I know a lawyer whose firm works with Che Guevara's beneficiaries and they're tasked with sueing everyone they come across who uses his picture without having asked for permission (because despite appearing everywhere, it's not public domain or anything like that people may think). It's apparently both tedious and sometimes borderline grotesque as to where they dig up the uses.
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

So I decided to check out doyou TV out of curiosity, namei has 197,922 viewers on his stream wow no wonder I hear about these streamers making more than full time pros in China, for the sake of comparison the top hearthstone streamer (idk who he is but he's on iG) has 123,128, ZSMJ has 121,830 and YG's mid laner who is second on LoL has 27,081. I know it's a bit of a no shit given that it's China but still surprised me lol.

The accepted view is that Douyu numbers are heavily inflated (last number I remember is x4).

Huh didn't know that, how is it inflated?

Chinese routing and the way the site tracks things leads to a lot of inaccuracies in overall viewer-count and its obviously in the site's best interests to make the numbers seem bigger. Nobody knows for sure how inflated it is but things like basic experiments with a channel that starts with 0 viewers, streamers trying to get all their viewers to go a another channel, etc. and matching with previous numbers have given people some guesses.

Basically after some investigations netizens of a popular DotA forum basically agreed that the Douyu numbers for DotA streamers were about 3-4x inflated and that has become a generally accepted figure for the site.
When in doubt, just believe in yourself and press buttons

People are just mad that someone is making tons of money off of the easiest idea ever and that they didn't come up with it first.

Isn't that the whole accounting industry?

Kind of a sidenote, but accounting is actually pretty important and pretty tedious. Think of how big a business is, then think how you have to convert every goddamn asset or transaction done into some monetary value and make sure that is all matches up across a bajillion documents that are in not quite the same format. Not an accountant, but I've spent enough time digging through financials at my internship to know it kind of sucks (I mean, I just want an excel sheet with your info, stop sending me these goddamn PDF's that I have to manually convert).

If Faker knows the guy is streaming his games and doesn't care, who cares? It's the same thing as a guy who sells t-shirts or pictures of some famous celebrity to fans.

Haha I know my mom runs the accounting for dads business and I had to fill in for a few weeks. I was just making a joke. It's needed to make sure everything runs smoothly but at the end of the day you aren't actually producing any content. Much like how the streaming faker is needed for the world but isn't producing anything on it's own :D

Does anyone know if the playoffs is on Gnar patch?

You aren't producing content, but you are hired by a company to manage something. You are providing a service to do work for an entity by manipulating their stuff. This guy is taking something he doesn't own without consent and making money off it.

Just stopping in to say Zed has been my favorite champion for over a year, and I'm excited as anyone about this quality of life buff, but he really didn't need it in my opinion. Gnar seems fun to play but I can't see his seeing any competitive play whatsoever and honestly seems pretty lackluster of a champ to me.

Ok so with this Darius discussion, are you taking TP on him? Cause my problem is, ignite is so useful on him obv for snowballing in lane, but with seemingly everyone taking TP its tough for him to snowball because enemies either just recall and TP back to lane if they start to get low and run out of pots/flask charges, or they just TP back to lane after you kill them and they lose barely any gold or XP.

Personally, I like to take Ignite on Darius just because then at level 6 your ult + Ignite is doing ~530 TRUE DAMAGE which is quite a hefty amount. I think it's a matter of preference of whether or not you take ignite or teleport on him, but all I'm saying is that I like ignite on him.

I also run ghost on him so what do I know.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with restreaming Faker's games.

If it has to do with him making "easy money", from what I've seen, it seems like he puts a good amount of effort into the stream, he's not just afking. He interacts with chat, puts on replays so there's always content. He quit his job, readjusted his sleep schedule around Faker's playing time, and dedicates a significant amount of time to the stream to provide an apparently demanded service.

I think trying to get him shut down is just petty. If people disagree with what he's doing, then they won't watch his stream, and he'll have to quit the whole Faker spectating thing.

Well there's the question of how faker feels about having all his solo q games recorded and archived, with worlds just around the corner. Sure solo q is hardly secret, but not many koreans have easily browseable archives for anyone to go through. There's a difference between a team analysing some of your solo q games as a result of their coach specifically going out of his way to watch your games, and having all your games recorded for any random analyst to watch on demand. Besides, if faker wanted to stream he could, the fact that somewhere along the line he made a conscious decision not to should count for something.

Personally I don't feel that strongly about it either way, it'll sort itself out somehow, either by staying or going away, but there's more to it then him "stealing potential money" from faker.

Kespa players aren't allowed to stream. Supposedly it's in their contract.

Fuck, you're so right. I'll stream Kakao playing and singing. Million dollars in a year guarantee.

Yeah, the whole solo queue privacy thing is a bit of an issue, but that's on Faker, and I'm sure if he told the streamer to cease and desist, the guy would stop, or have his stream shut down.

As for Faker streaming his games, IIRC, he is not allowed to stream them due to some KESPA shenanigans.

Faker, seeing this, could also easily play on a smurf to make sure the guy can't track him, but that kinda sucks.
