A big thanks goes to Live2Win for keeping us up to date on all the schedules, it is a big help! The group drawings for the MSL are tonight, and the OSL is on Friday the 18th. - Mani
Basic Info Group Drawing Date: August 18 Maps: Sin Peaks of Baekdu, Arcadia 2, Arkanoid, Tau Cross Sponsor: ShinHan Bank Name (so we have no conflicts!): 2006 ShinHan Season 2 OGN Starleague (or just 06Shinhan2)
Well we all know that Shinhan will be sponsoring the next 2 starleagues and another invite tournament. But it seems that OGN will have a few slight changes this league. Here's a list.
- Draws for Round of 16 will be changed. Last season, the draw was pre-arranged. That is, whoever was first in group A, was arranged to play with whoever came in second in Group C (or something). This season, they will be arranging it so that the players can choose who to play against.
Players who came in first with a 3-0 record will vote first (incase of tie, they will just pick one). First place players may not pick players who came in first place from other groups.
- Round of 16 schedule will be slightly different. This change isn't big. They are keeping the format all the way to Finals as it was. But instead of having 2 matches (bo3 each) play each day, they will have 4 matches play in one day, but 1 game a day. In other words, it will be like how they do the Quarter Finals.
- Maps will be rotated. If you remember, last season they used the same maps for the first game of each match. During Quarter's, we'd see 3 games played on the same map. But by changing the maps on each match, they are hoping to not let that happen.
- 3rd/4th Place Match will no longer be Bo5 Title explains it all. 3/4 Match will now be Best Of 3, and it will be played on the same day as 5th/6th Place Match.
- Wild Card Matches will change. I'm kinda happy about this because they used my idea (if you read my "My Ideal MSL Format" thread). Before, they had 3 1v1's (bo3) where the winners advance, and the 3 losres play a round robin. Now, they will simply have 2 groups of 3 players, and have each group play a round robin (AvsB, BvsC, CvsA). Top two from each group will advance.
- Interviews at Group Drawing will be changed. This has little to do with the TLnet community since most of us (not me though!) don't understand Korean. Before, they had each player give a short interview after they chose a player to be in his/her group. Now, they will go straight through the group, and have 6 interviews after whoever in Group F has chosen. Seeded players will get interviewed right after their choice like before.
Now that that's over with, let's take a look at this player's List.

Uh more details on this please? Are they talking about players who went 3-0 from Dual Tournament? Because those players went 2-0 and 2-1, not 3-0. Or are you talking about players from previous OSL of the seeded 6?

In group play I'd think, to determine 1/8 finals.
No, in Ro24, the 6 seeds from ShinHan1 will each chose 1 person to their group. It will be the same from last season.
In Ro16, they will have ANOTHER Drawing. But it won't be group drawing, it will be that players who came in first in their groups from Ro24 will get to pick their oppontent for Ro16. Players with 3-0 records in the group stage will vote first.

Yea... MSL >. But honorable mention to OSL, def. This is Yellow's season for sure! At the same time... gogogolden mouse, fat overlord!.. or nada! I never know who to root for. but really, go yell0w.
For me, the lack of protoss participation has sapped some of my interest in the OSL over the last year or so. Whatever your favourite race, I think most people agree that a tournament is more interesting and more vibrant when there is a more even distribution among the three races. What a shame.
i just think zvz is impossible to write about and tvt takes too long. Mirror matchups might be fun to play, but they really arent all that fun to watch. The only one i like is tvt, but with 6 games... hour long tvt's are not the greatest.
Its going to be an interesting OSL for sure... This has got MIDAS written all over it.. seeing as theres no pusan to stop him this time...
Well you can't have just every player in one SL, you always have some good players missing/out of shape. We'll see about Midas, it's true that he has a good shot, but i feel he might end like Yellow...
Nada and July have a very good opportunity to go for the golden mouse, it should be interesting.
