I don't see the complaint... the set up is fine. You say they lost a viewer, Riot will be getting tens of thousands more.

Ill take a 2 week ban bet with anyone who thinks gambit will take even a single game off of najin sword black. People who think they have a chance needs to learn. They've been watching every game with their own entire practice team with them.

also c9 2-0 finatic ezpz

Would be nice but probably won't happen.

Also next year will have another team from korea or china like how the gpl got a spot from tpa winning.

GPL didn't get a spot from TPA winning, they got a bye in all-stars for it.

TW+SEA got the exact same number of spots they did last year.

I don't think you or Riot respect the Chinese viewership enough.

iG not coming to Worlds honestly probably lost more viewers than having Vulcun there gained. Especially since iG has enough visibility to have foreign fans whereas who the fuck outside of NA actually gives a shit about Vulcun?

Obviously this means that you need a format where the seeded teams actually get to play games before the bracket stage.

People were already raising this issue after all-stars, Riot just decided to plug their ears and not do anything about it.

Ah okay, then sure. I was rather trying to think of a possible solution while keeping the format the same.

seeded teams play Bo1s against each other for rank

top seeded team chooses opponent that comes from group stage and lower ranked teams follow up with their choice

4th ranked seeded team chooses their location first in bracket then highest rank team chooses bracket followed up by 2nd ranked then 3rd ranked

If Gambit wins this though then Vulcun being here was good for them since they gave them a gift so large only winning worlds would restore world balance.

I'll take that bet, Gambit to win at least one game.

Sword could 2-0 Gambit, but I think Gambit will put up a fight. Not sure if you're underrating Gambit or overrating Sword.

Summary of what Alex said in an interview with Gamespot (before the quarter final draw was made):

-They've scrimmed against all of the seeded teams except Najin.
-He didn't want to draw Najin because there's so little information about them available.
-He didn't want to draw Royal because he thinks their mid-laner is godlike.
-Diamond wanted to avoid C9 because he thinks they're really strong.
-Gama didn't seem very strong.
-Both Gambit and Fnatic have been beating OMG in scrims but scrim results don't mean much.

damn just watched LD vs OMG; nice picks from omg.

Did I see that wrong or is Aatrox the only champion that can spawn 2 champions with yorick ult except for yorick himself? I think Yorick ult triggered when Bloodwell was activated and then Gogoing revived, as well.

I may be in minority here, but I think Riot's way of doing things is the right way. Putting more emphasis on NA and EU is the way to go in promoting esports. Making LoL "region locked" breeds local talent. I am sorry, but I don't want korean domination in LoL like it it right now in SC2. LCS Europe is actually LCS Europe, unlike WCS Europe which is "mostly europeans, but with a korean winning". And WCS NA ..... well..... that is a joke.

For esports to grow, there must be a balance between best players in the world and local heroes. SC2 has become about best players (koreans) going all over the world and winning everything, and LoL is more about local personalities and region lock. The only bad thing is that with LCS there is no room for international tournies.

I think if during the year there are more international tournaments (2-4 per year), but the LCS keeps the actual region lock, then I think LoL will achieve that perfect balance.

Derrrrp. The region-locking isn't even 1/4 of it. You don't seem to get that at all when it comes to the format outside of region locking.

Well I care for Vulcun for example. I think A LOT of people watch na and eu lcs and care for their respective teams. Also its wrong to just count the viewer numbers equal. I bet some cricket match in india gets way more viewers than CL final in football, yet the latter is were more money etc is involved. I think sponsors and riot care more about western viewers tbh.

well the bye in allstars garunteed them to get one of the four semi seeds, so really they did.
