If I could give all the lol casters 1 advice then it would be: Don't feel pressured to be analytical. pls... 1. move the camera well 2. set your roles in your duo (it gets chaotic at times) 3. point out scene/team/player related stuff 4. point out basic stuff 5. only get analytical if you have time and full knowledge about something. I'd rather have a cast filled with basic info (about players, teams, common picks etc) than doubtfull analysis.

The casters in sc/sc2 are professionals who had a whole bunch of practice until now. LoL has his own observer difficulties because there are 10 players constantly doing stuff. i mean at least catch the fights when a jungler comes in and ganks. If i can see the fight on the minimap when the camera is in a random place, they should probably have caught it. its another thing to say they should have caught a death that happened in the course of something that looks like normal lane harass (happens bot sometimes but thats abit more forgivable)

There's a VERY HIGH likelihood that he rarely or never plays LoL and then tries to cast on it with absolutely no understanding of the current meta or players. That's the thing though, you don't need a ton of knowledge to be able to cast the games. Just enough to be able to explain what's going on, and be able to follow the action (of course, some knowledge of the players is good for filling down-time, which is why Zenon is a great caster, IMO). The real explaining should be left to the commentator. The thing that makes commentary work in other venues is how those 2 roles are distinguished. You've got a caster, who only needs superficial understanding of the game to be able to give the play-by-play of what's happening, and concentrate on following the action and making it exciting for the audience (both by conveying the tension/emotion in fights, and in filling down-time). Then you've got the commentator, who gives the in-depth analysis of what's going on. Commentary goes the smoothest with duos that are in-tune with these roles (e.g. Tastosis). With Riot's commentary, you don't have that. Either you've got 2 casters that unfortunately don't have the depth of analysis necessary (sorry Zenon--you and Joe are great casters, but there really needs to be a commentator), or in the case where Phreak is involved, he tries too hard to both cast and commentate at the same time and ends up sucking at both. In a nutshell, my advice would be--the caster shouldn't try so hard to commentate, and the commentator shouldn't try so hard on the casting. Define their roles, and get people to stick to them.

rivington/phreak/zenon (pick one) + chaox/elementz/saintvicious (pick one) honestly, of the first three, i think rivington is the best play-by-play caster, his casting voice is impeccable, his jokes aren't as contrived as phreak's or zenon's (lol), and he's good at working off of his other caster to avoid awkward moments. zenon and esp colbycheeze all sometimes seem out of it after their cocaster finishes a portion of commentary; they'll be slow to react or not react at all. as for the players, saintvicious is my favorite streamer so i'm biased, and usually when saint and chaox disagree on stream about builds, saint seems to be right more often (chaox has some funky-ass builds for non-ads, whereas saint seems to have a good grasp on what's effective). elementz was super solid at guangzhou so i'd take him anyday as well.

Also, he never gets to manage obs controls and is usually pointing out to Zenon or Phreak when they're missing something which makes me think that he's secretly a map awareness Einstein.

Phreak and his buddy said so much stupid things about the game, had annoying fanboyism reactions and weren't looking at the camera at all (TreeEskimo was better at this)... What? You basically just described Zenon's casting. I agree, however I'd also add hotshot to the players who could assist in casting, when he actually sits down and casts a tournament on his stream it's amazing, he is really professional gives great analysis and gets all the details. Also I'd probably replace zenon with Joe Miller

If you're talking about casting in pairs, you rarely run across a more successful combo than Zenon+Joe in LoL.
