like, remove the mikeymoo quote and say "smurfing is illegal unless cleared by the host before the joining the game". + Show Spoiler + On January 24 2013 04:13 Dandel Ion wrote: Particularily Baleful Unicorn. lol

honestly who hasn't been banned from tl jesus.. anyway sorry I will take the 3 game ban I was acting like an ass there I apologize. I do not see anything morally wrong with smurfing in a newbie game. Everyone has different values. Please don't perma ban me but if you do I will be back in disguise what else can I say? I love tlmafia too much to let an ip ban stop me.

That may be the case, but in this country/site, what you do is considered wrong, and is indeed explicitly in the rules. If you want to play here, you play by the rules set down by the forum and the hosts. It's VERY simple indeed.

I'd love to see all the other reasons kush got banned since he claims to have "been banned from TL many times"

I can make out that both players smurfed in a newbie game without telling the host about it, but I'm wondering why thrawn is requesting a permanent ban for threesr and a three game for kush? What's the difference in their situations? Also, does this warrant a permanent ban, or just a longer term temp ban? Isn't this sort of situation why we experimented with time based bans? Did that stop? I'm wondering, because I'm not sure if this is the first time that this situation has come up since we introduced Newbie games. To my knowledge, it is, correct me if I'm wrong. So, before this point, have newbie game hosts been smurf checking their games? Or have no hosts actually been doing that, and we don't know if this is the first time people have smurfed or just the first time they've been caught? If that's the case, why isn't it standard procedure for all newbie games to be screened, if the potential of smurfs in the game is enough to warrant discussion of life-time bans? If I'm wrong, and this has happened before, what's the precedent for how it was handled?

Which is prolly the reason. Smurfs have happened before in newbie games (XXIX was the latest iirc), but that was a guy that was already permabanned in the first place, so eh. I don't think IP checks are ('were', now) very widely used in newbies.

If I'm wrong, and this has happened before, what's the precedent for how it was handled? 1.) It hasn't happened before (at least not with these specifics [XXIX was a PBU who had never played mafia before, not a smurf of a mafia player]) 2.) I usually do screen newbies for smurfs, but sometimes games slip through the cracks. It's as much my fault as the hosts for not ensuring i checked, but its a side issue, I'll be more on top of it in the future. Still it doesn't excuse the behavior. 3.) This is a violation of the newbie game rules, and a violation of the rules in the OP of that game, not only is it a willful disobedience of the rules set down by a host, but it violates the intent of a newbie game, which is to give newbies a fair environment in which to learn. The reason why its more serious for threesr is because he is currently banned for inactivity on top of everything else (so also smurfing to avoid the banlist). The biggest issue with kush isn't just that he smurfed, its that he refuses to acknowledge that what he did is wrong, and says he's going to do it again.

s Sorry to the host thrawn for my deceit and to the newbs whose game I tainted with my nonnewbness and subsequent modkill. I won't smurf into newbs ever again (even if I get permabanned I will go straight into normal games with my smurf I promise). Sorry for the attitude earlier sometimes I get like that I don't know why.

I really wish that you had just accepted your punishment, (which was quite lenient) Apologized and reformed. But if you are stating you are going to smurf again to avoid the ban. That shows you have zero remorse for your actions and that is quite rightly going to piss people off.

I was just saying if I'm PERMA banned I will prob smurf again out of necessity just because i love tlmafia and can't leave it. Your actions in games suggest otherwise. You don't love the spirit of the game. You don't abide by the rules, as laid down by the hosts. You don't play for mutual fun, only your own. Just like a host is strongly discouraged from making a setup that includes zero scum and all town. Same sort of spirit of fair play.
