7% of Brits are from private schools from what I recall not 1/3rd

I meant 1/3rd of the Olympians went to private schools, unless you are saying only 7% were private schooled which is definitely wrong since that's probably about the amount nationally that go to private schools!

Oh I was saying of the population, makes sense that 1/3rd of our olympians are privately educated, olympics is kind of a posh thing anyway. Plus half of the sports aren't even introduced to state schools.

Looking at your medal count, a lot of GB's medals come from posh sports like rowing, cycling, equestrian and the like. That fits the profile of the people who dominate those types of sports in the US, too.

Yep this is what kinda makes the GB medal tally in the olympics a bit less inspiring. Although we have had some boxing and athletics medals and a few others here and there (triathlon) which are pretty cool. So many however are linked to privileged backgrounds and money and having more technology than the entirety of Africa put together.

It's not like Germany is completely landlocked, just as close as it gets for Western Europe. =P

Unfitting? Germans are guests at almost all beaches in the world ^_^
Take a look around, beach volleyball fields popping up everywhere! My favourite sport in summer.

Reckermann/Brink are deserving it, too :D
Their play is so intelligent and they work together so well, it's unbelievable.

Both teams in the finals, men and women.

Should be at least 1 gold.

It seems that there are, generally speaking, two UK camps: one that maintains that team GB is all-inclusive, and one that maintains that scottish/welsh/etc shouldn't be considered part of Great Britain. As someone who is not from the UK I find the latter significantly more interesting keke

Yea I feel like I'm kind of surprised by it in a way but at the same time not really. Do the people from Spain differentiate between Catalonian winners and Spain winners for instance or is it just the British who do this?

Yeah but Spain don't enter the World Cup as Catalans and Madrid.
We're separate nations for a lot of Sports and this is adds to the rivalry among other cultural differences.

I dont know about cycling but the others are "posh sports". Although Rugby, Cricket, Golf, the other popular sports in the UK beside Football (although the mens tournament is a joke) arent in the Olympics

Rugby and Golf are going to be in the 2016 olympics.

Lol, apparently there was a pretty damned good reason for that. His leg broke half way through the run.
