Maybe we can actually discuss the changes now :D
Assuming pbe holds steady, the itemisation changes are probably going to be the biggest changes in the long run.
I wonder how the math works out on tear vs an actual mana regen item, since it basically boosts your total mregen (including pots and all bonuses and stuff) by 15%, assuming you're never sitting on capped mana. That could potentially be some pretty sick scaling, especially once people get blue buffs and things.
Also has anyone had a chance to test out protobelt on pbe yet? I'm curious how clunky it feels.
I wonder if roa works with over time ablities (swain/nivia ult etc), some potentially amusing swain synergy there.

He can effectively convert damage taken to mana, and then mana to HP. He'll be incredibly strong while his ultimate is up and not enough damage is coming in.

The updates currently have Rod giving up to a 25hp restoration cap per spell cast. I don't think that's going to be drastically significant since it explicitly states spell casts and not on damage dealt. That said, it is an additional bit of sustain on an already sustain-heavy champ.
The mana regeneration from Rod should be big though, but the tradeoff is that you need to be taking damage. Should be a good synergistic item on Swain overall.

Guys, drop this discussion already, it already lasted for too long. Don't derail the thread anymore.
Thanks in advance.

how will singed poison interact with the new rod of agees will he be getting hp back for every tick or what?

I feel like roa is going to have some pretty silly edge cases if it applies to toggle-able spells

If not, then there shouldn't be any Rod healing interaction I believe.
I think I'll check that right now, actually (I don't actually play the champ, so I don't know off the top of my head)...
EDIT: yeah, Singed Q doesn't trigger on-cast at all.

The passive on PBE is phrased as
New UNIQUE Passive - Eternity: 15% of damage taken from champions is gained as Mana. Spending Mana restores 25% of the cost as Health, up to 25 per spell cast.
The "spending mana" part implies it would work, but then the per spell cast cap makes it odd.
If singes end up just spam toggling q to regen health, that would be amusing

are they going to buff ghost after they remove boot enchantments? distortion makes ghost worth picking without it its pretty crap ;/
|
People ran ghost before distortion came out too :p
Although it'll probably go back to only being useful on the few niche champions who need it (Olaf/singed etc) rather than flash/ghost being viable on midlaners.

back then 1 point wonder mastery existed which did the same what distortion does now (minus the cd part)

It used to/still does stack tear I thought, which made me think it might do something wacky with roa too Yeah, Singed Q works with stacking tear, as tear's passive doesn't have a spell cast limitation:
Live Version Unique – Mana Charge: Grants +4 mana (max +750 mana) for each spell cast and mana expenditure. (Occurs up to 2 times every 8 seconds). Gains +1 mana every 8 seconds.
PBE Version UNIQUE PASSIVE – Mana Charge: Grants 4 maximum Mana on spell cast or Mana expenditure (up to 2 times per 8 seconds).
Caps at +750 Mana. It works with both spell casts and any general mana expenditure, whereas Rod has the mana expenditure tied specifically to a "per spell cast" requirement.

Either Rod's healing will work with Q being always-on, or it won't interact at all. Based on how the passive is phrased (tying mana expenditure to "per spell cast"), I'm pretty sure Singed Q doesn't get any benefit but we'll have to see.
|
Was thinking more that the phrasing might imply that it would heal you with singed q, but then the healing would cap at 25 until you "retoggled" it.
That would be pretty stupid though

I dunno, it seems like a good way to stop abuse cases like that, Swain ult, and Anivia ult.

I don't really understand why Riot wants to give every item CDR. Like, everything's weaker, but it gives 10% CDR? I guess these items will be pretty strong on Kassadin.

I guess these items will be pretty strong on Kassadin. Probably because the way itemization is right now, you can either cap CDR, or get max damage, but not both. Given that dcap, zhonya's, void are 3 non-negotiable items for most AP's, and then you either start abyssal/roa/morello's, you have one item choice for either CDR or damage. I think this just leads towards build homogenization for a lot of mages, but some mages will become a lot stronger when they can maximize AP without worrying about trying to max CDR as well.

It just seems like there is a lot of 'oh this item is just a bit crap, what can we do to make it better? Oh just give it 10% CDR'.
Diana will also like the CDR on Zhonya's and Abyssal.

However, some people may consider this as a drawback, I don't know
