I have no idea, but I doubt it.
mobafire.com and solomid.net seems to have pretty active forums.

Well I'm sure that the Leagueoflegends.com is more active, but I mean like, real e-sports-ish forums for LoL.

Nah, I still doubt we're the most active. We have less memes (reddit) and this is just a subforum that became public < 6 months ago. Before that people had to find this subforum or bookmark it.
LoL esport-ish forum would be something like solomid.net or clgaming.net?

We're probably not the most active but I'd say we're one of, if not the highest quality LoL forum out there.

I'm just a little bit spoiled by TL i guess. I've been wanting some kind of database with tournaments, players, the characters they play, teams, stuff like that. And a really active forum of course.

It would be cool to have a Liquidpedia for LoL, but it comes down to who wants to get it started and maintain it?
|
I think we would need to start by trying to get TL hook it up to liquipedia 1&2, however unlikely that may be. Just a better starting point and more eyes on the product.
|
LoL doesn't have enough of a history or enough players to warrant a liquipedia. Maybe in half a year or so when spec-mode is actually released and there are more tournaments.
|
i disagree there are at least like 50 players we could put in the database already, get it started so we don't have to sift through a shit ton of tournametns when and if we are the ones to start it up.

If I get bored tomorrow I'll try to make a thread for this unless someone ninja's it first. It'd be nice to have at least a thread of a "who's who" for teams and players in competitive LoL.
The only real problem is that, A) I know very little of the EU scene and can only list all of the players in SK and Fnatic. B) The Chinese scene is very new but will probably be pretty relevant in the coming months.
Still, some kind of thread for identifying all of these top players might be a good idea.

How is LoL esports developing while we are on the topic of the esport web site. I know the shelf life for most major titles other than Sc2 isn't huge but I am curious if anyone expects a decently large esport shelf life for LoL.

Well if its something that the TL community is interested in doing we can probably do it. Thats how we do shit on TL.

I think that LoL is more played than WoW right now. Which would make it the biggest PC game currently. A big community means more people to be interested in an eSports scene. LoL brings in a lot of viewers and is getting picked up by a ton of events. DotA2 won't have any real effect on the playerbase and I think it'll have an incredibly minor impact on the eSports scene of LoL.
Basically, I think that LoL could outlast SC2 assuming Riot keeps their shit together.
edit: @Generalissimo I'm sure people would be willing to help and contribute to something like that. A wiki would be better as it'd be easier to organize but I don't have much on my plate for tomorrow. I don't mind at least writing up a huge ass thread and getting told what to add or remove. At the very least it could help people when/if a wiki is made for competitive LoL.

Well LoL and Dota 2 are two completely different games other than being the same basic idea so they will be mutually exclusive I am more talking about LoL's actual tenacity on its own. I am new to the game so I don't know much about its history or enough to know about its future.

It's history is pretty limited since competitive LoL really only got big after DreamHack.
But in a nutshell, CLG won WCG 2010 and for the first year of competitive LoL was hands down the best team in the world. So good that they were considered unbeatable and dominated every other team. They never practiced though so other teams caught up to them and they took 5th at DreamHack. They practice a lot now though and are once again a dominate team but certainly not as untouchable as they once were (they probably aren't even "the best" team). Currently the top NA teams are EG, TSM, CLG, and Dignitas in no specific order. I think a lot of people would be willing to say that Dignitas is the "best team" at the moment. In EU the big names are SK, Fnatic MSI, and Millenium.
The future is kind of hard to talk about. According to locodoco Korean LoL is gonna be HUGE AAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHH. The Chinese teams look really good too. At IEM China we saw World Elite, eHome, and iG all put up really good performances and they're all at least on the same skill level as the NA/EU scenes. It's really hard to say what region will end up being the strongest but traditionally the NA teams have been stronger than the other regions (that is certainly subject to change and might already be changing).
I don't think anyone knows just how big competitive LoL will get but it won't just be limited to NA and EU anymore. It remains to be seen how dominate China and Korea will be in competitive LoL.

There can be tons of info if someone does take on the task to start this. However, there could be quite a bit of overlap with other wikis if this tries to encompass everything like Liquidpedia. Some of the stuff I can think of include:
1. Player pages - Bio - Playstyle - Preferred champs - Winnings - Top Elo 2. Team pages - starting lineup - 2nd line - subs - performance 3. Tournament pages - Match picks/bans and picks/bans stats - Individual stats (if endgame screenshots available)
