As far as I am concerned IRC infiltration is not at all what this game is about. And it really destroys the fun and challenging aspect of the game. Feel free to convince me otherwise. | ||

when a side has a list of players & roles, the game not only feels tainted but plays less interesting overall. once it becomes obvious that one side has a full list of roles, there's little intrigue left. everyone just waits for the end to see wtf happened. people should remember that for future games but there are always people who do dumb shit. BAN FOLCA!  anyway, it's true the yamo family wasn't very guarded or active. obviously, it didn't help that 5 (our most vocal members mind you) of us were killed on the first day. bloodycobbler here's why I went for you early. bloodycobbler: His posts this game are: saying infundibulum is temp banned and voting for mtf with no reason. Now contrast this with game 3, where he is a towny and is one of the most active ones, makes somewhat long, well thought out posts, and is a good analyzer. This keeps him from being under too much suspicion even though he was on the votelist with a 40% chance of being mafia from that alone. FURTHERMORE, he is active, just not posting in our game. During the time that this current game has been going on, he's made 7 other posts in the game 3 thread, and the low frequency was only because the game was virtually dead/over (although he still put time into 1-2 of them). Thus, there is no way he can claim inactivity. I heavily suspect silent mafia wanting to avoid detection. --------- This strategy of targeting worked *ok* but far worse than I thought. I have no idea why but a lot of previous big performers just didn't care this game. The problem with irc infiltration is that it removes virtually all risk. Like we were so suspicious of certain things (showtime being godfather, kweezy being capo, capos posing as dts in general) but the only things that ever happened were mtf running for mayor and artanis roleclaiming vigi. The Yamaguchi were much easier to figure out because they had to expose themselves to get MTF to run for mayor, while the Lucchese could just hide back with all their information and never expose anything. To the end of the game I only had folca, fishball, artanis, myheronoob, and incognito on a list with several others as 'highly likely mafia.' Other random things: inertinept roleclaimed medic but was actually a townie lol. Btw I'm not fully convinced that the blues were just figured out from pure analysis. I know that many gave themselves away (bgs, kh, kweezy, delanzia, lucaswoj, scaramanga, malongo to name a few) but some of them were almost totally inactive and had little to differentiate them from the rest (ninja4ever, softer, spetial, midnight gladius, bluemanrocks). Mind elaborating, because 1 single misshit in day 3 is really odd. Oh yeah Ace, mind listing the role actions? I'm curious to see who followed orders, and why the hell softer had no bombs planted. | ||

MrBabyHands: i was only in there one or twice. i wrote a script that monitored all the members in the teamliquid irc channel. it tried to join all channels that the other members were also in. ones that were passworded peaked my curiosity. there wasnt much discussed in non-passworded channels. i think yours was y-gorilla or something i modified the program to keep trying to join the channel, hoping that everybody might leave and i can sneak in. then it was simply a matter of hiding myself in the channel using user modes (+D i think). it makes you invisible unless you talk. i only was in there a few times. long enough to piece together who your members were and the few blue roles that were discussed. i did the same to the townie channel. i dont think theirs was passworded at first. but they also didnt discuss much. just enough for me to get some more blue roles. i really didnt spend that much time in there tho. i monitored it for a few days at most. lol. caller actually caught me one time in the town channel before i was able to go invisible, but i talked my way out of it. Also, Mrbabyhands is friends with the players who came from the other site, and didn't let them know that he was playing this game too, and he found out what their roles were. | ||
