Match 2: STX 2 - 0 KT
By: Wunder
STX defeats KT Rolster 4-1 in the second match and takes the series 2-0.
History repeats itself as STX barreled through KT Rolster’s lineup once again with Flash being the only player on KT to take a game. It was a eerily similar situation to the first match as STX showcased their strength in PvP and utilized Innovation extremely well. They will now go on to face Woongjin Stars in the finals of this season’s Proleague.

Game one:
While hyvaa put up a good fight against Flash in the first match, their rematch was a slightly different story as Flash ran circles around the STX Zerg on Whirlwind. Though hyvaa deflected Flash’s opening hellbat gambit well and took minimal damage, he not only stopped expanding but also stayed on roach/bane while Flash continued to expand and built up a sizable marauder/hellbat force. Even after mutalisks entered the fray, Flash continued to demolish hatchery after hatchery and the STX Zerg had no choice but to tap out.
Game two:
In Crazy vs Innovation, we saw what happened when you tried to all-in Innovation and because it proved unfruitful, hitmaN decided to try and go toe to toe against the STX Terran and see how he would fare instead. While the KT Zerg actually stood up to the relentless marine mine aggression of Innovation for a while, the game crumbled after a botched engagement in front of Innovation’s natural and led to a series of mistakes whereby hitmaN lost his entire mutalisk flock while dealing with a drop at his third. While he lost the game, it was still a valiant effort by hitmaN and he displayed some ingenuity in dealing with the bio mine composition.
Game three:
The first PvP of the night, MyuNgSiK vs Trap was a match that was scheduled for the sixth game of the first match, but because it ended in a 4-1 victory, we didn’t get to see it. This time, however, because it was the third game, we were guaranteed to see it and unfortunately for MyuNgSiK and KT, it was a fairly straightforward win for Trap. The STX Protoss opened up with a stargate while MyuNgSiK went for a double gateway stalker opener, and even though Trap didn’t do much economic damage with the oracle, it forced MyuNgSiK to stay in his base and he opted for robo tech. This paved the way for Trap to expand safely and as MyuNgSiK’s attack approached, Trap took the battle to him and managed to decimate MyuNgSiK’s sentry-heavy force with his zealots. From there it was just about playing conservatively and slowly getting an army big enough to crush through anything MyuNgSiK had.
Game four:
Continuing to show his constant improvement with Protoss, Classic demolished Crazy in the fourth game of the night with a well timed zealot phoenix attack that hit just before Crazy’s swarm hosts managed to pop out. While he ended up getting pushed back, he managed to take out both of Crazy’s expansions before having to be forced back, putting the KT Zerg at a terrible disadvantage. From there, he teched to DTs and surged his army forward, using splash from his archons and forcefields to eliminate the low number of swarm hosts in Crazy’s army. It was a formality from there on out and as DTs destroyed Crazy’s main, the KT Zerg realized he had no chance of coming back and gg’d.
Game five:
The last game of the night was a PvP, in what was an embarrassing end to KT’s storied run through Proleague. Mini opened the game up with a 3 gate timing, managing to hit just before Zest’s own warpgates were done. Unfortunately, he was thwarted by the nexus cannon and had to retreat to the outskirts of Zest’s main. With superior micro, Zest was able to save more of his stalkers and slowly overpower Mini’s force, and began his counter-attack. Unfortunately, Zest made two critical mistakes in his rush to end the game -- he suicided his mothership core, which allowed Mini to continually forcefield his ramp without threat of Zest’s stalkers attacking his army, and Zest did not have vision of his entire main, which gave Mini the space to put a cheeky proxy pylon in the KT Protoss’ base, warping in zealot after zealot while Zest’s main army was attempting to squeeze past a forcefield. It was all over at that point, as Mini’s zealots ravaged Zest’s probe line and Zest could only watch in horror as he tried desperately to enter Mini’s base.
