TeamSpeak TL SC2 Open #17
June 23rd, 2011 01:39 GMT
TeamSpeak TL SC2 Open #17 (NA) Two weeks ago, we announced that TeamSpeak was sponsoring the TL SC2 Open Series again. The first series was a great success and produced some awesome games and provided the backbone for our TSL3 Qualifiers. You may recognize some of the past winners: Dignitas.Select, ROOT.Drewbie, Empire.Nerchio, Empire.Kas, mouz.Thorzain, Tt.White-Ra, and many others. Previous TL Open VODs can be found here.
The last TL Open #16 was won by HwangSin, a Korean progamer from the team MVP. He defeated sixjax.MajOr in the finals. You might see him in the upcoming GSTL Season 1. Check out VODs and replays from that tournament here.
TeamSpeak has also provided us with an official TL TeamSpeak 3 server which has been running since November 2010. You'll see many TL users hanging out there at all hours of the day, and our staff use it as a place to play team games, watch movies, and interact with the TL community. Check it out!
TeamSpeak TL SC2 #17 Tournament Details This TL SC2 Open will take place on the NA server. We would normally hold this one on EU (since the last one was on NA) but the HomeStoryCup is this weekend and almost every European pro is playing in that. This tournament will have a prize pool of $200. Players who place high in these 12 tournaments will earn points and be invited to a single day invite tournament with $1,000 in prize money.
Registration for the tournament will open Thursday, Jun 23 10:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). Tournament begins on Saturday, Jun 25 4:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). View details and register here.
Professional players can PM Hot_Bid for early registration. Please include Bnet NA id, code#, race, and country.
For those that haven't participated in a TL Open before, it's a great opportunity to play in a well-run event broadcast by some great commentators. If you'd like to help cast the earlier rounds of a TL Open, feel free to apply here.
This TL Open will be casted by DreamHack casters TotalBiscuit and Apollo.
About our Sponsor The TeamLiquid SC2 Open is proudly sponsored by TeamSpeak Systems GmbH, developers of popular TeamSpeak voice chat software for online gamers and now, with their latest TeamSpeak 3 SDK product, virtual worlds and integrated solutions. TeamSpeak enables groups of people to speak with one another over the Internet using their Windows, Mac, or Linux based computer, much like a telephone conference call. Android and iPhone support are also expected to be released in Q3 of 2011. A TeamSpeak user will typically wear a headset with an integrated microphone and connect to his guild or clan's TeamSpeak server to chat with fellow team mates, discuss strategy in real-time, or facilitate online events.
TeamSpeak 3 features include: in-game overlay for DirectX and OpenGL games, simplified permissions system with advanced user toggle, firewall friendly file transfer, BBCode enabled info panes, voice encryption toggle on a per-channel basis, global public web server list, tabbed multi-server connectivity, tabbed text chatting with logging, user avatars, friends lists, offline messaging, and a fully customizable client UI supporting skins, sound packs, and plugins. TeamSpeak is FREE to use for non-commercial entities.
If you are interested in sponsoring a TeamLiquid SC2 Open or one of our other events, please see our advertising / sponsorship page.

Pretty cool of teamspeak, I will try not to get knocked out first round again I wonder if any KR pros are going to enter this week, hope the word gets around.
|
Excellent. This may or may not be a harbinger of TSL4, but it'll be exciting nonetheless.

Oh baby, can't wait to watch this, and i hope we can find some sweet players, and some sweeter players! GL to all who aspire to play in said tournament.
|
|
Can't wait! These are always awesome
|
|
I really hope more players from the Korean ladder show up!
|
This is amazing cant wait
|
lol@1 Korean applied 1 Korean won
That's humiliating.
edit: I really hope foreigners bring it this time. Looking for someone like Idra or Select or Naniwa to do some damage...*crosses fingers*
|
Do I want to embarrass myself again by losing in the round of 1024 again...Got nothing to lose besides dignity I suppose

It'd be awesome if somebody from the Homestory Cup decided to play in the TLOpen and took the whole thing.
|
Does anyone actually use teamspeak? I remember it being popular in CS 1.6 days. I figured most people these days used skype.
Looking forward to seeing all the games!

I am also wondering if teamspeak is actually any good now? Have they made improvements?
Edit: Well obviously they have made improvements but has anyone tried it?

|
Edit: Nvm, read the thread! Forgot about homestory cup.
|
So this one will be held on the EU server right?

Because of HomeStory cup which has a lot of EU pro's attending they decided to do this TLOpen on NA as well to have some sort of field remaining.
|
Woohoo, gonna join again and hope I don't get matched against another GM player in the first round.

If you read the thread it says clearly that they would usually host this one on EU, but because of HomeStory Cup, they are going to host this one on NA.

Are the early rounds usually dominated by cheez?
|
Total Biscuit and Apollo casting!
Two great casters. Definitely can't wait to watch this one.

Always nice with tournaments hosted by TL. Lets hope some great players sign up.
|
