have sturdy defense. Anyhow, Legion didn't leave Kyo to just sit there and ponder about it.

After game 3, Legion was eager to restart his pestering ways. Speed shuttle, check! Dragoon, check! Reaver, check! The shuttle flew in directly, straight into the heart of Kyo's main. 4 dragoons were guarding the path the shuttle would take. It seemed as if Pete's plagueful pranks were going to be prevented from producing pandemonium, but only Pete was not so weak as to run from danger! A dragoon dropped from the shuttle, immediately drawing the fire of the 4 goons, saving the shuttle. The reaver safely dropped in the probe line and blasted them all to robot hell. The reaver died, but not without doing its job.

The worst danger was over, Legion now had a workable defense at his natural if Kyo wanted to attack. Kyo was still unaware of his superiority on the ground, and continued to play it safe. He took the 5:00 main, while trying a some reaver harassment of his own on the 12:00 isle (easily stopped!). The 3:00 isle remained undiscovered, and there was still a magical reaver waiting to do its job.

The 8:00 natural was the beginning. Kyo was not expecting another drop, and he paid the price. Few things are more beautiful than 11 probes exploding at once! The reaver and shuttle found a way out, mocking their pursuers as they ran away. After a short excursion at the 3:00 island to defend against some attackers that had found the hidden expand, the shuttle and reaver made their way to the 5:00 main. Naked expansions make for some real moments ^_^. Once again, the reaver and shuttle slipped out of danger.

Back to the 8:00 natural! Kaboom . I suppose Kyo kept thinking "He couldn't possibly drop again." There are many degrees to being wrong, and this was one of the more severe cases. No defenses ^_^.

Finally realizing how many goons he had, Kyo tried a massive assault on Legion. Actually, it was probably because he was pissed off about the reaver ^^. Anyway, it was not enough (it certainly wasn't too little), too late.

His attack consisted of a lot of goons. Not just a lot, A LOT! And some more. And more -_-. And they all died -_-. Goons and cannons on high ground, goons in perfect position on the ground, DTs taking random shots, reavers firing safely from behind....... It brought tears to my eyes, because it was so beautiful and so f***ing sad --.

During that episode of suicide, Legion got in one more reaver drop. The reaver finally fell(bless its soul) to the defenders, but not before setting some records. 57 kills. Take away 1 or 2 odd kills, and that's ALL probes. 55+ probes dead, all to one reaver. If SC had unit leveling, the Reaver would be at lvl 99 and summoning a hail of scarabs from the sky while breathing nukes from it's mouth. The auction for the 57 kill reaver is in progress, and the bids are flying!

Legion still wanted even MORE probe kills, so he sent a DT to kill some probes at the undefended 8:00 main and nat -_-. Like the past 3 games, there was no detection where needed.

Legion had one last surprise for Kyo (actually he scouted Legion a while back, but it flows better this way!). The base at 3:00 looked a little cluttered on the mini-map, and for good reason. A large fleet of Carriers was ready to go! It was time to end the antics. Legion had also made a bunch of DT and zealots, and he initiated a two prong attack on he 8:00 and 5:00 mains with land and air. There was another impressive show of interceptors flying everywhere, and then the letters "gg" showed up at the bottom left part of the screen ^^. Well, it's hard discern "FU" and "gg" on such a blurry screen.

POS_Legion defeated Kyo[3.33]
Peter Neate 4 : 0 Toona SG

Fucking unbelievable! Legionnaire takes apart the Toona team, and does it with so much style it's sick. The games were entertaining, funny, and quite serious at the same time. MBCGame will surely have a nickname prepared for him next time, I suspect they'll go with "He who takes all of our SC doctrines set in stone and smashes them with a sledgehammer." On a more serious note, they called him a Protoss version of Elky, and "Concept breaking toss."

Where will Peter Neate go from here? Today, Toona SG. Tomorrow, the world! Bow down, you infidels -_-!

I suck at compliments, gogo post replies with many congratulations! ~_~_~_~

If SC had unit leveling, the Reaver would be at lvl 99 and summoning a hail of scarabs from the sky while breathing nukes from it's mouth.

mannered, funny, skilled --> leg!! <3

I still remember comments on bw.com a long time ago when ppl were making fun of him. Well, did he prove them wrong

I think it's the best report from Wax' hands till now!

They are looking for new leg nickname... Is New Age Protoss taken? I think New Age ... is a nickname they like using on Iron Chef.

OMG. the game on dark sauron was a sight to see. We were watching it thinking "he is so dead" and he still pulled it out. The commentators were going crazy.

It was cool.

Superb 1st game on Enter the Dragon good controll of units + timeing + superb dark drop on main who killed 13 drones ^^
2nd on Sauron good job not letting zerg to expand with DT and a engenious Unit Controll let him win after starting not so good
3rd JRM it was all the way Legionnaire than gr8 carrier controll to finish the game
4th At Plains to Hill D it was a gr8 show of drops and the massiv atack on his main defended by a smaller army but good placeament on clifs etc made it survive and than gr8 atack on main with and carrier atack on expo made it 4;0
i was realy impresed by the way Legion played that day all his team was a bit suprised i think after he won with a gr8 style thou his only 126th in PG ranking ^^ GOGO LEGION GR8 JOB with Toona Team keep it up

MadFrog : In my opinion, the biggest reason why WC3 is dying is because it is not such a great game as Brood War is.

The game ended, and the camera slowly zoomed in on Legion. He was wearing a satisfied smile, while behind him, Terato made an expression of disbelief :O

It wasnt untill now that I found out about that...
The report of the 4th game was hilarious and amazing...

"Few things are more beautiful than 11 probes exploding at once! The
reaver and shuttle found a way out, mocking their pursuers as they ran
away."

I enjoyed this very much...
Anyone plzzzz give me the rep of this?

jiji Legion...
