IG Cup #8 - Over $200 in Prize Pool

To register click HERE

Our monthly IG Cup events are 128-participant, single elimination tournaments open to players of all skill levels. This IG Cup's prize pool is over $200 USD. Additionally, the top three finishers qualify to participate in this season's IG Gosu Grandmaster Cup in June (Friday, the 17th), which will award $200 USD to the winners.

PRIZE:
1ST PLACE - $70 USD + SteelSeries 3H USB Headset ($49.99 retail value) for first place. Payment will be through Paypal.

2ND PLACE - $20 USD + SteelSeries Zboard($49.99 retail value) for second place. Payment will be through Paypal.

3RD PLACE - SteelSeries Zboard Limited Edition Keysete Starcraft II ($24.99 retail value) for third place.

IG Gosu Grandmaster Cup Qualification Details:
+ Show Spoiler +
Top three finishers of this tournament qualify to participate in this season's IG Gosu Grandmaster Cup in June. Other players who make it to this tournament's Round of 8 will be seeded on the waiting list for this season's IG Gosu Grandmaster Cup based on their ladder ranking. These players are encouraged to show up and check-in for this season's IG Gosu Grandmaster Cup, as they will have the chance to take the place of a previously qualified player who does not show up and/or check-in.

Placing in the top three in any IG Gosu Cup does not disqualify a participant from participating in future IG Gosu Cups. If a player qualifies more than once in a month, their additional spot(s) in this season's IG Gosu Grandmaster Cup will be filled by players on the waiting list based on ladder ranking.

CHECK-IN PROCESS
+ Show Spoiler +

- To check-in, click on the "Check-in" tab between 5:00PM - 5:45 PM (EST). If you have any questions log into battle.net chat channel itsgosu and contact sKsDark or Voss.

- If a player does not check in by 5:45PM (EST), their spot will be filled by those on the waiting list and/or they will be removed from that week's tournament roster.

MAP POOL:
+ Show Spoiler +

Each series will be played on the designated maps listed below. Each stage of the tournament will begin on the maps as identified below, and all best-of-x series match-ups will proceed on a “loser's choice” basis, with the loser of each game choosing the next map from the pool listed below as the map to be used in the next game of the series. Each map may only be played once in a given series.

- Metalopolis* (Round of 128)

- Xel'Naga Caverns* (Round of 64)

- Shakuras Plateau* (Round of 32 starting map)

- Tal'Darim Altar** (Round of 16 starting map)

- iCCup Testbug** (Round of 8 starting map)

- Bel'Shir Beach (Semi-finals starting map)

- Terminus SE** (Finals starting map)

* These maps will be those which are being used in the 2011 Major League Gaming events. Metalopolis, Xel'Naga Caverns, and Shakuras Plateau have been modified to have a buried, destructible supply depot below each spawn ramp to ensure that the bottom of ramps cannot be blocked with only two pylons or bunkers. Metalopolis has been modified to ensure either cross-map or close-air spawn positions. Shakuras Plateau now has no destructible rocks behind spawn positions, and only allows for cross-map or close-air spawn positions.

** These maps are the same as those in most current usage by the GSL or iCCup.

CASTING:
Select match-ups will be casted live by It's Gosu staff members Ayesee and Redmagejr.

Bump. Sounds like a lot of fun! Must be tough organizing all of this, so props to the website.

Yes, this is only for NA accounts. But if we get more interest from EU players, we can host one for that account.

Thanks for the support and joining the tournament. It's a lot tougher to get players to register and actually show up

Hey, I have a question about this: how do you guys seed players? I realize it'd be too difficult doing a ladder check on every single player, but is it possible for a gold leaguer (ala me) to get matched up against a super gosu Grand Master?

I'm not calling imbalance or anything like that (I don't care, I just want to play against good people anyway), just curious what happens behind the scenes.

We seed the players by their ladder ranking and previous IG tournament participation. Probably only gonna see top 10 players or so.
