Always Spectral Wraith, then Nashor's, then usually Lichbane and Rabadons. Boots I usually get Sorcs but I get them very late.

5% crit is legit. I've even seen Koreans run them. While Yasuo is strong and needs nerfs I don't believe he's as OP as people think. Riot should nerf his passive and remove some of the damage from early game E and he'd be fine.

The double crit probably wasnt even needed and the Passive can be toned down a little bit but the shield is what makes him viable in mid i feel.

Then again I think it's the most elegant way they've used yet. Free crit like Tryndamere is annoying to play against because you can get RNG'd out of lane easily and it's volatile, and free AD/AS steroid don't cut it, AD because it would need to be huge (or %-based like Yi, which isn't the most elegant way to go about it) since it's already the most readily available stat to buy and stack (making an absolute value worth less comparatively as the game progresses, again see Trynd and Fiora), and AS gets pretty gimped when you have to chase and move around.
Crit is available in a way that makes you want to buy several items, but usually melee champs can't afford it because they're too squishy. Boosting your crit% (while reducing your crit damage to balance it out) gives you the incentive to buy these items while letting you keep several slots for defensive itemisation.
The raw HP values on his shield and his W passive (moreso at release) were way more problematic I think, and then it's a numbers' thing.
You also have all his weird interaction with AS and CDR, especially on his Q, that makes him probably hard to understand (and itemise correctly, for example Zerks seemed pretty unintuitive to me at first) for beginners.

I think it was Darien who talked about him the best in regards to Yasuo's competitive viability. He essentially said that Yasuo was a risky pick because you have to pick champions that work well with his ult and the enemy has to pick champions whom he can counter with his W for him to be fully effective in competitive play.
Of course though, in solo queue, his kit allows him to have a strong early game and avoid ganks which means he can usually stay even or get ahead and once he has his core Shiv/IE he's a complete beast. Honestly Yasuo feels like the champion Fiora should've been. I just hope Riot doesn't go overboard on the Yasuo nerfs or he'll probably end up being even more niche than other "melee carries."

The enemy has an ADC. Therefor his W can be effective. You need someone to combo with him. Pick a Vi who is a normal pick anyway.

The shield needs to be toned down a bit, like it starts as a 60-70 damage shield at lvl1 then rockets to 690 at lvl18 like ??????????????????
