that is an extremely dangerous statement and i think its fundamentally wrong. most of the time this happens when someone is going against the mainstream. I know from experience that LoL and DotA discussions (in contrary to other games like starcraft) tend to base arguments on "everyone does it" and "pro's do it" a lot and I think prince doesn't buy into that and even if he's extremely stubborn, what makes his arguments kind of unique is not being wrong all the time but being anti-mainstream all the time (which can be right or wrong).

-garens pretty shitty early game ever since the E nerfs, you are a solid laner because of passive but you won't be able to deny anyone who wants to farm
-garens midgame is okay but its not really a curve ahead either because you can't do anything without running aat people anyway so you rely on teamfights
-garens lategame damage scales just fine because your R scales with missing HP and you always have enough burst to do about 2k damage to a squishy when your R is up
if you think he does no damage later on but does tons early you absolutely have not actually played him and are talking out of your ass.
he is quite tanky but not absurdly so since penetration mitigates the effect of his W and it's hard to use the active part too effectively. also randuins and warmogs nerfs and force of nature being removed took away his best items that could make him retardedly tanky so now you probably just want Sunfire/LW/Hexdrinker and then get giants/wardens and then warmogs or banshees
