Slow growth is fine, just like what Brood War was. The model was great, people interested came and everyone had a great time. Well, no, but we have a constant stream of good discussion here. Sure, everyone once in a while it gets muddled up, but we moderate ourselves and each other quite well, if you ask me. Neo has to do very little.

I mean, I know this sounds like a circlejerk right now, but TL LoL is honestly less confrontational overall than the rest of TL's game subforums (especially since this is probably the only popular eSports one). How often do you see someone bitching about DotA2 or SC2's popularity? How many people were actually mad when DotA2 was supported over LoL? There was some initial anger, but, in the end, everyone got over it and congratulated the other side. That's not the same attitude that there is in other places.
And Roffles is right: it's because of the subforum's size. I'd also posit that it's because this subforum is so populated with the same name and interactions and relations that it requires a good understanding of what's going on to become a good poster. That time you take to become aware of the subforum's dynamic is what keeps new posters from being total assholes and spouting their mouths off immediately. If the subforum becomes massive all of a sudden, then the dynamic is gone and anyone can say anything and will.
How long did you take to stop being a lurker and start speaking? For me, it was a while. That time helped me to figure out what was appropriate here.

Nah, Many people wants the game that they play is the most skilled game ever. Thats why BW vs SC2, LOL vs DOTA 2 shits appears. What they didn't realize that these games all require a specific set of skills and are not easy when you actually getting to a certain level.

You have to realize that D-A at the time was quite literally the equivalent of TL for DotA (complete with well-known pros being regular posters, etc.), whereas the current PlayDotA forums can only be described as equivalent to B.Net GD. Not a change anyone would be happy with.

Yeah I would say 70-80% of the hate that dota people put onto lol is probably from the way that pendragon basically deleted a Teamliquid sized community forum and ended the goodbye letter with an ad for lol.
Most lol people don't have a reason to even know what dota is and I've talked to quite a few dota people who are really chill about it and appreciate what lol has done for esports (maybe a little snark about how lol is prepping the world for the dota 2 revolution).
