Really dont think when you get a dorans blade or two its a huge deal, they still die really fast, while doing absolutely nothing if you get dove

Feels to me that CJ chose to bench Rapidstar but couldn't find a replacement. Was GBM/Maknoob a significant improvement over Rapidstar?

I think Maknoon and GBM were an improvement over Rapidstar, however both GBM and Maknoon have their own problems that are holding them back. GBM has like the worst champ pool ever, and maknoon seems to have performance issues, not really sure why. Probably the pressure on maknoon to perform 2 stronk.

According to Morello, it's only supposed to be a temporary measure until they figure out something more elegant. It was also only supposed to last the first 8 minutes of the game. However, I have my doubts.

All three were inadequate for Frost to compete at a top OGN level. However, you can't fault the CJ organization for fielding GBM/Maknoon even if they were at a similar level to Rapidstar, because they saw some sort of potential (please no CLG jokes, this isn't reddit) in those players that didn't come to fruition when it came to match time. I think it reflects better on an organization to bench an underperforming player, and try out new blood than to just assume that the player they have is the best they can get.

I have deleted 2 other responses to this post because I didn't think they encapsulated the history enough. Basically, CJ Frost has been a team that had been riding the line between Good and Elite for quite some time, and its obvious that the CJ Organization will settle for nothing less than that, and will look to be an elite team. This may or may not be a realistic thing given how hard it is to assemble an elite team, and how competitive OGN is. But consider Frost was 2nd in OGN Spring 2012, won OGN Summer 2012, took 2nd at S2 worlds (and that, was probably underperforming for them/TPA being the luckiest team ever), then sent Shy with Blaze to MLG where he became as close to a consensus #1 Toplaner as we have had in LOL since the days of HSGG. 2nd in IEM, 2nd in OGN winter. This is the team that CJ thought they were buying. Then they get 4th consecutively in OGN, during this time Woong, Rapidstar, and CT all underperform situationally. First they try to replace Woong with Hermes because Madlife, and they still do fine. Then they replace Hermes with Space, and do fine. But then somehow they miss out on worlds, and CT and Rapidstar and GBM all play terribly compared to what CJ wanted. Worst of all, its not like they are the SKTT1S babies, guys like Rapidstar and CT are established players, they aren't going to grow so if you aren't satisfied you have to move on. Same with Helios, I don't know why they tried that. CJ probably wants a high-potential team to go along with Blaze, who they view as their team with a chance to compete in Spring. You can agree or disagree with that, but I definitely agree that Frost is not a top 4 team right now and wouldn't be with any iteration of the current roster.
