Probably because they moved servers to Amsterdam (?) since then I have even much lower ping. I used to have ~65ms. This was before the move.

Well it depends where you live.I had 40 ping at most(when the servers were working) now I have 70/80.

Riot have backup servers in florida I think, that's where the tournament realm used to work and they also used them for the EU server and the Brasil one when needed. I don't know what they use it for now tho

Pretty sure Riot has a shitload of D1/challenger players.
Also it is very easy for them to ask a pro player of theit opinions.

is malphite good right now?first time i picked him since s3 just to counter jax and it was easiest lane of my life, i didnt even play well suicided once durin g dive still could bully him entire game, guess multiple nerfs to other toplaners made malphite good again similar how they did with talon

Maybe a handful, but not a "shitload." Phreak, Smash... Tryn, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. At their St. Louis office I know there was one diamond, but he was like low level diamond 5 (and he's no longer there). Anyone want to add to the list, feel free. I'd wager it's fewer than a dozen though, and certainly no more than two dozen. I mean, maybe they lock them in a dungeon for all I know, but based on what I know, it's not many.
Also, the average level of a Riot inhouse is pretty freaking bad. You'd be surprised.

When I spoke to a Rioter (sorry for forgetting his Nickname :-() during my visit of the european LCS studios in Cologne he told me that the average level of play was around silver with the average level varying between departments (Accounting being the lowest on average, who would have guessed ;-) ) which sounds about right considering that Riot's Lyte stated that even on the balancing & design teams people don't necessarily play in the upper leagues.
Riot's Fearless for example is not a high level player and he is a dev who worked as a designer on the Sona rework. Here is a statement by him: + Show Spoiler +One of the coolest things about Riot is how awesome our support structures are so that we don't have to be experts at everything. I'm not a high elo player, though not due to a lack of love for the game. It's mainly due to the fact that for the last ten years, I've been building games. Throughout the entire process of updating Sona, I relied on the feedback from multiple Challenger and diamond players that work at Riot, many of whom have played a very large number of Sona games and identify as former or current Sona mains. Never did I imagine that my experiences as a player would be enough for this work, nor even my experience as a designer. The reason I could have faith in the Sona work came down to the fact that Rioters don't get in the door without being pretty awesome at something, and are really good about sharing what they know to make other people around them more awesome. That doesn't mean we won't make mistakes, and it's entirely likely that Sona may still need some adjustments in the future. We don't have enough data to make that call yet, but I'll be very open when we do, and make sure you all know where we'll be going with her and why. I understand that the lack of communication at the end of the PBE time has really upset people, but at no time have I ever suggested that anyone should not question the choices we've made, or that anyone should just "trust me." I'm happy to explain every change we made on Sona, or at least point to where I've already done that. It pretty much confirms what Sufficiency expected so you are both correct.

I've busted out Malph in high plat and have had decent results with him. I'm far from a proficient Malph (less than 20-25 games played with him ever) but he's as good as ever if you don't feed.

Quiz: What is the only champion in the game with one-word abilities? (I'm pretty sure there's only one but maybe there's a second I missed.)

Riot should hire me as a consultant. I'm low diamond, which means I' sort of know how the game works but I troll around and goof off enough so I know how to have fun.
Also, Malphite got a huge mana buff on his W. Went from a whole bunch to like 30 at all levels.
