I was hoping Bindra would defend his gold in shooting, but he didnt even qualify.

the Romanian guy was really good, waited for people to finish shooting, and then pow! sniped them. so much of tension while watching this sport, imagine actually shooting o.o

Our guy had a really good final, but he blew the ranking round a bit by starting with 3 9's in his first 5 shots. He had one of the highest scores in the finals, and even shot a 10.9. We were 0.3 behind on bronze, but his last shot was <10 sadly.

Also really tense fight between the Italian and the Romanian guy.

Shooting is a terrible TV sport. Should be replaced with something where you actually see something happening.

The problem is the line has to be drawn somewhere. It's supposed to be an international competition. We can't have the marathon event with 30 guys from Kenya or whatever, lol. I understand a line has to be drawn, but man does this line in particular suck. She is already there, and she proved she is capable of taking on these other girls(she was just world champion....), she was well ahead of other girls in the 24 spots, she just lost to a teammate last second. She did make mistakes on floor, and she was third best of her country today, but man it sucks she doesn't have a shot at that all around gold that these girls all strive after

Honestly just make it so that all team members can participate next time,drawing lines after they have already made it to the olympics is silly, make the teams draw the lines at home(or better yet let all the girls on the teams try for all around with no country restrictions), if you can send 2 for all around, send 2 for all around, but decide that at home and not heartbreak on television like that. If a country has 3 capable of making the podium and they are already there so be it.

1 Each for Judo sounds silly, most sports allow more than one other than teams*basketball and soccer come to mind), seems like a strange rule.

The Womans skeet competition was a blowout, 99/100, the lady who won said she shoots 1000 rounds a day in practice, that's an insane amount of dedication. 75 rounds was a lot for me and my papaw lol.

thats the thing though, technically she didnt make it to the olympics, she was 3rd for 2 places in the qualifiers.
its confusing though because the qualifiers are held during the oplympics.

I'm pretty sure being on the olympic team and going and missing in preliminaries still makes you a part of the olympics so not sure what your saying, she just isn't in the gold metal contention for the all around gold, cause she got third on the u.s. side.

The countries hold the qualifiers to decide who goes, this is the real deal.

For a different perspective, some sports dont have preliminaries and eliminations rounds, it's just 1 shot and done, like the marathon, do you consider those that finish out of top 20 in marathon as not making it to the olympics?

no, in this case you are wrong. The gymnastic QUALIFIERS are what you watched, these are not preruns or whatever, they are the qualifiers other sports had months ago/had by giving time limits.
I know its confusing, but this is just how it is.

I feel exactly the same. Why are there even 4 disciplines of sync. diving though? It seems excessive and I haven't heard about any people liking it above regular diving...

It does a bit but they are doing some amazing dives.
