So unless I was massively seeing things yesterday, yesterday I learned that Tibbers's aura damages structures.

I was seeing purple numbers popping off a turret and it was just me and tibbers and some friendly minions.

Because I'm bored at work, I was reading through the jungle and item preview threads again. Came across this gem from Xyph that I overlooked earlier:

If you're a mana based tank, there's always the possibility of getting a Sheen and upgrading it to the Tank version of Sheen.

That item may indeed be crazy. My Skarner and Hec builds are already basically Sheen/TF + Tank, and now maybe they can skip out on the other parts if I need to be more tanky. Not that Zeal and Phage are bad on them, but depending on the stats on it, it may be a strong contender for pony to have when he just dives the entire enemy team. I can imagine Cho liking it as he's tied with Skarner for highest base AD, but his abilities don't really spam. Amumu maybe since Tantrum is on a tiny CD if you get hit and he'd like the mana.

Scientific studies show that people are good at predicting other people's actions but they're really bad when it comes to guessing the motivation behind those actions.

People tweet all the time. People tweet when their cat poops. Are they fishing for attention? Do they just want to connect with other cat people, an entirely reasonable thing? Is it just a reflex? Who the crap knows?

Twitter is inherently an attention whoring device unless you're only using it to relay info and news. Pretty much any time someone tweets about their personal life, it's because they want people to see it and react to it.

You could say very similar things about our conversation. Am I attention whoring right now because I want complete strangers to see and react to the things I'm writing? Am I motivated by believing I am in the right? Am I bored? No one's accusing Hot_Bid of narcissism but by your argument we should no matter how funny his follow-up comment was. Making jokes and being witty are, after all, good ways of getting attention.

It seems really logical that they'd make a lot of different Sheen upgrades at the same time they add technology to not have to state "Does not stack with Sheen, Lich Bane, Trinity Force, or Tank-Hand-Glow" on every single one of them.

my best guess is that the sheen upgrade is going to be really suboptimal because it will be tied to glacial shroud
so it's like do you want sheenshroud, or do you want the best mana tank item in the game, frozen heart? PICK ONE

They are adding named unique passives, so they can easily give the sheen unique passive a name and not have to worry about it.

Our conversation is indeed similar. Maybe I phrased it wrong though.

When you post something in a public venue like the internet, especially when you know many people will see it (say, if you have a large Twitter following or are posting on a popular internet forum), you want it to be seen. When this is done in a negative or mindless way (Look at me! I said stuff!), it's attention whoring. When it is done in a positive or constructive way (What I think about the current situation/topic is...), it's conversation or commentary. The difference is the type of image you give and the type of attention you're garnering.

Hot_Bid's remark was commentary on the situation, Anna's original tweet, whether she intentionally meant to do it or not, served no purpose but to focus attention on the LoL community and a shitty situation caused by one of the members. These are obviously different, but similar in the fact that they're meant to be seen my people and noted.

Why do you think Shroud? I think the "mana tank" came from the fact that Sheen gives mana, not that the other parts do. But if you're right, I can see your point.

We might as well not be anonymous, this forum (and anywhere else I use the name) is the largest number of people who know who I am. The Requizen name is more popular and "celebritized" than my real name ever will be, and if I ever do anything really fucking dumb that gains it notoriety (as you see with some usernames here and in places like Reddit), anonymity really isn't a thing anymore unless you create a new online persona.

Yeah you are one of the selected few who have a "virtual personality". But it's not the case for a lot of people, most of the people lurking in this forum in fact.

I really wouldn't count myself among the "TL personalities", other than the fact that I post more often than many people. I doubt I'd be the type to be remembered if I just stopped posting, to be honest. But it doesn't matter in the long run anyway, you could be a first time poster that says something so completely absurd/offensive/abrasive that the person with that username is completely scorned for the rest of their history.

You don't know that she was posting it for the purposes of attention whoring. Actions and their results =/= motivation. You can argue that she shouldn't have said anything, that it was the wrong thing to say. But you can't argue that in the moment of decision she selfishly wanted attention in a ME ME ME ME kind of way rather than thinking "ugh I had this embarassing experience and have to get this off my chest." Both are completely reasonable reactions to have even in the context of facebook or twitter but it's obvious that one motivation is better than the other even if the result is poor.

"Anonymity" doesn't really matter in this context either. When people create 50 accounts on a forum for the purposes of trolling they are drawing a lot of attention to themselves. Just because they have no reputation after each ban doesn't mean that they can't be motivated by feasting on the attention their posts draw. Similarly even if a newbie has no established personality here he could make posts motivated by attention seeking.

After all, no one really likes it when they say something they think is really cool/funny and there is zero response.

Also, this discussion has been going on for awhile, so in the interests of brevity I'll make this my last remark on the topic (though I will continue to read).

If we knew the real name and occpupation of everyone on TL we'd still all be anonymous as far as the ESPORTS industry is concerned. Remember when blizz tried to make everyone show their real name to stop trolling? lol
The only reason anna prosser isn't "anonymous" on the internet is because she's in the ESPORTS industry as is the LoL player meaning it's relevant for some reason.

You don't know that she was posting it for the purposes of attention whoring. Actions and their results =/= motivation. You can argue that she shouldn't have said anything, that it was the wrong thing to say. But you can't argue that in the moment of decision she selfishly wanted attention in a ME ME ME ME kind of way rather than thinking "ugh I had this embarassing experience and have to get this off my chest." There's still a huge difference. Anna Prosser is ex miss Oregon, her job in e-sport and her soon to be husband's job are both based on their appearance.
I get nothing aside from self satisfaction when I post in here and try to be "cool", so it doesn't necessarily direct all my actions (I'm also here to learn things, give my point of view, defend my ideas, have some fun, etc. things that you cannot reduce to "attention whoring") while those people "gain" things, even economically, when they take a stance or do something e-sport wise.

RealID was different though. You could bypass it by using a fake name or whatever, it's still anonymous. I could start another account and be someone really different, any person who is visible in the SC2 or LoL community can't, no matter how much Major tries.

my best guess is that the sheen upgrade is going to be really suboptimal because it will be tied to glacial shroud
so it's like do you want sheenshroud, or do you want the best mana tank item in the game, frozen heart? PICK ONE

Why do you think Shroud? I think the "mana tank" came from the fact that Sheen gives mana, not that the other parts do. But if you're right, I can see your point.

just don't really see what else it could build out of
it's safe to say it won't be an MR item (with the removal of FoN and them wanting to limit MR items), and sheen is already a pretty expensive mid-tier item. makes most sense for it to combine with another mid-tier item. like it wouldn't work with heart or GA or a high-tier item so it has to combine with either a basic item (sheen + cloth armor = irrelevant upgrade, sheen + chain vest = basically another mid-tier item?) or another mid-tier item (shroud, MAYBE aegis but aegis is already pretty complete, catalyst maybe, kindlegem is possible, warden's mail but that feels good into randuins)
