For TLD the wiki distinguishes between
Persistent area of effects, such as Crowstorm and Tormented Soil, hit with each application of damage.
Applied damage over time effects, like Fiddlesticks's Drain or Swain's Torment, only hit once.
That's a little bit of a wishy-washy distinction to me, but by way of analogy it seems like Garen E is more of a Crowstorm than a Drain. Whereas Brand passive and Teemo E won't proc TLD.

The targeted DoT's are a debuff on the afflicted character, where as ground based AoE's apply an instance of damage. Slight distinction, but an important one for calculating thunderlord's.

like you can get out of Garen spin or Morg pool, if you get auto'd by Teemo you are taking 3 instances of damage even if you flash instantly.
|
you can't get out of the garen spin its an infinite loop of memes + Show Spoiler +
seriously though you get silence and spinned on its an epicly hard combo to avoid
|
Technically it is possible hence the tld distinction

You're technically correct, the best kind of correct. Morg pool is legit escapable if you dont get binded though, but I guess thats rare too.

So mages are now officially better at taking objectives than adcs, I love this patch. Just saw an Annie solo kill baron and a couple of dragons in seconds... Has she always been able to do that? Tibbers looked like it hit for a billion damage on them with Rylai's and Liandries.

Did they change annie's voice?
If not I might have to go back to Annie...

i dont get why it took them half a year to nerf mr items which were overbuffed in preseason (it wasnt even secret every pro complained its too much mr), like lowering mr on sv,abyssal in normal patch cycle was too much instead we had to endure entire season of pathetic supportish mids and ad domination, just riot things ...

I haven't messed around with it but i am not sure the Viktor changes are necessarily a nerf.
Lets start with the biggest changes. The ultimate. OK this is probably a hard nerf. Less initial damage, and a lot less tick damage unless you can keep someone around for 2 seconds. Which is kind of hard. His ult was already hilariously massive if you could keep someone under it so i am not sure why making it even more hilariously massive when you do that is suppose to be good for him.
Deathray gets an overall damage increase if you hit both parts, while being easier to hit the first part, and harder to hit the second part. I think it will be easier to hit the second portion of the deathray than hit the 2 and 4 second ticks on the ultimate and being easier to hit the first part in general should be nice.
Then there is his Q. I think his Q gets a straight buff and i think that this changes how Viktor should/could generally be played. Prior to Viktor's rework a viable option was to max Q in lane and max E outside of lane. This let you use the shield to bully. Q looks to be back there, because the bonus auto damage now scales on Q levels you can max it first.
The shield is a lot weaker but the per-level bully power is a lot higher(rank 5 breakeven is 1375 mana) but the total shield potential lategame(especially in combination with something like Seraphs or RoA) seems pretty high. This could open Viktor up to Seraphs (and/or RoA) builds as a power build, which works well with basically every part

LOL I was like "500 hp and 70 mr.. even I think this is unfair" like you used to pay the same for SV and frozen heart except you got 20 more resists for FH and the AS slow vs 500 fucking hp (mana doesnt count for much) like fucking hell what were they thinking

Just checked, Teemo auto with E takes 3 autos to proc. The onhit/auto count as one instance. Same thing for kayle. The onhit is a passive on your autoattacks.
It's different from Lux where the damage from illumination is a debuff that proc's on autoattack.

Interesting - does Ardent Censer help? What about Sona Q? If Sona applied her Q + Ardent Censer to you, does every champ trigger TLD with a single auto?

Tibbers is appearently immortal vs them if you have max cdr and spam E. Did both with one mountain and infernal drake. No idea what dragons that Annie had.

yea I was not unsure this is how it works, I was mearly trying to illiustrate the reasoning behind the distinction of what "dots" proc tld and which don't. I guess I was hella unclear though because I fooled teut too

Problem is last time they redid AP items they were stupid strong and then, Riot being Riot, they decided to nerf NLR items and buff selfish MR items while nerfing the Aegis aura all at the same time.
