Virtus.Pro In Search of New Team
Today, Virtus.Pro announced that they would be releasing most of their current roster, retaining only CEBKAJE. Earlier stories revealed there were several in-house tensions similar to those shared by Tempo Storm and Fnatic just before their roster overhauls. As a result, VP's results have suffered, dating as far back as the MSI Masters Gaming Arena in August. After a long string of losses over the last several months, the team became increasingly demoralized, and it became apparent that the situation could no longer continue.
Virtus.Pro still has plans for Heroes of the Storm, though. Team captain CEBKAJE will be staying with the group and has been mandated the task of finding the "new top five" to play under VP's banner.
If recent history has taught us anything about cleaning out rosters, it tends to be for the best. Team Liquid and Fnatic underwent drastic changes, and the resulting products were even stronger teams that went on to dominate recent European tournaments. The big roster changes also brought some formerly unknown players like Quackniix and Smexystyle to the forefront, revitalizing the pro scene and giving fans new heroes to cheer for. The LiquidHeroes team talked about this in detail during their latest episode of Nexus Nights following DreamHack.
If VP is lucky, putting together a new team will allow them start again with a clean slate and give them a chance to find the results they've been looking for. There are high hopes that CEBKAJE’s search for a stronger team will regain their iconic angry-bear ferocity and strength, but only time will tell.
