There are many that do.
Every AP mid can use both stats, same with a fair number of top laners.
Only like AD casters dont like it.

Riven just uses the ignite at lvl 1 to kill the opponent, worth it etc

Janna's winds help Anivia get more lift, allowing for additional soaring. Also Quinn might be a good addition because of bird synergy? I don't know maybe a high Elo player could weigh in on that. I think that using 5 bird champions will increase the win rate. Much to our dismay, I think there's only 3 bird champions? (Swain, ice bird, and Quinn) This means that what Riot needs to do is to port Phoenix from Dota and give Soraka a bird-skin. Udyr has phoenix stance and syngergizes well with Janna as she makes him fly faster.
some eu lp guys did the "Best birds" ranked 5's team ages ago. IIRC it was anivia swain janna shyvana and maokai (he was the tree the birds all lived in). I imagine you could also use pheonix stance only udyr or galio as well
you win the game then surrender and scour the entire low elo ranked 5's teams so all shall know.. and tremble.

Speaking of Nunu, if you see one, there's a solution : pick Nocturne.
Your Q allows you to run faster than him and your W counters his only offensive spell 1v1. He can't counter jungle you without risking his life, and even with a level disadvantage you'll win 1v1.

I also don't think I have optimal gank pathing. I know the standard route of going through enemy jungle, etc but that's it really. Lane ganks seem very 50/50 and mid seems nigh impossible half the time.

My main junglers are Eve and J4. I feel more confident with Eve but I have better results with J4 since I just feel his role suits more solo q jungler style for some reason. (Tanky intiator who can switch to dueling without issues).
lane works like this:
one side has more creeps = the lane will push for that side (how much depends on how laners play it though)
same amount of creeps but they are closer to one side = the side that it is close to will push in 2-3 waves (reinforcements arrive faster) IF neither champion pushes the lane
same amount of creeps in the middle of the lane = you don't know
If you fall behind, it's probably not due to not taxing enough, but not farming enough. I gave an advice on EU LP once, that if you want to get platinum, you just don't gank before lvl6, and that is especially true for Eve, whose ganks before 6 are really quite mediocre.
What I'd reccomend doing is just not ganking before 6 for a few games, just clearing golems-wraiths-wolves over and over, maybe holding a lane that dies or really going to help if someone gets dived and you are nearby by a chance. That is your baseline, how you play if no opportunities come up, and then you can try to look for opportunities. That is a lot harder to do, naturally.
Not much better than a fortune cookie answer, I know, but it's hard to just do a short guide on this :3

Borderline cases include Urgot and Blitzcrank.
