Did I ever claim 500 range is irrelevant?

I claim you cannot just lookat the range nerf without other aspects of his kit.

For example Gahlo does not even know what else about Lucian got changed.

Because for the most part, he's right. The only change to the passive was the "double tap rule"... It was his E that was changed.

Won't Lucian's early game be a lot worse now? His level 1 will have pretty much nothing changed (the base health might alleviate a bit of this) where people like Cait can just push him out of lane, and it doesn't seem like this changes until he can get to the midgame where the multiple dashes will be more useful.
What I feel like this really does to Lucian is pretty much lock in which support is going to be picked with him, because with his range change he'll probably need someone with a really strong lvl1-3 at least.

I think he will be a different sort of Vayne. Less damage but far more mobile.

And his early laning will be close to garbage.

Yes, his lane phase has been hit pretty hard. He can't trade well with people that outrange him without using his dash, from what I've seen. This leaves him in poor position to deal with poke, hooks, and ganks.

You do realise that Dark Binding's range is 1300, and actually one of the longest skillshots in the game (beaten by some Xerath stuff, Ziggs because fuck that guy, TF's "I don't want to play with you" wild cards, and a few others), right? It trades a high mana cost, long cooldown, recognisable wind-up animation and slow projectile speed for range, damage and cc duration.

Yea, I was just countering obstinance with ridiculous. Mostly because I think the riot defenders here are intentionally being ignorant for the sake of being hipster.

Also because I think they think it is hipster, when it is a pervasive tl mindset as I illustrated earlier.
