In the context of the Garena ruling, you might as well claim they hate males as well, due to restrictions.

A society isn't inferior just because it doesn't have western values (yet) and there's a big difference between "I don't understand the backlash" and "no backlash whatsoever is warranted". This was obviously a well intentioned ruling to support the female scene, though it was poorly worded and executed (especially the part about 'gays'). We also have to understand the fact that they're what you call an "inferior society", just like you understand why your grandfather who fought in WW2 is racist towards Germans, even though you disagree with it and it isn't accepted by today's standards. Knowing and understanding why something happens is not the same as saying you should accept it happening.

Inferior societies and terrible decisions associated with them is exactly what backlash was made for

Especially when you take into account that in that region of the world the LGBT community is less accepted culturally in the first place. It's not right, but you can't expect them to skip a few steps of LGBT acceptance just because we as the western world already passed those steps.

they do host a tournament that doesn't have these restriction.
I don't know if you kept up with the times, but none of their tournaments have these restrictions.
