This is the last I will state of this, and probably the last time I will ever address anything concerning redFF this game:
redFF has been instigating me. I am annoyed. I do not believe he is worth listening to. My point has been made.
I am not going to involve out-of-thread business in this but that is all that I will state. I'll notify GM and the cohosts if I deem necessary. I'm not interested in elevating this personal feud any more.
I'm sorry to anyone who has to read this, and I do not intend to derail the thread.

You have so much sway with the majority of people that if anyone actually calls you out once you have your tight rein on town, you'll get your herd to quick lynch the offender. I said if YM failed to convince me I might be inclined to change my vote from prplhz to Palmar. I'm not quite ready to do that yet, because I feel prplhz has said some additional things that make sense to me, but I am willing to dismiss any suspicions against Palmar. ______________________________________ Ultimately, my main concern now for picking Palmar is the "what if" factor. What if he is mafia? Even if his former mafia play is poor, as he claims, people evolve and learn. The simple fact is that if a veteran becomes mayor and ends up being mafia, I trust them above anyone else to be careful enough to hide themselves, even whilst they are under extreme scrutiny. On the other hand, what if he is town? He claims to be an excellent mafia hunter. Making him mayor would prove a valuable asset, as he would presumably have bodyguards to keep him alive and do his job. If he wasn't elected mayor as a town, from what I understand, veterans townies are often first-turn targets. Unfortunately, I fall under a mindset of "plan for the worst, hope for the best." The 5:1 town to mafia ratio may or may not include RNG veteran dispersion. On the chance it doesn't, the odds shift in a way I'm not comfortable with them shifting. That goes for any veteran, not just Palmar. Some people have claimed to play a few games with prplhz, but I gather he is less of a veteran than others. In hindsight, I believe his policies require some revision, but I still believe his words to be very town-like. supersoft and redFF have quoted prplhz in saying that he is appealing to a newbies emotions to gather votes and not logic. I don't quite read him that way- when prplhz said "If you are afraid that you might make a silly mistake because this is your first game, and scum will jump on you for it and try to get you lynched, you need to vote me for mayor" I do see the emotional connotations behind it, but the logic as well. He is willing to apply critical thinking before incriminating a newbie for a minor mistake, where others with LaLiars policies may automatically assume newbie mistakes are evidence of mafia affiliation (man, I really hate the words scum/scummy.) My vote stays with prplhz for now- however, is still very up for grabs. I think it is safe to say I won't vote for Palmar, though- not because he doesn't make good arguments, but because of my maybe-irrational "what if" fear. I should note the italicized part, because it sounds like you know something about the scum count versus town...Right now, I'm still voting Sandroba over Palmar because I think that Palmar would make a better jailer than a mayor; and that Sandroba is more level-headed yet has the same overall plan that Palmar has. Specifically, I have concerns that I think should be addressed by town as well, since they are linked to the mayoralty race we have right now. 1. How are we to pick the Sheriff of the town? The role can make or break the mayor and his ability to help guide town in two ways; by increasing his survivability through jailing people who might be potential threats or need saving, and by ensuring that no leaks in the mayor's protection are present. If the Sheriff turns out to be scum, it would be trivial to take out the Mayor and his bodyguards and render our voting useless today. 2. What would be potential candidates' policy be on multiple lynchings? Are there concrete plans already in the works that you wish to tell us, or will you be playing it by ear and timing it for days where there are clearly multiple lynching candidates that need to be run up?
A couple of people have mentioned it before as well, its in the OP:
16/16 Mafia Remain 64/64 Townies remain.

Spartan, I know i have a cool name and that is indeed almost a viable reason to vote me, but we really are going to need more reasoning than that. Is it just my name? do you like my policies? do you think the other candidates are inadequate?

Both of you stop with your petty insults. Did you forget that this is a newbie game? Nobody, not the vets and especially not the newbies, should have to go through the facepalm-inducing argument that you two have somehow filled the last three pages with.
Relevant to game: I would like to hear from BC. Until then, I'm not going to say much since I'm a target (ALREADY)

Any further mudslinging from either of you (wbg and redff) is going to result in my wrath. If you can't say things in a civil manner then stay the hell out of my thread. Consider this your first and only warning, lighting looms on the horizon.

I don't think it really matters who gets sheriff or mayor as long as we ensure the top two leading candidates are town. We obviously need to hold the mayoral candidates to a high standard, so we should definitely be suspicious of candidacies that are motivated weakly or do not seem genuine.
I thought that it might be a big concern in PYP:I but in reality the difference between the two roles is so minimal that the biggest concern should just be ensuring that scum stay out of office. The second biggest concern should be electing players who are the biggest threat to scum. Differentiating mayor and sheriff is one of the least of our concerns.
The second question is a good one; personally I would support double or even triple lynch every day for a few days, as mafia KP is bound to be high. I'm not sure how the mechanic works, if there is one in place. (I'll reread the OP again)

You're both being pathetic kids, and dragging other vets in with you. Are you guys always like this? I enjoyed my first game. So far this has had a few cool interactions and campaigns, followed by pages worth of posting about how everyone else is such terrible people and you're (collective you) totally the best.
How the hell are we meant to find scum when the more proliferent posters in the thread are just spamming with useless shit hurling insults at each other.

Do you see the problem with YM calling for Palmar's death despite never explicitly saying he thinks he's scum?

Bloody hell, I now know not to leave this thread for more than a few hours at a time.
At the moment I only have one thought on the Mayoral race. I'm starting to think there's too much pushing for Palamar. I do not think this is a definite, "Oh my god his scum!" but I'm starting to wonder if it's safe to vote for him for Mayor.
At the moment I'm still holding out a vote, but I'm interested to see the questions Greymist gets.
Take all of this with a grain of salt, it is posted in a turkey induced haze.
