The fact that we're here discussing this means that the people we're talking about aren't really casual - I wouldn't consider people who make an effort to talk about the professional LoL scene here on TL to be "casuals" in the sense that people who only play the game and watch tournaments when it gets linked in-client are casuals.
You're speaking in absolutes. If you're on TL, you aren't a casual follower. I'm on TL right now, have been since 2007. I'm a casual follower of LoL. I don't even know that CJ Entus had a B team and I don't want to make an effort into finding out who they are.
r If you're here on TL, or even Reddit, and complaining about "faceless Koreans," that is 100% a case of the willful ignorance that Yango is talking about. You're already making an effort to follow the proscene, but you're arbitrarily limiting yourself from looking into the Asian scene until they show up at worlds and stomp white people.
There is an attitude at TL that I don't like, which is blaming the fans. Right now, you're blaming the fans like me for not putting more time or effort into doing research. Well I need to fill you in on something. Following Esports is not a job for me, nor is it homework. Its a form of entertainment. I don't want to or care to put extra effort into consuming the content. I don't want to stay up late at night to watch tournaments held hallway across the world, or pay whatever amount of money I need to pay in order to watch vods.

I don't know man but I'm really hoping for and cheering for fxo to somehow sneak into s3 on their first try. The na scene is really open especially after the top 3 or so and from what I've seen so far I don't think it would be that crazy to see them steal a few games off of teams and make it their breakout event.

I don't care if you don't want to make following ESPORTs a job, but don't cry about it when you're willfully -choosing- not to learn more. I'm not blaming you, but you need to not blame the teams for not spoon feeding you information about them, then turn around and talk about faceless Koreans when you've made zero effort.

lol u think i follow/like/support sc2
sc2 is less popular than lol cause it's a shit game, has absolutely nothign to do with the attitudes of a few hundred people on some random forum
your argument is also inane since sc2 teams/players have much closer relations to the foreign scene compared to league, both from international tournament attendance and koreans on foreign teams
league is much more insular from a korean (chinese) vs. na/eu perspective

No, I don't care if you support SC2, but that specific attitude is why SC2 fails to attract a many fans. I find that people heavily involved in SC2 are condescending towards fans, and that condescending attitude drives people away. I got into LoL because people I watched catered to fans and made the content easy to consume. It was an inviting atmosphere. Now look at the tone in which you responded to my post. Tell me that wasn't condescending.

I am not disagreeing with you, but ever since WC Toyz's stream consistently have 15k+ viewers. Being good at the game does bring you popularity no matter how much of a "robot" you are (which btw, he is not).

1. Toyz and Rapidstar, to be honest, don't care -that- much about NA/EU fans. they have thriving scenes back home that pay their living, the foreign fans are just a bonus. Also Toyz's stream numbers aren't exactly low, in fact I'm sure he's at the top of the charts in terms of consistent stream viewers (consistent five digits). Rapidstar might be a notch behind, but I might go as far to say that Toyz is more popular/well-known than Maknoon, despite not speaking any English on stream and not interacting with audience at all.
2. You're not growing interest out of thin air. You already watch tournaments/follow the competitive scene at least some what. Hell, you already know who these people are. It's not thin air. It's "I know there's Koreans but I don't want to learn about them and then I'm gonna complain" that's silly.
3. This "community" is also incredibly fickle (due in part to its large size). Maknoon may seem close and dear to our hearts right now, but a couple months later when it's not the same group of people who were around when Maknoon was interacting with people who are dominating the Reddit userbase or w\e, it's going to be "Maknoon-who?" all over again. It's not really worth it to kill yourself trying to establish an image with a foreign audience when your home audience is just fine.
I'm not saying that Asians should all hide in a cave until international tournaments come around, but I think it's incredibly egotistical of foreign fans to think that everything has to revolve around them, and that Asians have to cater to NA/EU people over their own audiences.

Only possible reason maknoon MIGHT be more popular is because he was high elo on NA server before he moved to KR server.

And you're free to do that. The reverse, though, also applies. It's a two-way street. And that attitude is why SC2 is less popular than LoL. lol u think i follow/like/support sc2 sc2 is less popular than lol cause it's a shit game, has absolutely nothign to do with the attitudes of a few hundred people on some random forum No, I don't care if you support SC2, but that specific attitude is why SC2 fails to attract a many fans.
Yes I agree SC2 people are evil, there is no disagreement here
