Game will start Thursday, Jan 26 10:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) in . If I'm still missing a confirmation 1 hour before that point, sharkie will have the spot.

Everybody has confirmed! Game will start Thursday, Jan 26 10:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) in . Roles will be sent 1 hour before the start of the game. Remember that you're expected to be able to vote or nominate a team pretty often in this setup, so if something IRL happens and you need to be replaced please warn the hosts ASAP:

Like in voice I think no one was intent to oppose anyone on the first team anyway, when we played. It was mostly just seeing if it fails or not, there wasn't anything to discuss. That's might not a bad idea. But we won't change the rules so close to the start of the game. Plus, I don't know if I agree that the first 24 hours are totally useless. In a normal mafia game, the first hours are kinda useless to determine alignments, but pretty important to start the game. Regardless of what I think of it though, I don't want to change something this impactful hours before the start. For example it could mean that someone thought he needed to absolutely log in Saturday to not miss the vote, and that he could slack off Thursday during the first nomination; and when he comes back Saturday he actually missed a vote a got a warning.

Résistance VI
La lutte pour la liberté sur la Loire
Welcome to Montlouis-sur-Loire, a village nestled along the banks of the Loire, in the Touraine region. You are in the Garden of France, the Val de Loire, known for its fine wines, beautiful vistas, its exceptional cultural landscape of historic cities and villages, and the grand architecture of its châteaux.
But the year is 1942, and these things matter not. France is under occupation; the world is at war.
It has been two years since the German invasion punched through the Low Countries and completely outflanked the strong prepared defenses of the Maginot Line. Using their air superiority and armoured mobility, German forces drove the British back across the Channel and pushed deep into France, causing the government to flee from Paris in disarray, and ultimately forcing the capitulation of the remaining French forces.
Welcome to a France that has been subjugated to the needs of the German war machine. Agriculture, mining, industry — everything goes toward the war effort. Food is strictly rationed. Fuel is in short supply. Factories are put to work manufacturing weapons, vehicles, tanks and other war materiel. Even the workforce is not to be spared, with the recent introduction of Service du travail obligatoire, the conscription and deportation of French people to serve as forced labour in work camps on German soil, compensating for the German loss of manpower as it continues to enlist more and more soldiers.
To top it all off, under the conditions of the Second Armistice of Compiègne, France is obliged to pay for the costs of the German occupation forces: 20 million Reichsmark per day.
Two years ago from the BBC in London, General de Gaulle delivered his radio address « À tous les Français » :
« Le dernier mot est-il dit ? L’espérance doit-elle disparaître ? La défaite est-elle définitive ? Non ! ... Car la France n’est pas seule ! Elle n’est pas seule ! Elle n’est pas seule ! »
“Has the last word been said? Must hope disappear? Is defeat final? No! ... For France is not alone! She is not alone! She is not alone!”
« Quoi qu’il arrive, la flamme de la résistance française ne doit pas s’éteindre et ne s’éteindra pas. »
“Whatever happens, the flame of the French resistance must not be extinguished and will not be extinguished.”
This marked the beginning of La Résistance.
Here too, in Montlouis-sur-Loire, La Résistance has not been idle. Thus far, the flame here has been kept hidden, burning in the shadows.
But not for much longer.
Silence please! Roles will now be randomized, and PMs will be going out soon. Game will start in . Please wait for the Mission 1 post to begin posting. Bonne chance à tous, et amusez vous bien!

All role PMs should be out. If by mistake you didn't receive one, contact me ASAP.

Resistance VI FAQ
Can I ask questions to the hosts ?
Not publicly in thread. Ask any questions you have to the hosts with private messages. Do not talk about anything you might have talked about with the hosts in thread.
When it's my turn to nominate a team, how do I do it ?
You nominate the team directly in thread, using the pattern ##nominate: Player1, Player2 etc. You can change your nomination as many times as you want until the deadline.
When a team has been nominated, how do I vote ?
You vote by PMing the hosts "APPROVE" or "REJECT". You can change your vote as many times as you like until the deadline. You can talk about your vote in thread if you want, but only the last vote sent to the vote will be official. At deadline the hosts will publish the votes; if there is a majority of APPROVE, the team is sent; if not, the next team leader takes its turn.
If I'm on a team that got sent to a mission, what do I do ?
If you are a member of the Resistance, nothing. If you are a Spy: - if you want to sabotage the mission, send "SABOTAGE" to the hosts. You can change your mind as many times before deadline - the last PM will count. - if you do not want to sabotage the mission, do nothing.
What happens if a team leader fails to nominate a team ?
They get a warning. No team gets nominated, and the next team leader takes its turn. The number of nomination left before the auto-accepted team gets decreased.
What happens if the fifth leader fails to nominate a team ?
They get a warning. The next team leader takes its turn as if he was the fifth leader.
What happens if a player fails to vote to accept or reject a nominated team ?
That player gets a warning. The vote is counted as REJECT.
What is the deal with warnings ?
If you ever get two warnings, you will be replaced. That is because a game of resistance is usually ruined if a player becomes inactive, as unlike a normal game of mafia, they cannot be lynched / vig'd.
Can I talk about the wording of my role PM ?
No. And I updated the OP with the role PM templates.
Am I an awesome person ?
Yes, since you like playing Resistance.

Mission 1
L’infiltration
For a period of about five or six months last year, a highly successful resistance network operated out of Châteauroux, about 100 kilometers to our southeast in Vichy territory. It began in May, when « Georges » was parachuted into the region. The English-speaking French soldier had been serving as a liaison to British troops when he was evacuated with them out of the Dunkirk pocket. By the time he returned, he had become an agent of the Special Operations Executive. With the suitcase transmitter that he brought, « Georges » provided a crucial radio link with London, through which arms and supply drops could be arranged. Other agents followed to help grow the network and establish new cells in other cities.
But it all unraveled in October when the agent « Paulot » in was captured in Limoges by la Surveillance du Territoire. He had addresses and other incriminating information on his person, including that of the Châteauroux nexus. Compromised from the core, the network was quickly wiped out, with many agents and résistants arrested in rapid succession.
Remnants of that network scattered and went into hiding, but they have now begun to come out of the woodwork again. Plans are currently afoot to have one of their radio operators infiltrate into Tours, just eight kilometers to our west, to join an existing cell there. He will also be smuggling in a transmitter with which to establish a direct connection to the SOE in Britain. Since Tours is a major rail transportation hub, this will help immensely with improving the flow of intelligence regarding the state of German logistics as well as troop dispositions and movements through the region.
His route from Châteauroux will generally avoid main roads and densely populated areas, and he will travel by night, so that part of the operation will be fairly low-risk. The infiltration of Tours itself, on the other hand, will be dangerous. He will make his penultimate stop right here in Montlouis-sur-Loire, where he must stop sneaking in the shadows, and hazard one of the checkpoints leading into the city.
That is where we come in.
We have had a full set of forged papers and permits prepared to help the radio operator establish a false identity and cover story for traveling to Tours. Our task is to meet him on the outskirts of Montlouis-sur-Loire, provide him with the forged documents, and hide him in a safehouse until he is rested. When he is ready, we shall reconnoitre ahead to identify a suitable checkpoint for him to use. The ideal place is an understaffed location; the best time would be when it is busiest.
Finally, a handful of us will travel separately and arrive at the checkpoint together with the radio operator at a predetermined time. As locals of the area, we can easily arrange a routine delivery of wine to the city without raising any suspicion. At the checkpoint, we will stage a mishap with the goods, creating a distraction to draw the sentries’ attention and hopefully help our friend make it through with less scrutiny.

Mission Sabotaged
Grackaroni, sharkie, Silverika and Vivax set out before daybreak in order to cross the Cher-Loire Canal with the morning rush. There was some congestion at the Barriere de l'Ecluse checkpoint, governing the crossing at the northern end of the canal where it connected to the old riverport through a set of locks. The canal basin, heavily damaged by artillery and bombs during the invasion, stood in ruins, having not been repaired since. People and carts waiting to enter Tours formed a line along the embankment; on the opposite side, a few German sentries stood guard upon the rubble of the former slipway.
With the recent increase in Résistance activity — by us as well as other cells in the area — security had been noticeably tightened. The guards screened each person passing through the checkpoint carefully, scrutinizing their papers and searching their possessions thoroughly. Thanks to excellent planning, our equipment had been smuggled ahead into the city, so our résistants were not carrying concealed weapons. Our team was thus able to make it into the city — with slightly frayed nerves, but otherwise none the worse for wear.
Once across the canal, our résistants ducked out of sight, away from the busy main roads. Down along Rue du Rempart they went, zigzagging along where the town walls had stood in the 16th century, and onward to a safehouse on the corner of Place Loiseau d'Entraigues, where they’d pick up the equipment that had been sent on ahead.
But as the team approached, they noted an unfavourable sign: among various articles of clothing hanging upon the railings of a second floor window, a red scarf — a signal for danger. Once outside the building itself, the reason became apparent: across the other side of the plaza, and all along the main artery of Boulevard Heurteloup, large numbers of German soldiers could be seen out and about. With a coded knock on the door, the team hastily gained entry into the safehouse so as not to arouse suspicion by waiting around in public.
Inside, a résistant from Tours briefed the team to bring them up to date on the situation in the city: Germans were out in force everywhere, with unusually heavy patrols all over the city. Scouts had reported that major plazas and main streets were well guarded — including the market district where the diversionary attack was to take place, as well as Place Velpeau, in front of our target warehouse.
It was pretty clear that the Germans had got wind of our plan somehow and mobilized in response. Against an alert and prepared enemy, outnumbered and under-equipped; it was simply not feasible to proceed. The operation had to be called off. Crossing the Cher railway bridge by force was also out of the question, so an alternate exfiltration route was hastily put together, avoiding known concentrations of German troops.
If the enemy knew we’d come from the east, then heading back across the Cher-Loire Canal would be risky. The Pont du Cher road bridge was also too well guarded and too close to the railway bridge from the original plan. So a route to the south and west was plotted. A nerve-wracking escape followed: out the back door and through back yards and alleyways our team headed, scurrying like rats through the city on a wide detour. They eventually crossed the Cher at Saint Sauveur before backtracking east again to reach the rendezvous outside Saint-Avertin.
That was last week. We’ve since received word out of Tours that the safehouse we used was compromised only a couple of days later. Something’s definitely not quite right.
Mission 3
En Dehors des Rails
The collapse of our plan to steal explosives from the Germans is a setback, but we have other means of obtaining what we need. Thanks to our radio link in Tours to the SOE in Britain, La Résistance has been able to arrange for a large shipment of supplies to be airdropped into nearby Indre. Some of which have been allocated to us, in return for our role in helping to establish that vital connection.
Besides weapons and ammunition, we’ve also received some explosives. The general directive we’ve received is to use them to disrupt rail transport in the vicinity and thus cripple an important node in the German logistics network. Although the rail yards and other infrastructure in Tours and St-Pierre-des-Corps are tempting targets, the situation in and around Tours is far too dangerous at the moment to attempt to smuggle weapons and explosives in, let alone carry out a bold attack. So we’ll be turning our attention elsewhere for now.
Furthermore, we’ll need to gain some experience in handling and using explosives on a smaller scale before contemplating a more complex operation. Among the explosives we’ve received are some shaped charges designed specifically for train derailment, so let’s start with those. The pictorial instructions that came with them look simple enough, at least.
So, we shall target the regular troop train from Nevers and Bourges, which passes just south of us on its way to Tours and other points west. This is a smaller train running on a less important, low-traffic line, so it would be a nice, soft target for our initial foray with explosives. We’ll set up the charges at an ambush position west of Saint-Martin-le-Beau. Detonate them as the train approaches, then assault and finish off any survivors using our newly acquired firearms.
