What I mean is that if I try to poke someone, I might as well commit to killing him since he can return fire while I'm retreating. Them moving forward just gives me more space to chase them down.

Is there any way that I can try and harass people that outrange me effectively or am I stuck waiting till they try to pass the minion line? The most hilarious thing is the Phreak "if you can get in range to autoattack and then Q and do 2 more attacks you harrass them a great deal and they can't do anything about it" when if you try to do it you pull minion aggro and anyone with a nuke is going to completely outharrass you. -.- I'd suggest you to just attack -> Q E as your harrass, it's the safest thing she has

Also, AP Shen is not a lag-proof build (Lag-Proof builds are character/item builds you can do even in very laggy situations)

Sunday Night I was playing Xin in soloqueue on TT. Game starts up, with two dipshits on my team and two dipshits on the opponent team plus a Yi. Anyways, fast forward 30ish mins, Teamfight happens top lane near the opponent's destroyed tower. My 2 teammates die, his 2 teammates die, i run with ghostblade and he chases me with his ult. I get into the bushes near where my team's top outer tower would be, and I notice my abilities are off CD. I stop in the bush and wait for Yi to enter to throw my 3 abilities at him. We kept hitting eachother, and it was really close, but I survived with something like 30 Hp. If it wasn't for my passive and Thornmail, I would have been dead easily. For like 2 mins after this happened, I still didn't know how I managed to kill Yi from half health when I was at about 2/5ths.

Even if you completely ignore the worthless splash effect, it seems a very cost effective source of damage and mana+health per 5. Maybe a better player can comment, but I'm guessing the issue is that ranged carries don't want to delay their big items like IE and such. Also rushing the item would leave you pretty squishy if you are a tanky dps champ. So maybe it is a bit clumsy, but stat wise it looks pretty efficient. I tried rushing a tiamat (in normals only) on urgot, nasus, and jax and it worked out pretty well for all three. the nasus one was just a troll until I was surprised by how well it worked and decided to try it on other champs as well. Jax is pretty hilarious with a tiamat since I take both armor pen and magic pen masteries on him, so with just one tiamat you clear a creep wave ridiculously fast. I have a hard time justifying Tiamat over Philo + BF. Philo closes the cost gap in 13 minutes (a good amount of which will have passed by the time you can even finish Tiamat), gives more of the regen stats, and both Philo and BF build into good items later on.
