[TLCH] Mission 6: Amon's Reach

Plexa Aotearoa39261 Posts November 10 2015 09:55 GMT #1 Please use this thread to discuss the fourth level of the LotV campaign, "Amon's Reach". This is the first Shakuras mission. Clearly mark spoilers using the spoiler tag. Plot events that occurred in the prologue or Missions 1-3 do not need to be spoilered. Please spoiler plot events from Missions 4-5 and 8 which can be played before this mission. Feel free to use this thread to ask any simple questions you might have about the mission, or for tips/help/advice on completing the mission.

moofang 508 Posts November 12 2015 05:41 GMT #6 Found this one pretty tough on brutal without having played korhal (dose damn ultras). In the end I think you really needed to snipe detectors and then get the heck out of there and let dts do the rest. I tried to fight man-to-man with zealots and stalkers the first few times and it was really tough, whereas dts become ridiculously cost effective once you really start sniping detectors because the detectors don't respawn, and I finished with a lot of army to spare.

[UoN]Sentinel United States11320 Posts November 27 2015 05:36 GMT #8 Had some trouble until I found this thread. Still fun, but easy once you know what to do. Make an attack group with DT's (all excess gas goes here) and defense group with Zealots (remaining minerals go here, I used dark zealots). Use the lance version of the Spear's attack to snipe overseers (2 shots cause of healing) or crawlers (3 shots, same reason). Hold position DT's where no detection, otherwise move them up to the appropriate launch bay or thrasher and go to town. Only time I needed a couple stalkers is when 3-4 mutas attacked my base.

Send 1 to each objective, while using Solar Lance to snipe the Spore in the lower right one, and the 2 Overseers in the rightmost one. Basically, I just copied this strat: Amon's Reach in 2 minutes.

BurningRanger Germany303 Posts November 27 2015 09:49 GMT #10 Here's how I did the mission: LotV Campaign Mission 6: Amon's Reach (Shakuras) - Brutal I ran around with DTs right from the start, killing stuff whereever I could, while building up the base and getting even more DTs. I used the warpin of Pylons with units to have some defense at the base and the Orbital Strike to kill Overseers. Most Sporecrawlers can be sniped with the DTs before they root. You have to be quick thoough and split the DTs to attack all Spores at once.
