Again, remember the discussion of Damionwings being a 1600 Elo player that jumped to 2k after the Annie buff because he literally only knows how to play Annie? Yes but this is a specific case especially because not only can he only play annie annie is the type of hero where she snowballs super hard and small buffs like that against bad players can easily snowball games like that. The difference between a 3/0 annie at 15 minutes and a 0/0 annie at 15 minutes is huge and easily can make up the 400 elo difference. And yeah, 2100 players can get "stuck" at 1600 and 1600 players can get "fluked" into 2100, but most likely is the 2100 player not playing his best heroes and also tilting hard that he loses games at that elo and starts focusing on bad teammates and not his own player. Also the same guy playing his best heroes playing his best games of his life and getting the better side of his teams can get to 2100 and then start dropping a lot when he plays other heroes and starts playing worse and tilting etc. Humans are a lot more complicated that the probability floating around this thread. I'm pretty sure smash was at 2100 player and he has explained in his blog the way he tends to tilt and drop elo sometimes.

Why get that worked up over it, aside from 1 poster a while ago, no one is being very inflammatory, it is pretty civil. Do uninflammatory discussions really distress you that much? There is not constructive discussion when it comes to a topic like elo hell.

KK, you should REALLY stop now. Literally the WORST thing you can do when trying to argue with people is pull out the Martyr card. It doesnt work.

It's because there's not really a point to be made at all. Both side are pretty much in agreement over the facts (that Elo system is imperfect) and drawing different conclusions. - You believe that the Elo system places the outcome out the game significantly outside of the player's control and is in large determined by luck - Other people who don't whine about these things just play, get better, and their Elo magically improves as if there's some mystical correlation between skill and how much you win.

Like to me if I can get even 1 person to not deal in absolutes anymore and understand that not everyone has the same experiences in solo queue and some do get stuck at a lower elo than they should be, then i've made progress. From my perspective it's more like I believe the elo system is not accurate, and discussing the variables and the actual impact it has on varying players helps to further understand the implications of it. I think some other people would just rather not even think about it and pretend it is very accurate and then use it as some sorta measuring stick to win any discussion about balance or meta. I'd personally prefer the LoL community as a whole get past that sorta ignorance and analyze games and tournaments and performances based on their actual merits and not do the whole "i win this argument cause i am higher solo queue elo" routine. Teamliquid is a site where players who were very hardcore about playing or following esports flocked to, to have very intuitive discussions. I'd like it to maintain as much of that as possible.

The discussion is going in circles and completely un-constructive. b. Snide remarks and Take Thats everywhere. Even if they're not blatantly "You're an idiot", it's still pretty much the same thing. Like this: ...who don't whine about these things just play, get better, and their Elo magically improves as if there's some mystical correlation between skill and how much you win... c. Most points were anecdotal and along the lines of "Yeah, this single story shows blah!" "No, that was a special case that showed blah! This shows that it's not blah!". Now can we please self-moderate ourselves and just move on?

Yea I find it humorous how people always assume that just because someone is the minority in a certain belief they must be wrong, yet often it is the majority that make the snide remarks and try to poke fun at the minority. Innovators are a minority.
