I know there's already a thread on Soraka, but this one isn't about her support role - it's about everything else. Though it is a bit on the troll side, I made a new account for Soraka and I ONLY play Soraka on that account - I lock it in every game and just call some random lane that I feel like playing.
Though Soraka is a bit of a weaker champion right now, I feel that we should all put our efforts into doing what we can to make her stronger - and then possibly Riot might buff her so she's not ONLY a support. Playing Soraka is sooooo much fun and I wish she could be more than just a support.
Right now my Soraka only account is like level 7 so no runes/masteries yet, but I assure you they are coming!
So here's an example of a Jungle Soraka build that I've been running on my main account -
Standard Jungle Masteries - My friend did them so I forgot
My budget runes since I'm poor [AD quints, AD reds, MR blues and Armor yellows]
Go machete -> Spirit stone -> Tear -> Spirit of the Spectral Wraith -> CDR boots [Magic Pen boots preferred but CDR is good stat] -> Archangel's Staff -> Void Staff
Or Raba.
Rylai's I find is a really good item on Soraka. For team fights I typically wait for the engage and then I 9/10 times have to actually Flash into the fight to get close enough, and if you build really tanky, you're not being focused, but your Q [and maybe abyssal scepter, great item] lower the MR sooooooooooo much on the other team that you and your AP mid can just dominate. Plus the Q damage stacks up really fast with good CDR and AP. Silence does wonders.
I play Soraka more in the top lane - I've tried her AP and AD, but I find myself losing because I'm not quite sure what to build against certain champs, whether or not to stack dorans, whether I should prioritize armor/mr vs health/mana, etc, etc
Any help?
Like in the fights I'll always lose by a hair just because I couldn't dish out just a little more damage or something like that

thats a lot of farm for a jungling soraka with no gank potential

A pretty weird Soraka build too, the standard build on hyperfarmed soraka is tanky so that you can keep applying your Q debuff to maximum amount of people, your AP ratios aren't very glorious at all.

Q ratio is actually pretty solid considering its aoe and has a base cd of 2.5 seconds.

How do you handle top/mid lane as solo Soraka? If they all-in at level 2, I find it hard to imagine surviving most burst combos with just level 1 W and E. Even if they just shove the lane, it seems like last-hitting under tower would be very difficult until you have enough levels in Q and AP.

she has no gank potential at all For jungle and if you player her mid or top vs anyone with a gap closer or stun good night not to mention she is ganked fairly easy because she is slow and no built in escape. I had someone go top soraka vs me playing singed I killed her at lvl 2 with a gank even though she started with a ward and lvl 6 and lvl 7 and that's as someone who needs to farm in the range of her q

When I play Soraka mid, I usually go rylais/abyssal mixed with CDR tankiness - spirit visage, locket are common choices. The idea is to basically be able to stand in the middle of everyone, give 0 fucks and spam q while disrupting enemy focus/damage with your other abilities.
Jungle Soraka can probably clear jungle (though Q's mana cost is brutal to spam without blue), but she provides no map presence for your team. Basically the only situation she is okay is baiting the other team to heavily overcommit to a gank and then troll them under your tower.

I've lost to jungle soraka played by a platinum player, his ganks were actually pretty terror. He just rushed Spirit of the Spectral Wraith and mobos then ran into lanes silencing people into starcall spam. Ranged application of red buff with banana is surprisingly hard to escape from and he got kills at early levels by people underestimating how much armor w gives. She can straight up duel adcs with w/red/starcall/silence before they have items and they had a Thresh who kept pulling her into lane for the gank.
Anyway, I wouldn't call it amazing but it's definitely doable. Good luck!

I had a lot of fun trolling platinium with my red elixir start, arpen reds/ad quint runes support soraka build. Soraka has decent (not insane) base auto attack damage, and the reason it works is because the burst heal from red elixer, w, and heal summoner is incredible for hilarious bait potential. Get hooked by blitz into win engagement???
I have no doubt that it would be similarly bait-worthy mid or top lane. the bonus is that soraka does have 550 range (same as kennen, but you don't have kennen's disengage), which gives you a better harass option than q or e. You can just do a kennen style build of ad into ap (or tank?)
EDIT: addtionally, you can exert a lot of lane help with driveby heal/mana restores as jungle soraka. It's not a gank, but don't pretend it doesn't help a ton for a struggling lane to not lose.
