Saying this is bad because riot is trying to bring streaming to the frontlines is completely and utterly misguided. That's like saying Coke is better than Pepsi. Both arguably fill the same role, but people prefer one to the other.

You have yet to actually give a reason as for why this doesnt harm other streamers, or why this is in any way equitable. Streaming is a job. Its how HS makes his living. Its how TSM is able to afford their house. Hell, its how most teams, which to this point are unsponsored, are able to attend events. Look, I have no problem with riot coming out with an announcement that says: "Hey look at all the league content on livestreaming sites! You can see members of teams like CLG, TSM, EG, FNATIC, Dignitas, SK, AL and many more!" That way you call attention to livestreams, which is what riots main goal is, without actually specifying that THESE are the people you should watch and these ones arent. You're really naive if you really think so many people watched hotshots stream purely because of the quality. The fact that riot featuring shushei lost hotshot 10k viewers is a testament to this. People aren't forced to watch shusheis stream maybe they prefer it over hotshot? Or at least after watching hotshot for so long it gets old. There's a thing called monopoly and its basically what TSM and CLG have atm with featured streams. Riot is just combatting that a bit. People DO NOT watch TSM and CLG purely because they are the highest quality streams. Doublelift joining CLG and getting like 15k more viewers clearly shows that.

Riot can't change that No way, Loci best streamer, but only TL knows that :> I do find it curious how the "bad boys" consistently get more streamers, regardless of which game (Idra doesn't even stream often but when he does he gets so many, then you have players like destiny who have tons of haters and are notorious for attitude also getting tons of viewers.) Really, Riot featuring a streamer isn't any different from CLG or TSM featuring a streamer. And it makes sense that they're gonna favor streamers who are BOTH top players AND known for their manners rather than their attitude.

Streaming is a job. streamins is PLAYING A FUCKING GAME. IT'S NOT A JOB. Its how HS makes his living. Its how TSM is able to afford their house. and how they will continue to do so, what's the problem? Hell, its how most teams, which to this point are unsponsored, are able to attend events. ok? what's your point? severity gaming is un-corporate-sponsored and this weekend we're all traveling to a LAN event that is not in any of our own homestates. i'm gonna burn a couple hundred bucks on gas, not to mention equipment, food, team t-shirts (^_^), etc. we might not even win the whole thing and i'll be out a couple hundred bucks. what's that? i have a 40-hour a week job that allows me to pay to do these things? As do ~92% of american adults? you mean streamers could potentially do other things besides play the game to make money? GASP you just seem to have this mindset that there are only X viewers possibly available in the world, and any of them switching streams is a tragedy and traitorism to hotshotQQ. i've got some interesting facts for you bro: there are new players playing LoL every day and new people tuning into streams every day. there are people who watch a stream one time and never go back (i've watched hotshot's stream once, i've watched dyrus's stream once. on those two days their viewer count was +1. i've never watched either since. OH NO THEY'RE LOSING MONEY AND VIEWERS FUCKING RIOOOOOOOOOT). when you see hotshot has 7000 viewers, it's not that he has 7000 people that do nothing but watch him all day. you don't seem to understand that people can come and go from streams, which is not a particularly hard concept to grasp. riot featuring shushei is a way to draw more people into watching streams; especially watching streams of players they want new players to emulate. there's a summoner's code that hotshot pretty much breaks every single rule of on a constant basis. why would riot want to say "hey kids you need to play by the rules... here's a video of one of our best players not playing by the rules and not being punished!" also you should probably get a job because you have a severely flawed view of "losing money." "losing money" is when your expenses exceed your profits, or your outflow exceeds your income, or you pay a higher value for something than what it is worth. you "lose money" when you buy a new car and drive it off the lot because it instantly depreciates in value and you can never sell it for what you bought it for. you "lose money" when you start a business that costs $1million to start, and then you only make $500,000 in profits in your first year and have to shut down. you "lose money" when you drop your wallet down the sewer and an alligator eats it. you DON'T "lose money" when you are making $100/day at your lemonade stand and then your neighbor opens up a lemonade stand and you start making $95/day. you are not LOSING $5 a day, you are MAKING $95/day. this is a pretty basic concept. now apply it to hotshot. he pays probably $150/month for internet, and (assuming he didn't get it from sponsors) might have paid $3000 dollars total for his rig. he makes ~$2000 dollars a day or whatever from streaming. if that number gets cut in half, he's not LOSING $1000/day. he's still making $1000/day which is way more than anyone should ever make for being a self-entitled whiny bitch playing a video game. he might be making less but it's still a lot guess what else? when i leave my house i usually turn on a stream of a viewer i like (smash, kyuubicake, loci, etc). that way i'm "supporting" them without really watching. you know what else? i can open 2 tabs in firefox and "watch" 2 streamers at the same time. it feels like 90% of the time you just post shit to post. everyone else here thinks about their posts before they hit that big post button. you should try it sometime PS and what's more, why do you even give any fucks about how many viewers hotshotgg has? how does it effect you in any way? what have you ever done to support any streamer? how much money have you donated to the streamers that you like? isn't that essentially what you're bitching about? that money is being "stolen" from them by riot? so put YOUR money where your mouth is and either (a) stop playing LoL (which supports riot, THE BAD GUYS HERE), or (b) donate to the streamers you like. problem solved and you can feel good about yourself. you constantly say that riot should hire you instead of matt marcou, and while it's true that he's pretty inept, i'm pretty sure riot would cease to exist within 6 months of hiring you

Severity Gaming (not directly associated with TL.net but composed of several TL posters) is playing a LAN at Iowa State University this weekend. there are some decent teams coming out, no TSM or CLG or anything, but there will definitely be some competition. any TLers that attend Iowa State or live in the area or live somewhat close and just have nothing to do for the weekend should come out and check out the LAN. Dyrus and frozt are shoutcasting the semi-finals and finals, there's a couple grand in prizing, and it should be a blast. i will be streaming the event if i can (i honestly have never been to a lan though, i don't even know if i'll be able to access the internet while i'm plugged into the lan box or whatever, i'm an internet noob), so if you want to watch you can from home but if you come to the event, look for us! we'll be in black t-shirts with "Severity Gaming" in white on the front and our screen names in gold on the back (TL posters on the team going to iowa: Ruken, TreeBeard, Snowster_SC (ObamasLeftHand) and myself (guitarasaurus)). the event starts at 6pm on saturday evening and goes straight through til there's a winner! you can catch my stream of our matches at www.livestream.com/gtrsrs thanks ![]()
