On a serious note though, unless anyone else thinks the veteran leniency idea is good I will drop it. I am fine with punishments, I just wanted to see if that idea was shared by any of the other players. On a semi related topic. We should make a mafia general discussion thread.

I'm always open to suggestions. Blanket statements like this aren't going to lead to the changes you want to see without more input. If you want to talk more about RoL's proposed system for example, we can certainly do that. This is an administrative message board, designed to keep track of players who broke rules and/or were inactive. Hosts and others express opinions and Qatol tries to make sense of the "consensus" opinion. Do not expect supreme-court style "laws", hosts always have the last word (ex: Ace banned BM from his games long before he was officially banned in this thread, Caller doesn't even follow the list, etc.). Flexibility and simplicity are important. This is pretty much how I feel. I do my best to stick with the host's wishes while also making sure nobody goes too overboard (using consensus opinions). Remember that I can't actually make anyone do anything. The only reason the system works right now is because most of the hosts buy into what we're trying to accomplish. As a result, everything has to be simple enough and transparent enough that the system is respected/followed. And of course the system has to be simple enough that I can actually manage it (remember that nothing on here is automated). He supported BM during his comeback recently, but he was the first to ban BM originally. The fact that I am on my name on this list really annoys the hell out of me and I want it GONE GONE GONE BABY. So according to the rules, it seems I have to "sit out" a game and despite my sudden desire of wanting to play this upcoming new game since I cannot wait months, 2 weeks, years, or however long a mafia game last nowadays since QuickStriker today is not QuickStriker tomorrow meaning life changes all the time. So basically in that one long run on sentence, I would LIKE to play this current game so I am CONTESTING this rule since I was out for past 8 games and about a year. So I'm saying if I have to sit out this new game, FINE, so be it but I'm doing it so I can get my name off the list then, not to consider playing future mafia games. But if I can get it removed now so I can play the mafia game, I will play the current mafia game. That is all. Thank you very much and have a nice day! ^_^ Considering my history with QuickStriker, I think it is only fair to let Incognito handle this one.

QuickStriker - Since he hasn't played a game for 8 months, its unfair to come in and have to sit out a game, since he hasn't played a game for a while. Qatol et al. - People who don't play often shouldn't be exempt from the rules. The reason why there is a sit out rule is that it is a punishment for being modkilled. Thus, if QuickStriker is allowed to play after being gone for 8 months, then he isn't being punished because he hasn't even wanted to play a game since then. Thoughts?

These rules are here to stop inactivity and to an extent they work. I think QS should sit out his ban, like every other TL Mafia player would have to. I dont see why disappearing for 8 months is worth any kind of exemption. A punishment isn't much of a punishment if it dosn't actually affect you. If we unban him because he was gone for a while then all we are encouraging is people leaving in the middle of games and coming back 4 months later and expecting to be unbanned because they were gone for a while.

Qatol is right in the sense that it really isn't a punishment if it can be paid off due to simple inactivity. I mean I wish I had the foresight to PM Qatol before I went on hiatus but really it isn't fair for me to just walk back in a few months later and ask for a game and a freebie. So we have two different points of view: QuickStriker - Since he hasn't played a game for 8 months, its unfair to come in and have to sit out a game, since he hasn't played a game for a while. Qatol et al. - People who don't play often shouldn't be exempt from the rules. The reason why there is a sit out rule is that it is a punishment for being modkilled. You can argue all you want how it isn't fair since you didn't play in such and such a time and blah blah, but you've been gone for 5 months. The ban list has been around for over a year. Basing your argument on "well I didn't know" or the like isn't reasonable as you have played on and off again almost since the beginning. Factor in your terrible attitude by trying to make yourself the victim here instead of the guilty party like you is just making sure the verdict will be serve your ban. Take your ban or go away, the attitude you have displayed here already you has gotten you in trouble on other sections of the forum, its not ok to bring here.
