Speaking of which, is there a single black person in TL LoL? Other than Requizen, obviously.

Karma is Asian/subcontinent or maybe from the ex-USSR -stans

Malzahar is white in his splash but black in game. What's going on there? Obviously he is meant to be like arabian/middle eastern, but still odd.

NA was down tonight. Dunno if it still is.

Afaik the euw troubles seemed to stem from EU's internet infrastructure, not something really has control of. Or at least that's what was implied when Riot was talkinh about the new datacenters.

Edit.

Done laughing. Barring the fact that solo laners hit lvl 6 berore 7:15 (the usual time when your 2nd buff spawns) even if you take solo lane experience the only way you'll be able to keep up is if either laner dies to a dumb gank timing and gives up 2 full waves of experience.

Unless you're playing with solo laners who consistently missmanage wave and get killed at their own tower while you're near to get all the exp. You shouldn't be able to keep up.

to add on to this, the average lvl 6 jungler in NA LCS was 7:52. Meteos had an average of 7:25. So I don't know what tax heavy jungler friends wei is playing with, but I'd imagine most junglers are more than "30s to 1min" from hitting 6 compared to solo lanes. probably closer to hitting 6 with a duo lane.

Yes, not everyone is affected equally by the lag, although it is definitely not a bandwith problem on the end of those affected.
Basically, Riot's ISP didn't provide enough bandwith, which was affecting everyone, so Riot made plans with them to extend it, and it relieved a bit of the troubles (on top of miscellaneous code optimisations server-side).
Then, a bunch of people (not all, seemingly not the majority since Riot took several days of complaint before issuing other statements than "we're monitoring but see nothing abnormal so it mustn't be on our side", but nothing negligible either) had lags, freezes and disconnections that very obviously weren't on their end. After awhile (and asking people to run test tools and give the logs) Riot determined that some of their nodes weren't reached/used properly by some ISPs, leading to longer routes and thus slower traffic.
They made arrangement with their ISP and other authorities (can't remember which, MB mentioned after reading their statement that at this point Riot's degree of management over their bandwith and traffic is such that they aren't that far from being an ISP on that part) to alleviate these troubles and help direct traffic better. It suppressed the troubles for a week or two, but they slowly started creeping back in since then. I'm not talking about server-wide lag here, but the cases where people like me will randomly lag in some games when 7-8 of the other players won't be affected at all.

When the server is down the problem is not about EU's internet infrastructure. Also this argument has been pulled way too many times by Riot. Blizzard had the same number of players with wow +battle.net games and they never had "isp issues". There is no doubt that they have been managing all this very poorly, even the communication has been extremely lackluster. It's been month since europe should have received some kind of compensation just to please everybody. I'm quite sure I'm not the only one very disappointed in the quality of service they have been delivering those past 6 months.

EU is composed by different countries with different internet infraestructure so I will give to Riot some credit especially since LOL its a F2P game. But as you said, I havent had the same issues with blizzard or other MP games.
If we recieve a compensation (I doubt it) surelly will be a lame compensation, nothing like other regions.

EDIT: BTW when will Riot implement the lane selector? I have purchased Jinx and i haven´t had the chance to practice with her. Every pre-game is a fight for mid-adc-top lane , well at least I`m improving as a jungler.

It's been said numerous times that Riot's different teams for the different servers are more or less autonomous, especially when it comes to managing the community, and even more so regarding the Asian region ones.
Apart from the fact that Korean server services and uptime had been worse than EU and NA at the time (although I'm not sure if it really was worse than EU pre-split as they claim, and definitely not worse than EUW's current situation in terms of long-running troubles), the decision to grant the Silent Night Sona skin wasn't approved by some global Riot HQ or something (the NA teams didn't know the least about it until it was announced), it was an unilateral decision by the Korean Riot team which had the autonomy to do so.

As is, you've got to realise (and Riot tacitly admitted it in their response to the NA community outrage about the compensation) that it put Riot in an awkward situation; as in Riot's main HQ in NA was put in that situation by their Korean branch.
It set expectations for their bigger community, which they had to directly deal with, and in a way created a precedent that Riot wasn't comfortable acknowledging. They more or less failed at their communication, in the sense that they simply said "Well we're embarrassed about that, know that we didn't endorse it, but our Korean HQ has a lot of autonomy and they decided to do it on their own", which is another thing they could be called out on, but unless they straight-up lied then the community's reaction is really irking.

TL.DR: one of their divisions screwed up (by acting on their own with no regards for cultural or regional differences) and put the main one in an embarrassing situation. It was badly handled, but it was originally a fuck-up of lack of internal communication, not Riot playing favourites.*

* unless your'e assuming that Riot Korea knew about the previous compensation but ignored them and took it for granted that their player base deserved an otherwise unobtainable skin. Which would be possible, I dunno, the interview with Japanese pro players shows that they feel Riot should give them what they like regardless of their interest, existing policy and such, because "our culture does like that". Iirc Asian gamers in general are much more drawn to skins and the idea of getting incentives/collecting stuff that the occidental ones.

If all 3 exist, what's the problem?

Actually top lane diversity is the highest it's been in a long time right now shen and jax are still viable if you open 1v2, olaf is a winnable match up vs all of these and we still see Rumble picks on OGN. A lot of this is likely to change without champion balance changes when s4 changes hit so why even mess with it

If it isn't obvious to Riot that Riven and Renekton are bullshit, the odds of Shy getting a nerf is SLIM.

But seriously, without the QQ, some kits are stupid strong by nature. Riv and Renek are just strong by nature and hard to balance while Shy... well... it seems like Shy is meta dependent because this is the first we've seen from her in a while.

Her laning was buffed by the changes from her passive (+5 armour/MR from levels 1 to 5, instead of unlocking it at level 6) and her ult was buffed too, both to make it available faster and to make it last longer (how long does it usually take to refresh it? It looks like it's really fast, although I guess it's closer to a proper ult cooldown once you take the ult duration itself into account), so she's sturdier, hence stronger, in lane. Her E being AoE and pass-through + herself being tankier make her better at withstanding harass and farming in 1v2 situations.
And if people move away from assasins then to deal with strong carries you're left with AoE compositions aiming at killing the carries anyway, or strong bruisers to zone them (and Shyvana is Renekton-level of dealing damage just by standing near you, while being impossible to make not stand near you).

Also with splitpushing becoming a bit more common, or just flash-farming/pushing + mobility as a way to apply pressure cross-map then group up for objectives, Shyvana is a bit like Nidalee (slower, especially if there are walls, but her W+sunfire is more efficient at clearing than cougar form and her straight-up 1v1 "manfighting" is stronger too).

Actually Sunfire seems to make a resurgence recently, being bought much more often in order to push sidelanes more efficiently and have better damage early on rather than just because 1v2 have less farm and it's cheaper. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it's interesting to observe at least.

So many typos as Asmo quoted me. T.T I am shame. Work keyboard suck.

Yeah, the buffs obviously helped, but the split-pushing part is what I meant by meta-dependent. Far be it from me to question OGN picks/bans... I just haven't seen what others have yet I guess. #SilverLeague

my bad, original post was written like a terrible qq and had no substance under the whine, so i'll try to salvage it here

continued tongue in cheek (but still true) response is that there is no real problem but i've been saltier than the dead sea since ahri's destruction and i want to see every other champion nerfed

more seriously, i don't think shyvana and riven are problematic, and i agree that top lane diversity is in a pretty good place right now. however, i think part of that is due to instability from patches - namely the olaf buff and jax nerf starting a shuffle that i believe, absent other changes, will settle into something rather more stagnant in a few weeks - although only this is only from a sample of 6 games, ogn top lane is starting to look like the renekton/shyvana show.

i'm additionally hesitant to give any particular meta credit for rumble or shen, as their ults have made them niche if not primary picks for much of their existence. also relevant is that some of these champions (shen, jax, the occasional vlad) are aided in their viability by the option of 1v2 lanes, and it's an open question as to how season 4 changes (think top/bot brush asymmetry) will impact that strategy. should straight 1v1s become the norm in competitive play, renekton will absolutely need to be looked at, as his lane bully status makes him a gatekeeper to the pool of viable top laners (sort of like what elise/zac were during their dominant periods).

shyvana/riven were named as candidates for the typical nerf response to sudden fotm champions (riven's obviously been a staple of soloq top lane for a while, but mid riven is quite new) in contrast to renekton's extended period of untouched popularity. but again, this is mostly nitpicking, and the game is pretty much fine as is...until season 4 patch kicks in at which point who knows how things will turn out
