I remember he's had a track record of flamebaiting LoL players in both this subforum and in others.

Afternoon gents,
So I just spent a good 40 minutes reading the shitstorm of a thread in TL General about our fair game and needless to say, it's a train wreck. It's amazing how biased gamers can be, especially on a site like TeamLiquid.
I do request all our subforum regulars avoid replying to the thread if possible, a lot of it is just baseless flamebait. Moon and I will be working on an editorial this weekend (jokingly named "The Uglier Elephant in the Room" atm) to 1) debunk all the LoL myths that we can think of (e.g. LoL viewership counter) and 2) a subjective part to highlight the positives about our game ("we aren't saying LoL is the best, but there are things we're doing right. Other developers/games would benefit from our example")
Moderation in the TL General thread I can do. Terribad posters like red_b will be warned. I know he is deeply biased against LoL but that doesn't warrant a ban just quite yet.
Anything else, feel free to PM me.
Thick skins, guys. Thick skin...

The amount of bashing he has done in several posts in that topic should at least be a temp ban, I don't really follow why the banlings haven't taken heavier stance in that topic. See the odd warning there and some guy who just posted fffffffffuuuuuuuuuu got a temp ban :\
edit: ninjaneo post

Don't think I've ever seen a bunch of nerds so angry about a game becoming popular lol.

It's not a heavier stance I can take it. As a representative of the site, I can't appear biased for LoL just because I play the game. It's a matter of professionalism (on my end), even if other users are not.
But don't worry, I'll keep an eye on red_b.

I didn't mean like that Neo, but I don't think anyone disagrees the topic is a major clusterfuck of bile. Posts that just 100% bash (regardless what game they bash) would imo deserve a ban. I'm reading LoL reddit at the same time and people are more manner posting in Snoopeh apology topic than on that TL topic, I don't know how to describe in words how sad that is :x

That shit meant automatic bans if those fights happened between the 2 starcrafts.
With lol? Staff members and Icons take part in the bashing.

heyoka says we're not at that point yet (SC2:LoL :: SC2:BW). I have brought it to his attention though.
It's really a matter of precedence, which I'm hoping to establish for TL with the editorial this weekend.

This is causing some massive ripples ^___^

Good, The Elephant In The Room needed to die and only thing that can accomplish that to my opinion is shock therapy.

TL has the opportunity to expand their membership exponentially. It doesnt even require changing the site in any meanigful way.
All it would take is for the mods to actually step up, make it clear that bullshit wont be allowed, and then show that the space can be shared. You're telling me that having a recap of the lol tournement after IEM on the front page next to the SC2 one is destroying the SC2 tournament scene?

good luck with this editorial, could be epic. really looking forward to reading it. hope it will help shed some light on the most apparent misconceptions regarding lol.

If TL accepted LoL with open arms....a shit storm of massive proportions will erupt. Just look at what happened in one thread.
TL is too entrenched with Starcraft and unfortunately, I think the SC2 (and even DOTA2) elitists outnumber the open minded individuals (such as the BW community)
I would love to see a TL.LoL, but I doubt it will come into fruition anytime soon.

How long until someone necro's that "remove LoL/Dota streams" thread in website feedback? I like the idea of TL branching out and encompassing other games. I'm no LoL fan (and if I started playing a game like this it would probably be Dota2) but the fact is most people on TL play more than just BW/SC2. Why shouldn't there be subcommunities? (as long as SC remains the main focus). I'll be interested to see what you guys have to say about it.

That's not funny. That thread finally died thank goodness, let's not temp the SC2 General people to necro it.

God that just SOUNDS like a moderation nightmare.

Oh, NeoIllusions has appeared. So from obviously reading the entire thread the thing that most irks me is the blatant hypocrisy(Because of SC2 - SCBW situation is very similiar to the LoL - SC2 one) and of course superb exaggeration. And as I've been in the top 1% of SC2 and even higher actually and top 30 in Europe in SSBM I think I'm somewhat qualified to argue that LoL really isn't nearly as easymode as some say.
Either way yeah, it really pains me to see so many uninformed "opinions" about the game and calling for doomsday and end of esports and whatnot... I don't get it either, I love watching SC2, SCBW, WC3, LoL, DotA2, HoN and I really don't understand the competition thingy either. It's not like there can only be a single game at an event. If SC2, LoL and DotA2 all become huge, for instance, the MLGs and such are just going to become bigger themselves, and in turn draw a lot more people there, which in turn is going to expose more people to SC2.
I'm looking forward to seeing the "LoL rebute" thread, especially the "embedded streams in client inflating viewer numbers" myth is extremely annoying.
My personal suggestion for moderation guidelines would be to make unfounded aggression towards a game like "LoL is a shit game!" or "SC2 is a stupid boring game no one likes" bannable, but if you have good arguments I think that that's still good and appropriate discussion as long as it's in the proper threads(As in I really hope we don't see a SC vs LoL argument in a OGN LoL tournament live report thread)

Ya as do I!
I enjoyed participating in the kim carrier thread and the OGN thread. I would say that the BW section is much more open minded when compared to the rest of TL. (in terms of LoL)
