Vulcan did a really bad job at losing if that was their goal.

I didn't know about the Azure Cats/Relegation seeding thing though. That doesn't change my opinion over what transpired, but it does sound silly that the #1 seed is in line to face a better team.

The format for the up/down is a 12 team tournament where the top 4 seeds get a first round bye. AC is the 9th seed and is expected to lose in the first round by the seeding. If they had placed third at the ranked 5's tournament they would be facing a team considered tougher by the seeding in the first round. The seeds are based on the expectation that the best two non-LCS teams to qualify for the tournament did so at the earliest opportunity(MLG), the next 2 at the next opportunity(IPL), and last four at the last opportunity(Ranked 5's). Noting that their 2nd round opponent is tougher than if they had placed lower is the equivalent of a 9 seed at the NCAA men's basketball tournament complaining that they'll face a 1 in the 2nd round instead of a 3 if they had been given an 11.

Jijis arguement really doesn't make much sense. Sure, they're getting a non-7/8 LCS team after qualifying as #1 ranked team, but that's because Riot weighs the IPL/MLG-run qualifiers higher than the ladder qualifier (and rightfully so, imo). They get the weakest team out of the tournament qualifier, and then get an LCS playoff dropout - where's the problem? Riot already rated tournament qualifiers over ladder qualifiers for the S3 qualification tournament, and no one complained back then.

And the Vulcun/Curse issue is what usually happens if you don't have simultaneous games for the last round - teams play for postition, just because they can. There's really no reason at all to punish them for it - next time, run two games at a time, if possible... (and I'm not even sure about the validity of the arguement. Why would Vulcun want dig over CLG? They're 2-2 against both teams)

CLG just bitter. They counter logic for a reason.

I really think they should caution CLG/Azure (Kelby and Jiji, respectively) for spewing such stuff. It's really unsportsmanlike to go and accuse their competitors of colluding just so their team has a worse chance at qualifying.

On a brighter note, can anyone recommend any games after the first two of yesterday's? Funny enough, the votes recommend all of them, which I can't quite believe, considering how the voting in here usually turns out...

The MRN games today were really good.

A lot of the games were recommended because they were upsets. I think the middle four games were all decently good. Last two games were sort of meh but that might just be because they didn't have anything on the line so they lacked intensity.

Okay, thanks, guess I'll have a lot of games to watch then, before LCS EU kicks in.

Edit: Just finished watching (bits) of the US matches. Kinda wondering why the whole Crs thing blew up that much - CLG could have been blamed the exactly same fashion for losing against MRN and GGU. Made horrible decisions, threw games etc, and hoping for MRN to qualify/fixing GGU as their opponent would benefit them way more than Crs supposedly speculating on Vulcun giving CLG a harder time. The whole thing is ridiculous.

TBH, curse has practiced that comp in scrims before. Riot can't charge um for shit.

I've seen Saint jungle fizz in scrims. We known Jacky's KNOWN for his trist play. And we just saw SoAZ kick EG's ass with nunu top. Seen Elise support, and Ez before obviously. Just because there is motive like jiji says, doesn't mean they did it.

About the speculation or whatever, I just woke up and watched the matches and I definitely thought that both teams were trying to throw that last game. I didn't at any point feel like either team was serious. Especially Crs though, there were some extremely dubious plays that you would make in a solo queue with an "oh whatever" -attitude, not in a competitive game. Considering that Vulcun also swapped all of their roles, I cannot really help but think that indeed, both teams were trying to throw that.

If you watched the game with a critical eye, Vulcun actually played the game far more seriously. Apart from the roleswaps(Which are sort of understandable, Xmithie is kind of known for Xerath as is Mancloud for Draven and Udyr also is a good champion of Zuna's) they actually played it far more seriously. In many fights it seemed like Curse members were trying to intentionally die / lose the battles.

For availability purposes, lowest quality is always up first so it can get up faster.

The problem isn't with the teams.
The format is at fault if teams are playing games that don't matter.
Large scale pool play has to work hard to avoid this.
Hopefully Riot learns better methods of keeping things competitive rather than comical.

I'd suggest keeping the results secret at the play site, but most of the players would probably die if cut off from twitter.
The plural of anecdote is not data.

Tbh, the whole time I was watching Curse/Vulcun, I was thinking that something may come out of it since it's barely a step above ARAMing. I didn't think anything should have happened to Curse/Dig for the ARAM and I don't think anything should happen here either.

lol just watched dig vs tsm, I joked a few times last season about reginald's tf but that was hilarious, like it's sooooo^3 bad. Random Platinum players, play a better tf.
