Day 390: One of my fellows finally found the light. im still seaching for the light though. I started to feel kinda hopeless because majority of my friends got their skins and making fun of me. Theyve all got quality skins and I dont even want to imagine what would happen if i get something like Badger Teemo. There's one important thing though: What if i dont get a mystery gift? Day 391: Still no skin. I dont even want to write anymore. They said they don't expect all the skins to be distributed till the 14th.

well the good news is I got Super galaxy Rumble, the bad news is my Rumble sucks a fat dick.

as an aside (first world problems inc) I hope that Riot eventually adds a "random" skin option I hate when I obsolete my old skins and really have no reason to choose them anymore.
I'm only really good with flex picks were I designate different skins to different roles (yes I actually do this)

The influx of new guides in strategy section makes me think, do we want it to make a rule that they have to post a link to their account so we can more easily dismiss the bullshit as completely unproven and untested?
|
I mean my guides probly would have been deleted because I'm a normal only scub and you yourself have complemented my guides in the past.
|
There were only two that came up? Just let them be, Scip.

to be fair to Scrip the Urgot guide is pretty bad, and that's coming from a man you know to have a 100% Urgot winrate.
ok the Annie guide is mostly bad too, at least he formatted better.
actually the Annie guide is really bad holy shit fuck the formatting, RoA+tear on a champion with a midgame power spike is just... and to justify lucidity boots based on tibbers cd?????? tibbers has like 2/3 uptime lategame, and comes up faster than flash w/o cdr. At least the half ass urgot guide doesn't tell you to build stupid stuff.

This will be something I propose to the rest of staff. There should obv be some level of merit when it comes to posting strategy.

Oh that one too.
I think guides should get a mods-approved tag, kind of like TSM's featured guides.

working on a "scip-approved" seal asap

Maybe we could do something similar to the sc2 forums: Give approved posters different coloured posts.

To be fair, it's better than building roa/iceborn on Annie top as it was happening week ago in every game i played with guys saying "PM me 3 weeks later when this build is going to be sick good"

anyway, if I approved your guides, it'd be because the content was good, not to suck your normal elo dick. Knowing you are a normal only player if the guide was good, I'd approve it regardless, but if it was shit I could just instantly dismiss it easily.

I think the writer of the guide should be able to demonstrate his experience with the said champion. I don't think his ranking actually matters as much (you can always learn from another player even if you are Challenger), but his # of games and win % within his own tier with the said champion is something which every reader should know about.
This is especially true with unconventional picks/lanes.
Also, like Scip said above, I am interested in good guides with well-reasoned details and arguments. Whether or not the writer is a Diamond+ player is not really that important.

My personal view is that once the discussion moves past the first 5-ish pages, nobody looks at the guide in the OP that seriously anymore anyway.
Practically speaking, it's probably best to just have a 1-thread-per-champ for the purposes of discussion, with an OP who's willing to go back and change the OP based on discussion. The writer doesn't have to necessarily be good, but they have to be willing to edit their OP extensively, and be willing to listen when someone who clearly knows better suggests change.
Guides each getting their own thread leads to a lot of subforum clutter, and TL's format isn't really built to handle a lot of shit guides and waiting for them all to drift off the front page because thread order isn't popularity-based.

I've never seen anyone who had both of those properties
