No, I'm fairly certain pretty much everyone would classify him as a scumbag. However, that scumbag does produce quality stuff in comparison to the rest of the scene. So say what you want to say about his personality, but his work is top-notch in the current state of eSPORTS.

Yup. As far as I can tell from how he's presented himself on the internet (which is to say, quite liberally), he's a jackass. He just happens to be the jackass that creates the only mainstream quality investigative journalism, something the shady, murky league community desperately needs.

Still, I have no doubt that other journalist could potentially take his place. Plus, the question really boils down to whether the quality and speed of his reporting is worth the amount of shit that RL brings to the subreddit. Given RL's behavior, it doesn't seem one can be separated from the other I personally think the answer is no, especially since the quality of esports reporting in general is increasing anyways. It's a question of balance. Ideally we'd like the best of everything, but when one facet outweighs the other by a large margin, something has to give. Basically I view it this way - if RL did what he did on TL, would he still be here? I'm pretty sure he'd be nuked multiple times already despite being such a great contributor. TL has the ability (and policy) to simply nuke people who are toxic so RL's vote brigading and social media presence probably won't do him much good here since our TL overlords will warn/ban people on the spot for being an asshole. r/lol presumably can't do the same thing. I suppose you can make the argument that r/lol should simply adopt a stricter policy on shitposts rather than banning RL's content outright. But given the amount of traffic and content r/lol generates, that's an unworkable policy. If the mods only scrutinize RL-related threads, they'll eat even more shit for inconsistent moderation.

His account would be, but I don't think there would be a restriction on other posters posting his content.

For example, his NDA piece was very clearly him trying to stir up a shitstorm where there wasn't one. He went nuts on (non-famous) people who tried to point that out. Plus, it's not just harsh words, RL has a history of getting his followers to also harass people and he's also doxxed several r/lol mods. Say what you want about needing thick skin on the internet, but imo if you dox people you 100% deserve any ban you get.

There was also another reddit post with compilations of his pre-account ban behavior, but I can't find it atm.

Besides, reddit does not need to state any reasons - they can ban kind of contents for any reason or no reasons whatsoever. If you watch RL's video, it seems that he had some discussions with reddit administrators. To me, that's an indication that the issue has escalated - presumably because the reddit mods feel threatened. Secondly, we see from the video that RL does have personal information on the mods, such as identifying a mod on linkdin.

I feel that if anyone posted videos of combat-ex back then the post would definitely get nuked. I frankly don't even remember anything about the drama regarding lastshadow.
