I thought the bolding of the text is suspicious, so I did some googling of "black black black." http://www.blackblackandblack.com/Are they basing the game on this site? Just a small glimpse of the site. Practice Areas - Overview At the law offices of Black, Black, and Black, our lawyers our extensively trained and focused on four practices areas of law including personal injury, criminal, family, and medical malpractice. Medical malpractice seemed to be the theme of this game. Any opinion?
Bolding of the words seems like it's too obvious, but that's just my opinion. (Since you asked.)

The clues must be something in those italic sentences... hmm.

Woo, it does seem to be in theme with the scientists and stuff.

The italic sentances are the lyrics to a song by Spoon. Presumably, it's just text discribing the music that's playing in the background.

I assume black refers to the fact that their alignment is not revealed in this game. Normally, a scum would bleed red and a town would bleed green.

Yes, the italics are from a Spoon song called "Written in Reverse"
+ Show Spoiler +Written In Reverse lyrics I'm writing this to you in reverse Someone better call a hearse I can see it all from here From just a few glimpses Now that lightbulb's gone off And it's pulling my wince And now the lightbulb's gone off I've seen it in your eyes I've seen you blankly stare And I wanna show you how I love you But there's nothing there
I'm not standin' here! Oh I'm not standin' here! And I'm writing in reverse I know it could be worse I'm not standing here, I'm not standing here (I'm not standing here, I'm not standing here) (and I'm writing in reverse, I know it could be worse) And I hear that famous song And I hear that can't be wrong
No nothin' was planned You just can't help yourself Some people are so easily shuffled and dealt If there's only one of us you truly felt We're gettin' you raw And it feels real good Although only briefly Like high school poppers would Will you lose a bit of yourself? Will you lose a bit of yourself?
I'm not standin' here! Oh I'm not standin' here! And I'm writing in reverse I know it could be worse I hear that famous song And I hear that can't be wrong
All I know, is all I know, Yes, all I know, is all I know Is all I know...
I'm writing this to you in reverse Someone better call a hearse (woo!) I can see it all from here From just a few glimpses Now that lightbulb's gone off And it's pulling my wince And now the lightbulb's gone off I've seen it in your eyes And there's nothing there There's nothing there I wanna show you how I love you I can see you blankly stare

aha! The song title is Written in Reverse which suggests that something of use in the post may be in fact written backwards, (just throwing that out there)

Aren't the clues supposed to be in some way related to individual profiles?

You say that there are clues in the day post, but it does not point to any current mafia, so what does it point to then?
Alright, it's time to get some activity going in here. What do you guys think about lynching inactives in the first day?
Although, there is only a slim chance of us catching mafia, it would encourage people to post more and the more that mafia post, the greater the chance that they will slip up.

For example, who is ???

Lynching inactives is a tactic to start a discussion. I don't think that we will need to do this, because we will have clues to look at, and a mayor to elect. That should be starter enough to get the information we need to lynch scum.

I want to encourage activity and make sure that no one lurks in this game.

In addition to just practice, the clues will give you a good idea of the way they work in this game -- the sort of things you should look for in profiles and general difficulty / obviousness.
