Haha yeah, I feel like this is what some people wish for. Unfortunately for them, there's so much room for the good teams and players to consistently seperate themselves, as we can see.

I mean one of them will, and we got some of that in groups, in the mean time we get the LoL Ryder cup in the semis, pretty sure any NA fan is ok with c9 representing us, and I think EU is good with Fnatic, just read any NA lcs weekly LR, any EU lcs weekly LR, this match is perfect for the fans

To people who are predicting a stomp from either C9 or Fnatic, consider one thing: the vast majority of TLers expected both SKT and Ozone to 8-0 their groups, and for Koreans to completely crush the World Championships.
That said, I don't think it's really easy to predict who will win. Fnatic has been on fire since regional qualifiers but C9 has been on fire since summer split started.
I also don't think that the winner of this series determines which region is better. TPA won Season 2 World Championships but even at that time I would not have considered SEA to be the best region in the world.

The interesting thing in this tournament is how well Westen teams do vs Eastern.

Bullshit and it's nice to see people are still using a > b > c to back up their claims lol and now we're going to fall back on the fact the teams who won got byes. Cool beans. As much as I would have loved to see more C9 games and a better format overall. That didn't happen, so let's stop talking in hypotheticals.

It never would have in the first place. One series where you have two really good series is really going to settle that score. *cough*
In any case, it should be entertaining and I'm hoping it goes the distance (too bad it isn't a best of five).

IMHO you don't even need to argue about which region is the strongest overall, because Korea seems pretty much like the only candidate with their depth of good teams. More interesting is which region will field the single best team in the world, which is pretty much the one and only goal of Worlds, with the format they're running.

if we could see EU vs. NA elsewhere sure, but with the way LOL is now structured to have very little international competition, I think this match is something a LOT of people want to see, and the winner will earn the right to face the Chinese teams, so there is that.

Here's the thing about Vulcan. They have a great pool of champs and that's why teams find them compelling to play against. Vulcan's positional play is extremely poor and too aggressive, which makes them throwazons. With a few tweaks Vulcan would be pretty darn good team.
Also a team is only as good as their weakest player. Name one player on the C9 roster who you find weak atm and I'll give you my rebuttal. The truth is C9's line-up is very consistent and they have just as much depth as Fnatic. I'd be very surprised if it didn't go three games.

c9's great strength is in their team coordination and overall "know wtf they are doing" factor. other NA teams have mostly ban/pick strategy and laning matchup strategy, but when it gets to the midgame transitions, they just go wtih improvisation and feeling. this will lead to throws

They wont be too stupid to put Hai in a lane against Peke, but it's still true that Hai is C9s biggest liability. And he won't get Zed.

I don't think anyone on C9 is a great player besides Meteos. No one else on that team stands out as "great" and at the same time none of them stand out as "bad."

i like the time for Fnatic vs C9: 9 PM tomorrow! the rest times are fcking bad but the one im hyped for is perfect time for europeans! too bad its bo3 but well, lets have some fun!

Out of the 3 EU teams in groups, 2./3 sucked major balls (Gambit only got in because of Ozone's collapse). Fnatic was stomping a bunch of teams either choking, throwing, or under performing so this confidence in them and the dismissal of C9 entirely just shows who the real delusional fan boys are.

That's the whole point. Floating under the radar isn't necessarily a bad thing in this case. I'm used to people calling out guys like Sneaky for his utility ADC role but the reality is he hits a lot of those skill shots. For the guy above, if I had to choose between Hai and Peke to be my mid? Yeah, I'd go with Peke as well. Good thing C9 has Meteos who is great at controlling the game flow so when Peke starts winning the lane phase I'm pretty sure Meteos is going to try and get in his face.

Its good to have 2 EU teams again in the half finals. Fnatic will outplay c9 so hard and Gambit is gonna roll over NJS.
It's a good day to be a European.
|
I don't see where all this hype for finatic is coming from. They really didn't look to be that impressive in group stages.
And gambit was stright terrible I don't know what game you were watching against ozone but neither of them should be in round of 8.

Yeah but I think Fnatic has more than just Peke. I think their bottom lane has been performing stellar relative to how I thought they were going to perform. This patch doesn't favor utility ADCs like Ashe as much as they do favor the likes of Ezreal or Corki, and I think there's a mismatch between Soaz and Balls. I just don't think Balls is as good as people say he is outside of his Rumble...but that's Rumble.

There's no announcement for the next round of games yet, so I looked on lol.gamepedia. Are the C9 vs Fnatic and NJBS vs Gambit games today?
