Greetings and welcome to International Tournament Roundup! Sick of wading through countless threads, posts, and articles looking for recent SC2 tournament results? The TeamLiquid International Tournament Roundup is the one-stop shop for all of your tournament result needs, and it's coming to you twice each and every month.

Don't be fooled, the GSL is great, but there's a massive amount of talent outside of Korea. Foreign juggernauts are battling it out in epic games, and in epic tournaments, on a daily basis. After all, our boys have more than proven that they can compete.

Who's the current top dog outside of Korea?

Please note that if an event is not listed, it is likely because it either didn't make the prizemoney cutoff, or results were simply not properly recorded in public view by tournament administration. Don't blame me, blame the event admins. I can't do their job for them. Thanks!

Top Dog

There's a ton of powerhouses outside of Korea, but who's this edition's top dog? Let's take a look at which players have posted the most impressive results over the past 2 weeks.

Note: This isn't a simple prize-money or medals ranking. It is based upon a combination of overall player performance, quality of competition, significance of events won, money won, activity, and my most sincere attempt at unbiased subjectivity. It only considers performances in events which concluded within this period.

+ Show Spoiler [Honorable Mentions] +

(T)Tarson !!

A foreign BroodWar mainstay, Tarson has thus far taken up a similar role in SC2. Attending the Homestory Cup III alongside juggernauts such as (Z)IdrA, (T)ThorZaIN, (P)Bischu, (Z)DIMAGA, (T)GoOdy, and (P)Adelscott, there admittedly wasn't a whole lot expected of this player, especially when he fell to the loser's bracket in the very first round. "The &%*#ing Tarson" then surprised everyone as he rallied back, taking out each and every one of the aforementioned players, not in single games, but in BO3 series play. He eventually fell to (P)MC, but not before taking a game off of the Protoss powerhouse.

Total Prizewinnings: ~$? USD
(Tarson took home an undisclosed portion of ~€1,250 which was spread among the players.)

(Z)CatZ !!

The fan-favorite Zerg's results for this edition are as unique as the player himself. (Z)CatZ cleaned up the small Eye of Esports opening event, but this was the only standard tournament that he managed to find results in. His additional successes included the flawless 4-0 defense of his title in "The V" showmatch series, as well as the taking 1st place in the largest 2v2 event I've ever heard of, sharing a whopping $750 with his partner (T)Drewbie.

Total Prizewinnings: ~$575 USD

(T)SarenS !!

While he may have only posted a single result, it was definitely a major one. (T)SarenS showed that it was his day in the country of France, with a friendly slaying of his fellow French players in the eOSL Summer '11 event. Along with this victory, he had the pleasure of bringing home the biggest piece of the staggeringly large prize pool pie.

Total Prizewinnings: ~$2,892 USD

[image loading] Third
+ Show Spoiler [Third] +
[image loading]
(T)dde !!

This recently monstrous Terran is showing no signs of letting up. (T)dde snatched up another large $1,000+ event this past couple weeks in the Thermaltake Esports Challenge, placing over terrifying players such as (P)CrunCher and (T)SeleCT. In addition to this, he placed 2nd in the Map of the Month event. I'm not going to lie, I had a few doubts on whether dde's success would continue so soon, but at this point I'm done counting this guy out.

Total Prizewinnings: ~$1,550 USD

[image loading] Runner-Up
+ Show Spoiler [Runner-Up] +
[image loading]
(Z)Nerchio !!

As always, the master of online events added a ton of notches to his belt in the way of FIVE online cups: Two Zotac Cups, a Gigabyte Cup, a Close Combat Cup, and the Gameplaycash Open. What more can be said about (Z)Nerchio? One thing of course: LAN Events plz!?

Total Prizewinnings: ~$760 USD

[image loading] Top Dog
+ Show Spoiler [The Top Dog] +
[image loading]
(P)HuK !!

"Wait what? But.. There were... Koreans!?" That's right, a major LAN event which included some of the highest regarded top Korean player(s) was finally taken down by a non-Korean. Oh... And I guess I should probably mention that he did it TWICE in 2 weeks. While he may be considered Korean-trained by the standards of many, and it certainly is a testament to the Korean method of practice, there's no denying the significance of his victories. (P)HuK took gold in both DreamHack Summer and the Homestory Cup III, some of the most competitive events with some of the biggest prize pools around. There's nothing left to do but sit back and cheer our home town hero toward the next obvious step up: Code "S" Gold. Until then, he'll just have to settle for being Top Dog. =P

Total Prizewinnings: ~$19,111 USD

Really nice tournament roundup. Thank you for putting time and effort into this. Regarding the ESL Iron Lady Opening Cup, the third place winner is "MaddeLisk", not "MaddieLisk" and she is Swedish.

Osho obtained entrance into the main Dreamhack event, but the other two did not. According to my sources, he did not get the 650 euro. Since he didn't get paid, the result isn't recorded here. If he did get paid (and my source is incorrect), I'll need a reliable source or two to clarify this.

If it actually was, could you provide a source? My source, which is directly from the tourny admin, says that Ddoro came in 2nd... But perhaps he typo'ed or something.

"Wait what? But.. There were... Koreans!?" That's right, a major LAN event which included some of the highest regarded top Korean player(s) was finally taken down by a non-Korean. Oh... And I guess I should probably mention that he did it TWICE in 2 weeks.

Yes I love Huk hes an amazing player but that statement is kind of wrong.
He beat koreans such as Moon and July but they both aren't the highest regarded
Moon isn't even code A and July got knocked out of code S recently
He didn't beat Bomber or MC who really were the top dogs of the tournement and are code S level

Im not trying to belittle Huk's achievements but everyone is acting like Huk can beat all the top koreans now...uh, no.

Osho obtained entrance into the main Dreamhack event, but the other two did not. According to my sources, he did not get the 650 euro. Since he didn't get paid, the result isn't recorded here. If he did get paid (and my source is incorrect), I'll need a reliable source or two to clarify this.

He didnt qualify for event. He just replaced my spot because I wasnt able to attend. Technically he just played for fun therefore he didnt get any prize

So Huk is considered non-Korean since despite his training, he is a canadian and Select is considered a non-Korean since despite his nationality he is active in the foreign community, but what about the other professional Koreans (by nationality) who started to compete in the foreign scene? They were left out in the medal ranking. :-/

As a general rule, Koreans who are on Korean progaming teams are not included in the rankings since this is a news post which is meant to focus on non-korean events. If they participate in international events, they are of course credited in the results, but simply aren't noted in the medals ranking or eligible to be featured as a 'top dog'.

It doesn't make logical sense, I know, but the GSL (and Korea) really is a completely different beast. If included, it'd simply dominate the entire feature and take away from the spirit of it, as it is meant to focus on 'non-korean' events. It's also meant to showcase the growth of esports outside of Korea, as well as the amazing players that exist outside of Korea.

edit: as a side note, this may indeed be re-evaluated in the future.

Nope. I know for a fact Osho played the BYOC #1 with the rest of his team (Alien Invasion), won it playing straight through the night, and qualified to Jinro's group, going 2-3 in the group.
Where did you come up with that replacement thing dde?

About the prize, indeed. There were 3 BYOC tournaments. The first was to qualify to the groups of the main Dreamhack event, and the other 2 were for a cash prize and a wildcard entry to Dreamhack Winter 2011.

Looking through the archive I noticed that mtw.DIMAGA used to win a lot of the tournaments listed, yet he hasn't won anything lately (jun 15-30). Not that it's a big thing, since it's such a short time, since last tournament roundup, still I can't help to wonder, if it's because he has been up to something else starcraft 2 wise. Anyone knows if that might be the case, and if so, what it is ?
Again, it's not that big of a deal, just curious.
