Its also completely possible we will see the winner of OMG/Royal easily make it all the way to the finals, while the other side of the bracket is Sword vs SKT1 in the semis after easily beating their opponents. which makes only 1 good relevant. match at each stage, which is REALLY disappointing.

Tbh the draws worked out really well in terms of maximum possible story lines. Rematch between omg vs royal. Did omg throw last time? Or royal actually better than omg? Eu vs na, top of both teams duking it out. No more pussyfooting around with this eu vs na hypetrain. How good is gama bears? Are they going to be the cute iconic darkhorse? Or skt going to romp them in 20 minutes?

If one region is good enough to dominate, then THE WHOLE POINT OF THE TOURNAMENT IS FOR US TO FIND THAT OUT! EDIT: If you want to do that at Worlds fine. But then don't squelch international competition for the other 11 months of the year. Ha, riot building a competitive tournament? Is that a joke? You should realize by now that having no booths + bo3 quarters shows how much they care about competition over other things. Also really arbitrary regionional qualifier format.

I wouldn't care if Riot tried so hard to prevent one region from dominating if there were other events at which strong teams could show their skill on the international stage. Yeah unfortunately if Worlds ended up being a sham Due to a single region being strongest, then Riots bread and butter events would be less watched. People would just watch the third party events with (maybe) C9 + (maybe)Fnatic + Korea and china. Seems like they are making missteps at every turn as a company running leagues, and hopefully they learn from them, but they might not see them as missteps, which is what i fear. Korea vs Korea China vs China Eu vs Eu and NA vs Sea. 3 epic struggles to prove they are the best of their country, and two underdog regions trying to prove themselves to the world. ect. Its not difficult to create hype out of anything that happens in a tournament, Tournaments themselves are Hype.

The point of a world championship in anything is to have different regions competing against each other to determine a winner. Note how I did not say "to show the most skill" or "to be composed of the 12-16 best teams in the world".

Imo royal vs omg is solid storyline, it sucks they didn't meet up in finals to build up more hype, but considering how mysterious royal's strength are, it would be conceivable that this storyline never makes it out of quarterfinals if omg wasn't matched with royal.

Even if Worlds had complete competitive integrity, I'd still be pissed about having no other international competition. Season 2 was way more entertaining for me due to all the LAN diversity.

bears vs t1 will be another faker worship session. gambit vs sword is okay, but we haven't seen sword in quite a long long time, so they'll be 'random korean team' status.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as the best team from each reason is represented, that's good enough. Skt is there, c9 is there, omg is there, fnatic is there. Taiwan sorta got screwed tho. Supposedly tps is better than gama bears :/ On September 22 2013 17:19 TheYango wrote: It's a shame, the production on Worlds is actually a thousand times better than last year, but Riot had to find some other way to kill my enjoyment. That's the thing, having East vs. West matchups actually creates more hype than having inter-Asia matches for both the Western and Eastern audiences.
