But because it's Faker and because Azubu sucks, it's apparently ok to stream someone's games without their permission.
What's probably going to end up happening is Riot will probably implement some kind of opt-out to hide your games from their API so now no one can spectate other people's games unless you're on their friend's list or the game is "featured" on the client front page. That SpectateFaker guy's an idiot who probably just ruined it for everyone.

fotm picks are sometimes are just too op to matter solo/team like when Yasuo was strong. But then you also have picks that people don't really know why the pros do it but they pick it anyway because it must be the best I actually think Janna picks in lower elo or by non-support mains are a really strong example of this although I suspect some will disagree.
tl;dr dominating your lane is a lot more important in solo than in pros, or Darius would be fotm imo
Janna used to be the SoloQ queen. Rek Sai, once she is toned down, will be kind of like (to me) old Shen (must pick/ban 45-45% soloQ winrate) plus Jungle Elise (basically the same). Its all these tools that are tailor made for an environment of constant ward/counterward/wardclearing and threatening neutral objectives. And the fact that she doesn't need blue to keep up clear speed helps.
Now, Rek Sai is still good in soloQ because her base values are still out of control, but I'm sure that will be gradually toned down (or crushed in fell swoop, Olaf style baby).
she's mid tier at best in the hands of someone who isn't a "janna player" in my opinion. when is used to? I don't follow winrates, when her passive was global? or when she wasn't popular so only Janna/support mains touched her?

would that have mattered in this specific instance? I don't think Faker really gives a shit and only "said he agrees" in this instance because he doesn't give a shit and his coach asked him to say that. His stream reeks of contractual obligation, I mean if he spoke english it might be as bad as when Kolento first signed with c9 and you could tell he loathed streaming.
Like Faker has streamed 7 times this month as of the 22nd, and he randomly chose the day that thread got posted to stream? seems unlikely to me, I think Riot is, for the better of their and their business partners business, protecting Azubu's investment as a show of good faith to future investors
Faker meanwhile is just doing what his coach told him to do, and has no personal interest whatsoever

Speaking of which, would anyone be interested in a MRiYE stream? The bronze 5 AD Katarina god? I'd tight with him and I could definitely start a stream up for him.
I just wanted to point to this because it came up on my FB feed and shows one reason why we might be seeing mobility creep. Because this guy either is massively overrating Brand in those situations or (IMO more likely) massively underrating Leblanc/Mobility in teamfights/objective control. Dodging skillshots and jumping walls is the epitome of the modern teamfight.

I played a lot of Brand last season, and he does have excellent team fighting abilities. His raw AoE damage output is right up there. However, this only happens realistically in perfect world scenario. The counter to this perfect world is mobility, which there is now scores of.
He has been left behind by mobility creep. His raw damage isn't enough (well it is for solo queue, but not for competitive). Riot definitely undersells mobility IMO.

I haven't played seriously in a long time but the biggest reason why I think immobile champions are no longer strong is because of Riot's balance philosophy. Riot hands out nerfs left and right but very very rarely buff champions in a meaningful way. Immobile champions like Udyr (Udyr's pretty fucking immobile nowadays imo), Brand, even Malzahar were kings back in their day, but were all nerfed pretty hard when they were strong. They are balanced for metas two or three years old and have never been touched again. I don't think it's a mobility problem; I think it's a straight up power level problem. We've seen powerful immobile champions be tier one picks not too long ago like Syndra. They disappear because they're nerfed and never touched again. I don't think it's a coincidence that weak, immobile champions are all old champions. Their kits aren't necessary outdated - the balance decisions behind them are.
On top of that, mobile champions, imo, can endure more nerfs than immobile ones because mobile champions' kits are a LOT more forgiving. If you fuck up your positioning on Ahri, it's ok. Blow your ult and you probably live; sure your team might have to give up an objective compare, but you probably won't straight up lose the game. When you're playing Malzahar and you fuck up your positioning, you die AND your team loses an objective AND your team might just straight up lose if it's late enough into the game.
Mobility creep is real, but so is the Riot nerfbat. They need to buff underplayed, "immobile" champions, not just constantly nerf shit.

I can see why Riot doesn't though (not saying I agree with Riot). They are probably afraid of them terrorising solo queue. Last time I check people like Brand and Malz perform very well in solo queue, and have above 50% win rates. People can't play around their immobility like they can in competitive. I'm a big believer in only balancing for the pro level, but I can see the reasoning.
But you're also 100% right about being nerfed in the past. For example, there is zero reason why Brand's E couldn't have it's range increased to old levels in today's age. That's a relic from a different time.
Specifically for Brand, IMO the best fix is to let Q do some kind of CC (lower duration stun, or like an 80% slow) if it hits on a target thats not burning.

All this Brand talk is getting me giddy.
I prefer the idea of increasing its range. I think it would be a perfect candidate for a range increase per level (like many Dota spells have), but I don't think Riot likes that sort of thing. This would allow it late game, when Brand's damage naturally falls off (his passive scales with the natural health increase of champs, but his ratios, outside of ablaze W, aren't stellar), to give him another role as a poker. Normally he is stuck on peel duty late, but giving Q extra range allows him to be a bit more multifaceted. It naturally fits with his passive and regular build path (Rylai's + Liandry's), and I believe it would be perfectly balanced/balanceable because A: it is easy to dodge and B: he burns a stun opportunity to use his Q to poke, rather than save it for a diver.
Also, aside from the E range nerf legacy, allowing his ult to bounce off him (Ryze E style) could be very interesting (or even too strong). Let Brand count as ablaze and a champion for the purposes of the bounces, and suddenly he has a lot more 1v1 potential.

honestly, the whole deal on Reddit just annoys the shit out of me. If instead of spectating Faker the guy was running a SpectateQTPie stream Reddit would be up in arms screaming for a lynching. The whole thing only gained so much traction because people (justifiably) hate Azubu. I think Tryndamere is partly to blame here for some really poor communication. Phrasing it as bullying Faker doesn't make sense at all, and it's likely why Reddit is so against him.
In reddit you can often be right, but if you phrase your self in the wrong way - esp when the current circlejerk is against you - the downvotes will go crazy.

Yeah, I don't know what Tryndamere was hoping to achieve. It looks like he got involved without consulting his team yet (Monday), so he came across raw and unfiltered (not in the expectedly good way).
Phrasing is so important when speaking to a crowd with a variety of perspectives.

If someone wrote a bot to auto spectate and stream some random low elo player's games every time he played whenever he played, Reddit white knights will be all up in arms about harassing and bullying said noob.
That SpectateFaker guy's an idiot who probably just ruined it for everyone.
would that have mattered in this specific instance? I don't think Faker really gives a shit and only "said he agrees" in this instance because he doesn't give a shit and his coach asked him to say that. His stream reeks of contractual obligation, I mean if he spoke english it might be as bad as when Kolento first signed with c9 and you could tell he loathed streaming.
Like Faker has streamed 7 times this month as of the 22nd, and he randomly chose the day that thread got posted to stream? seems unlikely to me, I think Riot is, for the better of their and their business partners business, protecting Azubu's investment as a show of good faith to future investors
Faker meanwhile is just doing what his coach told him to do, and has no personal interest whatsoever
idk that's my read on the situation

I find that highly unsurprising.
Oh i'm 90% sure that Faker hasn't said shit and probably doesn't give a crap about SpectateFaker stream. The issue would be the precedent this whole situation can set for future streamers. I think that's probably Riot's #1 or #2 concern based off Marc Merril's tweets.
Realistically, the big issue behind this as far as Faker and Azubu are concerned are the contractual and business aspects of this whole thing. Faker, as far as I can guess, probably signed a contract granting Azubu exclusive streaming rights. The SpectateFaker stream directly undercuts those rights and makes them much less valuable to Azubu. I can imagine Faker (or whoever represents his financial interests) would want to protect those rights since it's part of what makes him "valuable." Similarly, Azubu wants the value they were promised. Riot also probably has a stake from this perspective too since if streamers are worth more $$$ for sponsors, that indirectly grows the scene which is obviously good for Riot.
Faker probably said nothing, KeSPA on the other hand, very likely. The entire exclusive deal is with KeSPA + Show Spoiler +
The only reason Riot is getting involved is because 1. Azubu pays a good deal for rights and 2. to prevent Twitch monopoly so they don't get the upper-hand in the long-run of negotiations.
honestly, the whole deal on Reddit just annoys the shit out of me. If instead of spectating Faker the guy was running a SpectateQTPie stream Reddit would be up in arms screaming for a lynching. The whole thing only gained so much traction because people (justifiably) hate Azubu. But regardless of how shitty Azubu may be, there's still a legitimate argument being made for their general case that's more or less being completely ignored/disregarded by the Reddit hivemind.
No they wouldn't, because if viewers made the conscious decision that they would rather watch a stream with like no music, no commentary and no first person view of qtpie than to watch qtpie himself, they'd just be downright stupid although in the end its up to them. This has nothing to do with hating on Azubu. Its more like all the reasons being presented about e-stalking and privacy or whatever is completely hypocritical since Riot lets you spectate anyone in a game in challenger within their own client anyways. All the twitch channel is doing is making it more convenient because I'd rather have a stream on in an internet tab than to watch it through the spectator mode. Besides you can't be taking away business because I bet most viewers have no idea when Faker is streaming anyways and they'd probably just watch something else on twitch.
About the discussion on mobile vs immobile champions;
I think another part of it is Riot's stance on 'counterplay'. Much as I and I feel a lot of other people have come to dislike the word for how much it's thrown around, I do agree that the concept is good. A lof of particularly older champions also don't have a lot of it when they're actually doing what they do best. Much as I love Garen, I can see why it's frustrating to play against one when he's strong - You walk to somewhere where he can get to you and you get silenced for 2.5 seconds and you die. Same with Darius, Malzahar etc. A champion like Zed has counterplay, at least in the short term. Zed ults you, you can flash the shurikens etc. Where this whole thing breaks down is that as one of the immobile champions you often don't have the option to convert this 'counterplay' into an advantage for yourself, as Zed or Leblanc just makes a 180 and waits for cooldowns.
So short term vs long term counterplay? I'd argue that a champion like Rek'Sai is so strong because while there's short term counterplay there is no 'long-term' counterplay.
