I've been lurking here for the past year and been getting back into starcraft. Isn't the fourth commandment of the forum "THOU SHALL CONTRIBUTE TO THE SITE"-- I saw no point in spamming posts if I had nothing to add. Considering that I was living in Korea when BW came out and remember spending hours in smoky internet cafes playing starcraft (and sucking as a 10 year old) it's quite rude to suggest I read this site just to "post 'gimme'". It's been a nostalgia trip reconnecting to something that was imprinted into my mind as a kid and that I lived through the beginning of. A lot of people who are returning to the game are not qualified enough to really talk about it, and shouldn't be disparaged for simply loving the game.

I'll admit that I'm someone who finally joined TL at the chance at getting a key. I've been watching SC1 replays for years, just never had the dedication to practice myself. Perhaps things can change with a SC2 beta key =D

I just want to ask you guys this: Please post SOME of the draws/scavenger hunts/ whatever, on European/Asian time. It's killing me to wake up at 7 a.m. CET and see 99 pages of scavenger hunt #2 and practically all the keys gone.

It's nice to have people "join" the community. Just make sure they're here to "join" the community and not just create an account, winget a beta key and never visit the site ever again -.-. Make them at least put some effort into it. Would I do it? I dunno, I'd feel pretty bad to go over to a place like gg.net or w/e, create an account, never read/post there, and just sign up like a vulture for a beta key. But that's just me. Most people probably wouldn't have that kind of feeling.

After three years of reading/watching/loving TL, a shot at a key seemed like a good reason to finally pull the trigger on making an account.

I don't speak for TL, but I don't think I'm off-base in saying that this is completely not what TL is about.
Indeed. I'm an absolute nobody around here and don't feel justified in the least begging for a key without having done anything to earn it. I missed the nomination thread, but I hope many long-time contributors are rewarded with a beta key first and foremost, e.g., disciple's mostly tacit contributions have always been amazing, yakii if he's up for it, marcoso, the TLPD pit crew working behind the scenes, dozens of others I can't name off the top of my head. They're the ones that have made TL so great.
At least with the amount of keys this time around, TL can reward those contributors as well as play these giveaways and scavenger hunt contests for the other members at large, so I guess it's understandable that these newcomers are all so eager.
