I've already explained why I thought that. If you look at my last posts before I got modkilled I was already moving away from you and Palmar and going in a totally new direction. I might have still argued for lynching Palmar but I was trying to form some sort of idea to win outright since there was no way the Town could win sitting around getting shot.

I noticed this, tried even posting it.

Your modkill was unfortunate because it came at a point where you were seriously reconsidering your stance and understanding bugs, sandroba and I were the last people trying to whip this town into shape, not destroying it.

I did not mean to bash on the hosts in my latest post. Naturally, 80 player games are logistical nightmares, so you can't expect everything to run 100% smoothly. Although I think some things could have been handled better, I understand that some events came up and that pressure, drama, and the mass of inactives made this a frustrating game to host. Good job trying to make things run as smoothly as possible despite the chaos.

I am going to take the hosts side on the Ace case.

I agree with the modkill, I disagree with a ban.

I'm not trading myself 1 for 1 for anyone so don't even go down that path. I know I'm more valuable than the best 5 players in this game outside of myself combined.

Palmar if you want to try and do dumb stuff like that, let's accomplish it in a different way. We'll do my buddy MBH's plan.

Register for paypal. Everyone in the game drops $100 in the bucket. At the end of the game, all Town players get $125. If you're Scum you lose your $100.

You game?

I mean, maybe it's the fact English isn't my native language that's making me misunderstand this, but all I can see here is a proposal of using money to give town an advantage.

The advantage being no one is going to want to lose $100 in a mafia game, and since mafia already knows they're mafia they will not accept the deal. Town players on the other hand have nothing to lose, so there is no reason for them not to accept it.

You are basically forcing an advantage into Town's hands.

Just the very fact that you proposed this should be against the rules. Just like redFF stated that "Anyone pushing for the modkill is mafia" you could argue that "Anyone opposing the idea in any way is mafia".

Just proposing it gives you a slight advantage over me in a battle of arguments. The advantage may be tiny, even only one naive townie who applies the logic "Ace proposed this so he can't be scum, Palmar didn't like it so he must be scum", is enough to make what you did impact the game. Sure, it's dumb to actually give it a second thought, but you and I both know that you can't assume there aren't going to be any dumb townies.

Now, I'm not even a native English speaker, and definitely not a lawyer, so in the end it's not going to be up to me to if this directly breaks rule:

9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits.

Because technically I'm not sure if it's betting because everyone involved would already know the outcome. However, I think anyone with a common sense can understand why this at face value would increase the chances of the person proposing it to be a townie, and the person opposing it to be scum.

From now on, I would suggest adding something like:

9. Betting or leveraging items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits.

To the cheating section, because I am 100% certain that I do not want ideas like this thrown around in mafia games I play. It's outside of the game and has no place in it. Someone will probably figure out a way to phrase it better, so we won't have a similar situation again.

But because the rules are ambiguous, I do not support a ban against Ace. I do however agree with the modkill because no matter how much I think about it, I perceive it giving Ace a slight (even tiny) advantage in our argument, which I am not okay with.

Thanks to hosts for hosting.

I think they had the hardest job of all participating in this game and I think they did very well considering the hard circumstances they were put in.

I hope some of the newbies will seriously consider playing in another game, this game wasn't at all representative of how mafia games on this forum are usually like. Zona's Student Mafia has already started but if there are enough people who want to sign up for another newbie-mini maybe somebody could host that.

Also, I don't think anybody had me pinned as scum so this was maybe my best scum game ever

To clarify for anyone not in IRC... my playstyle this game was lousy because I'm not too sure how to present an analysis just yet and was hoping to appear like a useless target to mafia for the first few days while I learned how to present a case. However, I figured people from my last game (where I was mafia) would notice I wasn't playing the same and thus figure out I was town. Didn't work that way, as BC seemed to be the only person to catch on to that. *shrug*

So apologies for my lackluster play and retarded actions I didn't think through all the way (like my vote switch to Palmar).

A few people figured it out with time... But it was a bad plan anyway.

Btw, for those who missed it, there was a bit of a flamewar between Mousesports and EG on Twitter yesterday:

I like how he walked the red carpet and didn't give a single care in world about people wanting to get a high five or handshake from him. It was so hilarious and man he looked scary in his matches against Strelok. I think he could beat PuMa.

Mouz were obviously making fun of EG. If anyone got frustrated, it was the EG guy, considering how he stopped responding after being addressed as "Bella" ^^

the attempt to murder is treated just as murder in german law.
But I agree with you in general, Aces act wasn't even a full attempt to cheat in the game. It was the first step to prepare an attempt to cheat: He made a plan. And if we come back to the analogy to murder, it was the outspoken plan to murder someone. That's happening everyday everywhere. If we punish that, we have a boundless number of penal acts and we even violate the fundamental right of free expression. Thus I come to the conclusion that the modkill was a mistake.

lol. i think it DOES matter if its unorthodox.

i can think of several radical ways to ensure a town victory without breaking the rules.

One idea i just came up with is this:
-------------------

Every INNOCENT player puts $100 in a pot.

At the end of the game, they get $100 back.

It is explained that if a member of the MAFIA puts $100 in the pot, they dont get it back, and their money is split among the innocents.

So its possible for the innocent people to get MORE than the $100 they put in. And there's absolutely no risk of them losing their money.

If anybody doesnt put money in the pot, then they are obviously mafia (who else wouldnt want a chance for free money?)

And it would cost members of the MAFIA $100 a piece to be in the "circle of trust".

Unorthodox? Yes. Convincing? Yes.

My point is that there are lots of ways to "convince" people of stuff. Some simply go against the spirit of the game.

The funny thing is this example is analogous to policy lynching but even Townies will argue that putting $100 in the pot is useless.

I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt. I mean not that fancy store bought dirt. That stuffs loaded with nutrients. I... I can't compete with that stuff.

GG. When I signed up for this game, I had plenty of time, but then the game took a while to start (I'd figured I'd die super fast) and then I was at Dreamhack, and busy and stuff. It kinda helped, since I could lurk hardcore, and because town veterans were busy sucking, (Can't figure out which vet was the mafia mvp, but seeing as how they all tunneled on each other, maybe it was a group effort? I'm tempted to say Ace though, because he swept in, got just about everything wrong, and then got himself modkilled, which screwed up town so badly) but I do regret not being able to play this all the time. Next mafia game I sign up for will be on a longer break.

It was fun everyone! Shoutout to WBG, for being convinced by me that I wasn't mafia, but I think you would've figured it out quite shortly. I thought you played a poor game at first, but got much better as time went on. I wasn't happy with leaving you alive last night.

Oh it's over. Half of the mafias we killed were killed by me, you're welcome :p

On a more serious note because a couple of people asked this ingame and I did not want to claim:
Why did I not shoot scummier target like ciry or kenpachi? Well I did not know how many vigs we got left, so I thought if there's more vigs in this game they probably want to shoot ciry or kenpachi as well, so I went for someone else I thought is pretty much 100% mafia as well.
