If Kiev is any indication, Dar1en and Alex Ich are solid solo laners (who can carry late game) and M5's team fighting is nothing to scoff at.

At any point of IEM Season 6 Championship, if you think of an interesting byline, please drop a sentence in the Pro Scene thread. At the end of the month, I'll catalogue the results of Hannover but also any interesting facts or events that happen over the course of the tournament. Thanks. Neo, 06.03.2012

Do you guys think M5's overplayed their counterjungling strat and that other teams can outplay them in other areas now? If Kiev is any indication, Dar1en and Alex Ich are solid solo laners (who can carry late game) and M5's team fighting is nothing to scoff at. While I think that M5 got EXTREMELY lucky in Kiev by just being the only other decent team there apart from TSM, combined with the fact TSM is litterally the WORST top tier team at dealing with counterjungling, I still think they have the ability to get through. But realistically no one (other than TSM) is going to let M5 do crazy counterjungling simply because that strat really just isnt that good if you know how to punish the enemy team for doing it. Sypher impressed me in the Kings of Euro tourney, and Curse is, well, Curse. I guess I overlooked Ehome, but, eh, if the rumors about China being obsessed with Ez, then Cait, are true its just an indication that the Chinese server is about 6 months behind the EU and NA ones.

I like the format since it means there's actually an incentive to come in first in the group. Getting a bye is a much bigger deal than the more typical tournament where first in the group stage only gives better seeding in the elimination bracket.

This is probably the scarier group. aAa is very likely to make it out as they're coming in with a lot of momentum. If CLG and Dignitas play the solid game and don't choke though, I can see them taking games off aAa however. CLG.NA also has CLG.EU around for scrims, theorycraft and inside info so they should have an edge. Fnatic has been on semi-hiatus with several members on holiday but somehow they magic up wins at LANs. Millenium/Alternative, while good probably can't compare to an on-the-ball CLG/Digi. But they'll still likely put up a good fight. Group B: Team SoloMid, Curse, M5 This group is a bit weird. At first I thought Group A was the Group of Death, but now that I think about it, Group B actually has more teams with comparable skill levels so the competition here is probably more fierce. Instinct says that TSM and M5 should be the favourites. But they're also two teams that sometimes choke, keel over and just die. TSM top lane has always been a problem, and Chaox can no longer just crush bot lane and carry. M5 should also be very impressive, but they also seemed to choke in the IPL Qualifiers. Ping issues aside, some of their decision making was very questionable, such as blowing all their ults when a single Irelia tried to stop them Baron-ing and then having nothing left when they knew the rest of Mono was rushing there. But who knows. Curse I think is a bit of a hidden underdog. They're not the best, but sometimes they have flashes of brilliance. Their poor performance at IEM shouldn't really count since they didn't have their full line up. With Nyjacky back in and the full roster, I think they have potential. Nyjacky has often impressed me, especially his pre-buff Veigar play. E.Home PDD is insisting on playing with a broken wrist. I think we can guess how this is going to turn out. Sypher is good, but I just get the feeling that Curse should be able to nudge them out. But Skyart makes big plays sometimes. Again, close call, but I think Nyjacky has more influence as mid lane.

I thought that SCII has always had more people turning out for events and LoL just had the sheer stream numbers, but I guess that's changed. I suppose it could be that previously LoL had just never been given the chance that SCII had. Anyhow, makes no difference to me :p

I think it's the same for League as well. Just sift and find who you think is entertaining and interesting. For me, I think the Riot/ESL casters are all pretty decent. If you want someone who's slightly more knowledgeable at the game, take a look at Phreak, as he's probably the best player out of all of them. But in terms of sidechat and entertainment, look elsewhere. Personally, I think they're all good in their own respect.

There aren't any casters on the level of tastosis/Apollo/Day9/etc. Primarily because the scene is really young and there aren't any (retired) pro's who are casting. The closest would be Jatt, former Dignitas member, but we haven't seen him in the scene in a while.

Though the mods usually do a good job of dealing with it. If I were to guess at who goes through in groups I'd have to agree with everyone else. CLG, Dig, aAa in A and TSM, M5 in B. The only spot I'm not so sure about is the third team from group B. Its probably Curse but I could see any of the other 3 surprising people.
