News
- After the holiday break, and four weeks since Lunara came into the Nexus, we finally have our next hero. Greymane is coming into the Nexus tomorrrow!
- Heroes of the Storm won the best Competitive Multiplayer and best MOBA of the year award by Game Informer. Yay!
- Spyrian took the time to go into the forums and share some of Blizzard’s findings about the new matchmaking system and how player feedback has helped them think about further adjustments. Notably, Blizzard is planning to make further adjustments to how they pair parties against solo players so this will happen more rarely, and when it does it results in a better match.
Tournaments
- http://wiki.teamliquid.net/heroes/Heroes_Rising was the first major tournament of the year. Taking place this 9 and 10 of January, the tournament featured Tempo Storm, Cloud9, Murloc Geniuses, Panda Global, oVo, COGnitive Gaming, Bob Ross Fan Club, Team Blaze and King of Blades Alpha. A good start to the year I would say, with exciting matches and a few surprises. Check out the results on Liquipedia, and this great analysis of the pick, ban and win rate of the heroes played in the tournament.
TeamLiquid Spotlight
- So many awesome articles were published this week by TeamLiquid.net that it would be unfair to put just one in the spotlight. From roster changes to interviews with Chu8, DunkTrain and MVP Black’s Sake, and community creations there is a lot to see. Head over to teamliquid.net/heroes to read them all!.
Community:
- There’s been a lot of talk recently about the current meta, and the problems it brings into Hero League, where because of the lack of bans some team compositions run rampant “unfairly” winning games. Chu8, one of the most popular streamers around has taken the time to share some of his concerns.
- Liquid Cris also shared his thoughts about the state of the game. He talks about the undertunning of the most recent heroes, and how the game could bennefit from faster updates.
- ESV Diamond, manager of Stellar Lotus, took the time to make a thread pointing the three biggest winners and losers from the recent Heroes Rising Tournament. It gives a lot of insight and it’s a pretty interesting read.
- Josheb Gaming has been analyzing the way the pros play and why they make the decisions they make. Following Heroes Rising, he analyzed the last fight of map two between Murloc Geniuses and Tempo Storm. It’s a great watch and he explains every decision very well. I think we could all learn a thing or two about teamfights.
