Garena posted rules update regarding gay and transgendered women in regards to their female only tournament. The tournament should have an equal playing field and they feared that gay and transgendered woman may have an unfair advantage.

Putting all these points into consideration, we wish to experiment on the following changes to be implemented in this 2nd leg:
1) Each team will be allowed to have a maximum of one (1) Gay/Transgendered woman for the entirety of the tournament day. Therefore, teams cannot do the following: Team_A's first game will be 4 female members and 1 gay, then on Team_A's second game, they will have 4 female members and replace with another gay or transgender member.
2) Any team who has violated the above provision, regardless if intentional or otherwise, whether discovered during the day of the event or some time after, will have all their team members (the female members as well as the Lesbian, Gay, Transgendered women member) sanctioned with a 1-year ban on all Garena-organized events, including subsequent Iron Solari Tournament.

UPDATE:
After receiving a massive backlash from the community and talking to their partners Garena reversed the rules.
Our initial ruling on LGBT player restrictions within the Iron Solari League has created a lot of good discussion and debate over the past 24 hours. After discussing the ruling with our partners and re-examining our approach, we have decided to remove these restrictions completely. This means that any player who self-identifies as female will be allowed to participate. We sincerely apologize for any offense we caused to the LGBT and gaming communities.
Our original intent when we put together this tournament was to promote diversity in the competitive gaming community. Hence, we are grateful to our players who have consistently provided their feedback to help us learn and improve as we strive to develop an inclusive gaming environment for all. We’ll also be keeping our promise of having an open dialogue with all parties as we plan this and future events.
We hope you will tune in to support these awesome teams and players in this upcoming tournament.

Garena is literally the greatest game company ever, they are just amazing at everything they do nothing they've done across all games ever isn't hilarious. I love Garena, never die. No matter how bad my day gets I always remember that if Garena can continue to exist then the very universe itself has a sense of humor.

I'm curious how the Garena organization is set up - are all theGarena regions run separately, and coincidentally conflate to make similar kinds of baffling decisions, or is there a central Garena directive making these terrible choices?

Let me see if i get this rite, there is a female tournament and some homosexuals and transgender (i guess men or "former" men) wanna get in that tournament.
I got nothing versus their life choices, but if its a female tournament i don't think they should be elegible for it. Just leave the real women into that tournament.
If that is the case, if not, welp, gg wp.

So not only are Garena saying trans/lesbians aren't real women but they are also saying women are inherently weaker than men. Couldn't be that offensive if I tried.

a trans woman on HRT shouldn't have an advantage in mental sports over cis women, at least in theory.
imo the reason trans women have been more successful in esports is because they were raised as boys, and young boys play a lot more video games than young girls. but that's not a reason to ban anyone or limit # of players.
and the idea that lesbian women have an advantage over straight women is absurd, even physical sports don't assume that.

when has anyone ever had the idea that males were just naturally better at video games for some biological reason? Is that actually what they're trying to target here? Are they afraid a theoretical team with too many non-straight/trans members won't be marketable?
anyway this is tragically hilarous and I'm excited to hear the riot response on this situation. I'm predicting some form of hush-hush smackdown.

Ok, so gay just means gay females, right? Pretty stupid stuff.
Since this can has already been opened anyway: I don't really think that men have a competitive advantage per se, but I do think that guys are "by nature" more fascinated by sports and sports-like competition (I mean, evolution-wise it would make total sense to me) and with that you have a larger influx of talent overall. Gaming as a specific nieche probably amplifies this.

There's also massive social forces that have led to guys playing more sports, but the science is in on that one.
Obviously it's easy to test a physical advantage.
Just because there's one possible explanation and it's the most socially acceptable one doesn't mean it's the correct one. I'm not saying you're wrong but I'm saying until you can disprove or prove one way it's pointless to ignore it just because it's anti-feminist or something.
It could turn out that women are vastly better at RTS games or something but we don't have any means to test something like that currently
People aren't saying white guys are worse at games than asian guys either, but it doesn't mean it's not possible.
tl;dr neuroscience needs to get its shit together so we can gather useful conclusions
Obviously the garena guys think that either
A: males have some sort of advantage
B: gay people have some sort of advantage
C: they want to market females to a male dominated viewer enviornment
jurys out but seems like the business one seems more likely to me
then again C is only a factor if they are worried about A/B (i mean statisically they'd expect it to be mostly straight women) so either way you look at it garenas gonna get fucked PRwise
